Bush administration and the first Trump administration, operates an active consultancy, hosts a podcast, writes commentaries for USC Schaeffer Center, and is an active member of the CSIS Bipartisan Alliance for Global Health Security. Drug shortages remain a real problem, with the potential to scale and impose political costs. What to make of the Big Beautiful Bill? It might provoke a backlash. How to understand the rising vulnerability of the aging foundational programs—PEPFAR, Gavi, the Global Fund? And how to understand what happened during Covid-19? It was a “toxic brew.” We need to be “radically transparent.”

In the thirteenth episode of The CommonHealth Live!, Katherine E. Bliss and J. Stephen Morrison discuss the outcomes of the June 25 Health and Prosperity through Immunization Global Summit, co-hosted in Brussels by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the European Union and the Gates Foundation. During the Summit, Gavi aimed to secure pledges of $11.9 billion to save at least 8 million lives and protect at least 500 million children from vaccine preventable diseases between 2026 and 2030. While several countries maintained longstanding commitments to the Alliance, and new donors, including current and former implementing countries, stepped up to contribute, Gavi still faces a funding shortfall. U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s video statement expressing concern over Gavi's approach to vaccine safety before stating that the United States would not renew its support raises questions about how the Alliance can close the funding gap to meet the ambitious goals set forth in the next phase of work. The conversation highlights takeaways from the pledging session outcomes from the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) meeting the same day, and what recent events mean for the future of U.S. approaches to global immunization programs.
Last week we had a Chianti from Tuscany, a Susumaniello from Puglia, and a Montepulciano from Abruzzo. Tonight, we have a Barolo from the Piemonte region. The area is known mostly for the home of two red grape varieties, Nebbiolo and Barbera. Nebbiolo is used to produce Barolo and Barbaresco, and Barbera is the typical table wine for the area. Barbera has become known over the last 30 years for its quality. Piemonte is also known for Dolcetto, Gattinara, Gavi, and Moscato. Dolcetto is an early ripening dark-red wine grape. It produces a soft, round, and fruit-forward red wine that is drank young. Gavi comes from the Cortese grape. Gavi often has some carbonation but can also be made into a more substantial wine. (Metodo Classico – minimum of 18 months of Lees contact). Two common terms are Spumante and Frizzante. They indicate a sparkling wine and semi-sparkling wine, respectively. Many people think of Barolo as being the best wine in the world. It is a high-tannin and high-acid wine that ages well.Tonight, we are enjoying:2019 Kirkland Signature Barolo. This wine was purchased at Costco for $20. RWS – aromas of leather, black cherry, cedar, licorice, black pepper and spice. Another reviewer said earthy flavors with cherry and blackberry, and noticeable acid. The wine has 13.5% alcohol. This wine had bright acidity regardless of its six-year age. Both Denise and I scored the wine a three. I believe the wine should be stored a little longer before consuming. Next week we will learn about and taste a South African Chenin Blanc and a Rhone Valley White Blend.

Abbey Blue Eyes and Ashe in America sit down with Jordan Sather for an expansive discussion bridging health activism and the mysteries of human consciousness. Jordan kicks off by unpacking RFK Jr.'s efforts to defund Gavi and dismantle Big Pharma's chokehold on small supplement makers. From there, the conversation dives into genetically modified foods, glyphosate-laden crops, and the corporate collusion between Monsanto and the FDA to keep Americans sick. The second half veers into the “woo,” exploring remote viewing, astral projection, and the nature of consciousness as an untapped human birthright. Jordan lays out how our DNA might act as a fractal antenna linking us to a morphogenic field, while the hosts debate whether these abilities are divine gifts or gateways to manipulation. They also examine the moral hazards of a future where secrets disappear, and humanity becomes a shared hive mind. Interwoven throughout are biblical references, Star Wars metaphors, and sharp questions about the hidden hand shaping both our food supply and our collective psyche. It's a thought-provoking exploration of corruption, spiritual sovereignty, and the possibility of reclaiming our innate power.

In Episode 48 of MAHA News, Jordan Sather and Nate Prince unpack a landmark week in health policy as RFK Jr. launches sweeping reforms. They break down Kennedy's seven-part plan unveiled at the HHS budget hearing, including defunding Gavi over vaccine safety failures, pushing to ban mercury-based thimerosal in flu shots, and tackling aluminum adjuvants that fuel chronic illness. The hosts highlight the backlash from pharma insiders and the panic over lawsuits that could expose decades of vaccine injury cover-ups. Jordan and Nate also explore RFK's efforts to rein in the health insurance industry with reforms aimed at slashing prior authorization delays and expanding care access for millions. The conversation veers into the rising acceptance of psilocybin therapies, the deregulation of hemp, and how GMO-laden food systems keep Americans sick. Wrapping up, they debate the promise and risk of government-backed wearables, celebrate big wins against toxic additives, and call out the corporations scrambling to look virtuous under mounting pressure. It's an unfiltered tour through the front lines of America's health revolution.
This week, we have been closely following the Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance's high-level replenishment event in Brussels. Gavi, the leading international organization that provides vaccines to lower-income countries, finalized its five-year investment round event with more than $9 billion in pledges — falling short of its total budget request of $11.9 billion. The United States decided to cut its support for the organization, with U.S. health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. stating that the country will not fund Gavi until it works to “re-earn the public trust.” On the topic of the U.S., our discussion also covers the Trump administration's decision to withdraw support for various U.N. Sustainable Development Goal commitments, alongside its absence from the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development. To discuss these stories and others, Business Editor David Ainsworth sits down with Sara Jerving and Colum Lynch for the latest episode of our podcast series. Good morning from Pharma and Biotech daily: the podcast that gives you only what's important to hear in Pharma and Biotech world.Former FDA official Peter Marks criticized the agency's new risk-based COVID-19 vaccine framework, stating it contradicts the administration's transparency and science standards. The CDC's advisory committee recommended Merck's infant RSV vaccine, and Novavax's approval delay raised concerns about politicization of drug approval processes. Lilly's Verve deal revealed regulatory turmoil following Marks' resignation. Meanwhile, Trump's CDC pick supports vaccine safety, Novartis made a large bet on cardiovascular disease targets, and RFK cut US funding from vaccine alliance Gavi. The biopharma industry is hiring less international talent, and pharma companies face challenges with failed immuno-oncology projects. Evotec is hosting a webinar on preserving quality in the pharmaceutical industry.
PRESS REVIEW – Friday, June 27: Donald Trump's health secretary and vaccine sceptic Robert F. Kennedy Jr moves to rescind recommendations for the flu vaccine over a longstanding anti-vaxxer belief that it causes autism. The US will also pull funding for a global alliance that provides free jabs to impoverished populations. Meanwhile: Libération looks at the instrumentalisation of famine in the war in Gaza. Finally, Jeff Bezos' opulent three-day wedding kicks off in Venice. An advisory panel for US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr has voted to rescind recommendations for the flu vaccine, The New York Times reports. Kennedy recently fired 17 experts on the advisory panel, replacing them with eight anti-vaxxers. On Thursday the panel voted to walk back vaccine recommendations for the common flu. The reason? A common (and false) argument of anti-vaxxers: that thimerosol, an ingredient in the flu vaccine is linked to autism. The Times says the decision signals a "powerful shift" in the way federal officials approach vaccines. It also delivers the first blows to a scientific process that has provided effective and tested vaccines to Americans for decades. It's important to note, as the Australian academic website The Conversation explains, that the preservative thimerosol is mercury-based and used in some drug products because it prevents contamination by killing microbes. However, it is hardly ever used in flu vaccines today. The website explains that the argument that vaccines cause autism first surfaced in 1998 when a now-discredited report in the medical journal The Lancet was published, claiming that several children developed autism following the flu vaccine. The Financial Times reports that the Trump administration will also stop funding for GAVI, the global vaccine group that provide free shots for meningitis, malaria and other disease prevention to people in poor countries. Kennedy says the alliance has ignored science and failed to justify billions of dollars the US gives in funding. The US being the alliance's top donor, this decision will sharply dent GAVI's efforts to raise over $9 billion for vaccination campaigns dedicated to a half a billion children in the next five years. The Washington Post's editors, meanwhile, profile Susan Monarez, a respected scientist who is acting director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and who could be on track to hold the position permanently. She had a confirmation hearing this week with US senators and impressed with her ability to avoid contradicting Kennedy's decision and avoid endorsing it at the same time. The Post's editors say that if confirmed, she could be a real impediment to those seeking to upend vaccine policies that have saved countless lives. French newspaper Libération looks at the famine in Gaza on its front page and asks the question: Is famine being used as a weapon of war by Israel in Gaza? The paper investigates the chaotic distribution of humanitarian aid in the Strip. Liberation explains that the system of aid is built around the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), an American NGO and the only organisation allowed to distribute aid. Traditional NGOs are refusing to work with the GHF, telling Libération they believe it has militarised humanitarian aid and facilitated the chaos. Over 500 people have been killed since the GHF set up its aid distribution points. Libération also accuses the Israeli army of setting up aid mainly in the south of the enclave, cutting off aid to the rest of the population – a form of ethnic cleansing, it says. Finally, the controversial nuptials of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos are underway in Venice this weekend. His opulent three-day wedding celebration has drawn support from Venetian business owners who are happy to cater to the hordes of rappers, celebrities and tech billionaires descending on the Italian city. Nonetheless, it's sparked widespread protests from locals and activists fed up with the added strain it will put on a region that's already suffering from overtourism. Il Giorno, the Italian paper, looks at the controversial wedding of "Mister Amazon" and Lauren Sanchez. In many ways, The New York Times says, San Giorgio, where emperors once met with popes, is fit to host the patron of Amazon.com. Protesters say it's not about the wedding but what it represents: the Americanisation of an inherently European city, and a tech billionaire who's cosied up to US President Donald Trump. Jon Herold returns from the closet studio in the Keys with another lively and layered episode dissecting the media frenzy surrounding Trump's precision strikes on Iran. He questions whether the Pentagon truly destroyed all uranium targets, explores the strategic psyop angle of “low-confidence” briefings, and suggests it may have all been a trap to catch leakers inside the intelligence community. Jon highlights Peter Hegseth's fiery Pentagon takedown of legacy media, debates the polarizing Israel narrative, and shares clips showing Trump's past frustrations with Netanyahu. Other key stories include RFK Jr.'s decision to pull U.S. support from Gavi, vaccine coalitions bypassing oversight, the crypto mortgage update from the FHFA, and a major SCOTUS win for pro-life advocates. Jon also calls out the Senate parliamentarian for blocking parts of Trump's “Big Beautiful Bill,” while mocking the media meltdown over Florida's alligator-surrounded migrant facility dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz.” Packed with humor, frustration, and sharp cultural insight, this episode is a deep dive into the modern propaganda machine, government accountability (or lack thereof), and the ever-thinning veil over the regime's collapsing narratives.

On this week's podcast episode, we unpack U.S. President Donald Trump's 2026 budget request, which proposes sweeping cuts to foreign aid and includes the elimination of funding for major global health initiatives such as Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The administration has also submitted a $9.4 billion rescission proposal to the U.S. Congress, seeking to formally cancel previously approved funds, much of it earmarked for foreign assistance. If approved, the move would codify into law cuts already made by the Department of Government Efficiency. The upcoming congressional response will be a critical test of foreign aid advocacy. We also discuss what happened at last week's African Development Bank meetings in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, where delegates discussed the need to diversify funding sources in the wake of U.S. aid cuts and focus on more reliable partnerships. The meetings also marked a leadership transition, with Mauritania's Sidi Ould Tah appointed as the AfDB's new president, vowing to mobilize private sector investment and deepen partnerships with the Gulf states. To discuss these stories, Devex Senior Editor Rumbi Chakamba is joined by reporters Michael Igoe and Ayenat Mersie for this episode of This Week in Global Development.

Angela and Nick welcome a music icon and major food lover to the table. Neneh Karlsson, better known as Neneh Cherry, is a singer, songwriter, broadcaster and activist. Cherry arrives at Dish HQ to talk about the paperback release of her memoir A Thousand Threads which recounts her life story through vivid tales of family, art, friendship and food. The book has recently been nominated for the Women's Prize for Non-Fiction. Neneh was born in Stockholm, Sweden before moving to New York and then, when she was 15, to London where she lives now. She first came to public attention in 1988 with her music and the groundbreaking single Buffalo Stance. In a career that has seen her release six albums and collaborate with the likes of Peter Gabriel, Cher and Gorillaz, she has won two BRIT Awards, a MTV Europe Music Award and has a Grammy nomination. As part of a varied and always thought-provoking career, Neneh has also found time to hone her skills as a cook, and presented the TV cooking show Dish It Up with good friend Andi Oliver. It's a pasta day for Neneh on Dish as Angela serves tagliatelle with peas, courgette & burrata which the Waitrose wine experts suggest is perfectly paired with a glass of Waitrose Blueprint Gavi. This episode sees Angela and Neneh meet for the first time, generating lots of mouth-watering and nostalgic food chat. Neneh shares her favourite food memories including being sent meatballs in the post, her favourite Swedish dish and also reflects on the word-of-mouth success of her book. You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube All recipes from this podcast can be found at waitrose.com/dishrecipes A transcript for this episode can be found at waitrose.com/dish We can't all have a Michelin star chef in the kitchen, but you can ask Angela for help. Send your dilemmas to dish@waitrose.co.uk and she'll try to answer them in a future episode. Dish from Waitrose is made by Cold Glass Productions.

Big platformed influencers like Steve Kirsch, Nicole Shanahan, Dr. Mary Talley Bowden and Mike Adams spoke out against the appointment with a slew of concerns, namely her refusal to address the mRNA toxic shots. Here is a quick overview from The Patriot Voice:“Casey is also PRO-TRANSHUMANIST, and PRO-mRNA. She believes in invasive body monitoring by implants and AI. She has known ties to the Rockefeller Foundation, WEF, GAVI, the Clinton's and Biden. She is totally “in” with the Military Industrial Complex through family connections and totally and completely inline with Agenda 2030.Her father wrote a PRO-TRANS children's book called “The Adventures of Felix the Flamingo” which teaches children that it's ok to explore gender dysphoria.Nicole Shanahan, who was RFK Jr's running mate even came out against Trump's decision to pick Casey, saying “it's very strange, and doesn't make any sense” “I don't know if RFK very clearly lied to me, or what's going on?” candidly referring to her and her brother as “Manchurian assets” ~ @TPV_JohnThis is a fantastic development and a signal that the propaganda apparatus deployed from Washington DC is losing its MOJO.This also signals a new development, it seems the American people are hungry for the truth and beginning to realize that BOTH political parties are in on the globalist, tyranny agenda. This is an amazing development and there is no better guest to discuss the need for independent media than Jason Bassler! Hello Rank Squad! After one of the most intriguing, exhausting, exhilarating semi-finals that the competition has ever seen, Inter will be in the final after finally dispatching Barcelona with a knockout blow, just moments after they had dragged themselves off the canvas themselves. 4-3 on the night, 7-6 on aggregate, this was one of the best games of football we have seen in many a long year, two sides who just traded punches for 210 minutes until a victory bell was finally rung, in favour of the home side. We discuss the momentum swings of a game that saw Inter take a 2-0 lead, before going down 3-2 with just moments to go, the late equaliser from the most unlikely of sources - Francesco Acerbi - before more drama in added time saw Davide Frattesi once more come up with the goods to send Simone Inzaghi's weathered old warriors to Munich - where they will face one of PSG or Arsenal. There's also some talk about what the future outlook is for a Barcelona side who have come a long way this year, and who perhaps just lacked a tad of experience when it mattered most, as well as why Inter feel like this could be there year to claim a long-awaited European crown - it's been 15 years since that famous night in Madrid. All that, and loads more, including Dean's experience watching Beckham & Friends on Paramount, on the show. It's Ranks! And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?

Hello Rank Squad! It's time for this week's first Champions League Takeaway - looking back at Tuesday's Quarter Final second legs, where both PSG and Barcelona emerged with qualification intact, but with their reputations bruised and having been handed on-the-night losses by Aston Villa and Borussia Dortmund, who were both excellent. In the absence of Dean, who is flying back to San Diego, Jack is joined by football podcast royalty in Mike Zimmermann - to talk through both of the games and discuss the ramifications in more detail. We start with Aston Villa's impressive 3-2 win over PSG, where the Parisien favourites were given an almighty scare in the second half by Unai Emery's charges, who managed to break free of PSG's impressive counter-attacking hold after the break, going hell for leather and finding themselves some Gigi Donnarumma magic away from taking Luis Enrique's men to extra time. Then in Part Two, we head to the Westfalenstadion, where Dortmund had very little to lose, but managed to expose the Barcelona high line enough to give the Yellow Wall plenty to shout about. Serhou Guirassy's hat-trick had Barça very worried for a time, and although the Catalans progressed, they were subjected to defeat in a single game for the first time in 2025. It's Ranks! And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?
