I don’t like conservative, boring, rule driven, exclusionary religion; and I also don’t like liberal, fake, flaky, woo woo spirituality. I am a normal person with a normal life, and I just want to help you get free of the bullsh*t that keeps you from living and loving to your fullest. The more you wake up to your divine self, the more free you will be of non-divine sh*t. You know... selfishness, anxiety, fear, loneliness, sadness, confusion, unfulfillment, etc. You CAN be free! I only hope I can help in some way. This is me attempting that. I hope you give it a listen.
In Part Two, we cover Romans 6:15-8:14. What activates sin and selfishness in our lives? If effortlessly living in love, is a gift of God's grace, what part do we play, if any? Is humanity inherently bad? Is there condemnation for certain kinds of people, even Christians? We answer these questions, and more. That last one is a resounding YES by the way. The ancient text of Romans says, that just like the resurrected Jesus, human beings also, “should live a new kind of life,” the same kind of life that he lives, but that doesn't mean we are to imitate him in our own energy. It means that we are to live with God supplied healthy thoughts, wholesome desires, beneficial actions, and life-giving habits, meaning He is the wind, and we are the ship and the sails. Imagine never having to fight sin, negative emotional cycles, toxic relational patterns, and the like. Imagine all that happening “by itself,” effortlessly. That's why good character is called “the fruit of the Spirit,” not “the results of (insert your name here).” This is the life intended for us by The Triune God, and in this series, we will look at how to switch, from the old, do-it-yourself lifestyle, to the new, God-does-it-through you lifestyle. Let this be the teaching that forever changes how you mirror your divine identity. No more you, but only Jesus in you! Jory and I go deep, and talk about the sometimes painful, dark moments we go through in our meditative journey (and in life), as the isolated, separate self and impermanent "realities" that we cling to, come tumbling down and show themselves for what they are: illusions that can give us no true and lasting contentment, security and happiness. We speak mainly from the Christian-mystic-framework, but sprinkle in insights from all over. Continuing my series on the works of the first official Zen Master, Bodhidharma (5th century). We are in the middle of his talk, Bloodstream Sermon. I comment on karma's relationship to satori, your untouchable nature, non-personal awareness and more. This is not a dense, academic, boring "lecture." It's a person buzzed off the Dharma sharing his ecstatic thoughts and musings. This might be my favorite series so far, and I'm not just saying that to hype it up. The core of your "you" has not been touched, influenced or conditioned by your particular life upbringing. It is infinite in knowledge, wisdom and counsel. Is interior and personal growth easy or hard? Is it possible we have seen it all wrong? Instead of hard work, like lifting weights or running marathons, what if meditation and similar practices, were more like letting go of the hard things holding us down? Forget picking up dumbbells, what about letting heavy chains fall off of us? True spiritual growth makes life easier, not harder, and getting to that point is easy as well. Listen in to this backwards approach to mental growth. Forget spirituality, this is spiritual-easy!
Are you a victim and servant to your mind? To thoughts? To emotions? Is there an easy way to be free from mind's control? From your own internal activity manipulating and dominating your habits, behaviors and states of being? Find some freedom in this spontaneous dharma talk given by Jesse.
