This week's show is with Isaac Wortley and Eddy Elsey, both practicing apprentices of a traditional Mongolian lineage holder, who founded Mother Tree Shamanism. Isaac is an English shaman, who experienced a calling from a very young age. This led him to search out an authentic traditional teacher of Mongolian shamanism. Over ten years ago, he was initiated by his teacher, the founder of Mother Tree Shamanism, and has been an apprentice ever since. He has also studied traditional Mongolian/Tibetan medicine for last three years. He currently lives in the Midlands in England providing shamanic and traditional medicine services for people in the West. Eddy has been studying as an apprentice with Mother Tree Shamanism for the last 3 years after transitioning to traditional shamanism from his previous background in neo-shamanism. He lives between the Midlands and London, and works as a traditional massage therapist. He is passionate about helping people discover authentic and traditional forms of spirituality. In this episode, Lian, Isaac and Eddy explore the profound healing power and depth of traditional shamanism, particularly through the Mongolian lineage they now both follow. Isaac shares the extraordinary story of how he was called from the age of ten, drawn to Mongolia without fully knowing why, and how his lifelong health issues vanished the moment he stepped onto the path he was destined for. Eddy describes how years of neo-shamanic practice led him into severe illness, and how his journey to Mongolia marked the turning point in his healing and transformation. Together, they explore the differences between traditional, core, and neo-shamanism… revealing why these distinctions matter and what is often lost in translation when Western models try to re-create ancient systems. Lian reflects on the unexpected complexity and precision of traditional Mongolian practices, and how both men have come to embody their path not as a profession, but as a sacred duty of service. They also speak to the deeper structures that make these lineages so powerful: the scientific nature, the central role of mind training, the profound teacher-student bond, and the karmic depth of walking a path that transcends lifetimes. This conversation is a reckoning with what's been lost, and what must be remembered if shamanism is to heal rather than harm. We'd love to know what YOU think about this week's show. Let's carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you'll learn from this episode: Why traditional shamanism is considered a complex science of the universe… and how it differs from core and neo-shamanic approaches How understanding your own mind is essential to effective spiritual practice… and why lack of mind training can be dangerous What the teacher-student bond truly means in traditional lineages… and how it offers a level of care, guidance, and karmic support that's rarely seen in modern spirituality Resources and stuff spoken about: Mother Tree Shamanism on Facebook & Instagram Eddy‘s Website & Instagram Join UNIO, the Academy of Sacred Union. Welcome, Warriors, to The Power of God's Whisper Podcast. Have you ever struggled to distinguish God's voice from your own thoughts? The battlefield of the mind is where clarity is won or lost. To hear God clearly, we must train our thoughts to align with His truth. Our springboard for today's discussion is: Romans 12:2 – "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."The world constantly bombards us with distractions, fears, and falsehoods. If we allow these influences to shape our thinking, God's whisper becomes drowned out. Renewing our minds means immersing ourselves in His Word, dwelling in worship, and staying anchored in prayer. Scripture reshapes our perspective, worship reorients our hearts, and prayer opens our spirit to divine wisdom.Testing our thoughts against God's Word is crucial. Not every inner voice is from Him—our emotions, fears, or even the enemy can try to deceive us. The more we train our minds in Scripture, the more we recognize His whispers. When an impression aligns with God's truth, His character, and His peace, we can trust it.Question of the Day: What thoughts have been shaping your perspective lately? Are they leading you toward God or away from Him?Let's Pray: Lord, transform our minds so that we may recognize Your voice with clarity. Help us test every thought against Your Word and walk in alignment with Your will. In Jesus' name, Amen.Let's Get to Work!My Reasons To Believe is a reader-supported publication. Are our minds truly “programmed” by media—news, television, movies, and now social media?
Would you like to better understand your patterns and feel more empowered? Lisa continues the conversation today with researcher and best-selling author Ravinder Taylor. She has helped literally thousands of people change their state of mind and therefore empower their lives. Her latest book is “Mind Training: The Science of Self-Empowerment.” Ravinder talks about the importance of choice. If bad things happen, it is not your fault. She asks us to ask, “What do you gain when you have a problem?” What is the difference between being informed and being prepared? How can you be aware of a problem or upcoming situation, yet not attract it? Ravinder has studied optimism and pessimism. Some people believe that doom-scrolling is about helping them feel more prepared. People have the “hope” that if they have information, they can be prepared so the worst-case won't happen. If someone looks for the negative, they will not have an enjoyable time and will feel stressed. Ravinder talks about statistics which show how much healthier people can be if they are more optimistic. What you expect, you observe. Your body will either fight or grow. Cortisol makes us feel stressed and can affect our hearts. She discusses actual techniques to increase optimism. We can be aware that some things will not work out, but if we are optimistic, we can grow and have a happier quality of life. Her “Mind Training” book talks all about the benefits of optimism and positive thinking. We can learn when things go wrong, and that means you have grown as a person. If your self-talk is positive, you cannot be depressed. Ravinder also talks about compassion and forgiveness. She talks about the prison system and studies about blame. We may need to separate ourselves from toxic people and toxic situations, but we can still offer forgiveness. She talks about the idea of “Forgiving the Unforgivable,” and Free Will. We have choices and we can teach by example. This is Part 2 of the interview. Info: RavinderTaylor.com
What happens when we really utilize the power of our mind to break through blocks to success in our lives? Or maybe you are facing a pivot and do not want to go backward into old patterns? Our guest today is researcher and best-selling author Ravinder Taylor. She has helped literally thousands of people change their state of mind and therefore empower their lives. Her latest book is “Mind Training: The Science of Self-Empowerment.” Ravinder talks about solid research which analyzed the importance of your state of mind, including a technique which improved cognitive abilities, reduced stress, and also made progress toward dementia. When she studied it further, she knew she could go deeper. What she wanted to do was take away the mystic around “self-help,” and show how in a scientific manner that positive change could be proven. She studied various self-help techniques so that the reader could find methods that work for themselves. She was looking specifically at a 12-minute meditation, which had spiritual undertones. She talks about the Sikh tradition in which she was raised, although she turned away from organized religion. She further studied brainwave entrainment and how it works with meditation. She suggests bringing your own faith into your meditation, if that feels right for you. She talks about what beliefs mean and how certain ideas get into our mind. The subconscious beliefs are so powerful, but first she says we must understand where the beliefs originated. She talks about the divided mind that Freud explored which includes the Ego, the Id, and the Superego. She furthers talks about the idea of the 4 Selves and what they mean. Who do we believe we can be? It's not about perfection, it's about our personal successes. We can actualize them. Her training is about being the best you can be. She further looks at psycho-social development, starting as an infant. Each period of our life lets us learn different things. She outlines the stages and shares ways to correct behaviors toward empowerment through various exercises. We can look back at our own childhoods and see where patterns started. Ravinder discusses her research into the Law of Attraction – Ask, Believe, and Receive. She talks about insecurities, self-destructive behaviors, and the importance of choosing, rather than asking. This is Part 1 of the interview. Info: RavinderTaylor.com

We know that exercising regularly will bring numerous benefits, from improved health and wellness to enhanced creativity, but most do not know that training the mind will bring a host of benefits too. Mind Training presents a way of life that promotes a process of conscious living. Having an awareness of the ‘whys' behind some of our behaviors will reduce many of the self-destructive patterns that all of us are subject to in certain areas of our lives. Understanding some of our brain chemistry mechanisms allows us to take some manual control to increase our successes and overall feelings of well-being. Discovering some of the automatic mind mechanisms makes it possible to offset the ability for others to exploit them.
