What's your intention? Engaging conversations that explore future-focused topics, technology, history, cultural and political trends -- and how they intersect with personal and family life. What are the core aims, drives, goals. We've been known to take a
Welcome to Intention, this is Byron DeLear. This episode has a little of everything, Ken Cox of the business podcast Clicks and Bricks interviewed me with a focus on THE holiday for American freedom, Juneteenth. We also talk about our experiences in the music industry, clean energy programs, and the need to advance equity and inclusion to strengthen the American family. So, join Ken and me as we explore the power of intention - Let's get started!
Welcome to Intention this is Byron DeLear. I'm very excited today to bring you a very special voice – a special episode of Intention. Now, for my listeners and viewers, I know there's been quite a bit of time between episodes, this is because of other commitments. So, I just want you to know I appreciate your loyalty and patience – I'd like to think it's about quality, not quantity. Well, you're in for a treat with this one. Last February, I helped organize and was honored to speak at the St. Louis City NAACP's Civil Rights Conference; and now, in partnership with the NAACP, we bring you a poignant and moving talk by one of the nation's finest legal minds, Debo Adegbile. But this speech is not lawyerly, no — this presentation is an emotional tour-de-force through the history of American Civil Rights, and if you're listening to the audio-only podcast, please take the time to pull up our YouTube Channel and see the short film that accompanies the talk. You'll also hear from my dear friend Adolphus Pruitt, President of the St. Louis City NAACP, sharing the impactful and momentous history of the St. Louis Chapter of our nation's largest and most widely recognized civil rights organization. This episode was a labor of love and I hope you enjoy this as much as I did in pulling it together. The war for freedom rages on.Russia's despicable invasion of Ukraine has become the largest land war in Europe since the ravages of World War II destroyed the continent, 77 years ago.The world has united in support of Ukraine – pouring in weapons, and other materiel, and imposing unprecedented economic punishment for the Russian banking system, oligarchs, and has begun to isolate the country. More needs to be done.Fears of nuclear conflict between NATO and Russia have driven the West's decision not to engage directly with Russian forces. The theory is, a no-fly zone would thrust NATO aircraft and military defense systems into directly destroying Russian military assets — an escalation which could lead to the hot war spilling out over the European continent, like 77 years ago. World War III. Today, we speak with Igor Novikov, a former advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Igor and his wife have courageously made the decision to stay in Kyiv with their two daughters, they've decided to take a stand, to stay in their home. He has called this war, the first “Social Media” war and also the first “three-dimensional war” — being fought on three interacting fronts — economically, militarily, and through information technology.Igor says there will be lessons learned from this war, and that his intention is to consolidate and help spur the changes needed — a defiant Ukraine against Russian aggression has united the world in knowing now that democracy and freedom cannot be allowed to slumber, or it will be gone.A Sunshine Paradigm Production INTENTION with Byron DeLearEPISODE 12: Zelenskyy former advisor puts life on the line, fights for Ukrainian freedom — Igor Novikov Written and Produced by: BYRON DE LEAR Special Guest: IGOR NOVIKOV Editor: YAVOR VESSELINOV Graphic Design: JONATHAN LEHMANN CAMBIUM CREATIVE Pictures and videos included from Ukraine portfolio fromwww.Depositphotos.comAuthors:rbc-dailyWlad_MusrepinanatolyscanrailDAMIANFilmsdmytro.drabyk@gmail.comlodtrk.gmail.comNikChalas.belinskaefesenkoYuriiKochubeypalinchakUpStock701PavelDorogoyWINTERLINEUkrinformBumble-Deedarvik.photography@gmail.comFotoresergAdditional photos:By Wikimedia:Kremlin.ruCouncil.gov.ruPond5:manumatasrescalonaIgor Novikov's personal archiveMusic:CO.AG MusicPond5 Music: Anton_GmpsoundcraftErickMcNerney
The UFO report is out. The reviews, mixed. The “preliminary assessment,” delivered to Congress from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, landed like a Rorschach test.On one hand, skeptics felt it confirmed there was nothing to the UAP phenomena. Just a bunch of fuzzy blurs. On the other, believers heralded the report as the leading edge of an official change in UFO policy — seventy years in the making. One thing's for certain, questions remain, as the report essentially states the same thing as declassified military memos from 1947 — UFOs are real, frequent, but we do not know what they are.Might there be something more elusive, more distant about the UFO phenomenon? Perhaps something less material and more psychological, even spiritual? On this 11th episode of Intention, we explore these more ephemeral aspects of the UFO subject. Helping us on this journey is Reverend Doctor John Denker, author of The Quantum God. John has a Ph.D in range ecology and a master's degree from the Iliff School of Theology at Denver University. He has been a minister with specialty in theology and philosophy in the United Methodist Tradition and now is an observant Jew in the reform tradition. Undoubtedly, following any revelation concerning the presence of non-human intelligences, many human systems would be thrown into upheaval. What religious traditions would survive this Copernican shift? ...and will our understanding of reality itself change if we find we're not alone?
It's been a steady drumbeat toward disclosure. For the last few episodes of Intention, we have focused on the burgeoning UFO / UAP topic. A groundbreaking story that is gaining momentum as the U.S. Government is set to release an unprecedented official report on UFOs in the near future. People are picking sides. In the past, observers of this narrative typically fall into one of two camps — skeptics and believers. But with recent developments, is there now a third category of ufology? One that is backed by hard evidence. Some believe so, some don't. Today, we speak with James Croft, Leader of the St. Louis Ethical Society – one of the largest Humanist congregations in the world. James is an accomplished humanist and a skeptic. We briefly debate the new evidence — the Tic Tac Nimitz Encounter, the Gimbal, and Go Fast videos, and the testimony of military professionals such as Lt. Ryan Graves and Luis Elizondo. A graduate of Cambridge and Harvard Universities, James was raised on William Shakespeare, Carl Sagan, and Star Trek; and it is in the spirit of famed humanist Gene Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek, that we come to this episode's guest on the topic of UFOs and the potential interaction between human, and non-human intelligent beings. If these recent pivotal events prove to be consequential, the human identity will be in flux for years — how will worldviews change if we find we're not alone?
It's a new era for the study of UAP. The UFO topic's popularity, and legitimacy has been bolstered by recent comments from individuals in the highest echelons of power — and they've all been saying the same thing.President Obama, CIA Chiefs John Brennan, James Woolsey, Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Directors of National Intelligence James Clapper, John Ratcliffe — the similarity in their message appears to be the leading edge of an official change in policy on UFOs; that the objects, performing otherworldly feats of aerodynamics, moving at thousands of miles an hour, pulling hundreds if not thousands of G-forces, are real, not imagined. With the information that we know, what does this tell us about these vehicles, about this technology? Today, my guest host Thomas Morrison and I, speak with Robert Powell, a founder of SCU — the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies. SCU is an association of scientists unpacking the data and have authored peer reviewed papers on UAP performance. Undoubtedly, there is another group of analysts, a shadow SCU- type group operating from within the Pentagon, and as more data and testimony become public, it is likely these efforts will begin to merge. This month, the U.S. Government will release an unclassified report on UAP… now that tens of thousands have turned into millions of people watching, what will it be like when we finally see the truth? For more information, please visit the Facebook Group "Advanced Aerospace Threat identification Program Discussion Cell (AATIP DC)" at:https://www.facebook.com/groups/AATIPDiscussionCellScientific Coalition for UAP Studies - June 4 & 5 conference https://www.explorescu.org/conferencesPhysics Frontiers Podcast https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/physics-frontiers/id1171827836UFOs and Government: A Historical Inquiryby Michael Swords and Robert Powellhttps://www.amazon.com/UFOs-Government-Historical-Michael-Swords/dp/1933665580/The Truth About UFOs: A Scientific Perspectiveby Robert Max Powell (Author), Reena S Powell (Cover Art)https://www.amazon.com/Truth-About-UFOs-Scientific-Perspective/dp/1087891493
In December of 2017, the lid blew off the UFO topic. Now, even today, that might sound a little fringe, but the reality is America's state-of-the-art top secret military sensor systems, on Navy aircraft, ships, our pilots, our reconnaissance satellites that comprise multiple cross-referenced data streams have confirmed unknown physical objects performing extraordinary feats of maneuverability. Movements and airframes that defy our current understanding of the laws of aerodynamics, even the laws of physics. In short, we are seeing evidence of technology and propulsion systems far beyond current capabilities perhaps hundreds of years, even thousands of years beyond our grasp. In December 2017, the New York Times published a paradigm-busting story about the official secret Pentagon program investigating these craft, and the former head of the program, Luis Elizondo. Today's UFOs – or UAPs, unidentified aerial phenomena --- are not your tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theories of the past. The vehicles are real, not imagined. And Luis is truth telling like no other. In interview after interview he says the evidence is “overwhelming, beyond compelling,” and today, my guest host, Rocky Swanson and I spoke with him about his service, his drive, and his intention… In one month the U.S. government will release an unclassified report on UAP… what will it be like when tens of thousands turn into millions of people clamoring for the truth? For more information, please visit the Facebook Group "Advanced Aerospace Threat identification Program Discussion Cell (AATIP DC) at:https://www.facebook.com/groups/AATIPDiscussionCellEdited by Yavor Vesselinov
It's hard to believe the election is here, but its been here ever since North Carolina started early voting on September 4th. Now some 95 million have voted early and its this high turnout that promises to deliver a few surprises on Tuesday; and the Show Me State may be perfectly primed for such a surprise. Traditionally a bellwether, only in the last few cycles has Missouri performed reliably Republican. In this seventh episode of Intention, host Byron DeLear is joined by his life partner, Vicki Englund, who is the 2020 Democratic Nominee for Missouri State Treasurer. They discuss running statewide as a democrat and why Missourians are showing up with supermajority support for healthcare and unions yet play the political parties like rooting for the home team in sports. Rural red, urban blue, suburb purple - can Missouri be built back to its bellwether reputation?
There have been startling and unprecedented events in the run up to the 2020 Presidential Election. In this election-special episode of Intention, host Byron DeLear is joined again by his friend, attorney and geologist Tom Appelbaum (EP2 How General Washington Would Fight the Virus War and How Trump Mismanaged It). They discuss all the craziness surrounding the 2020 election and issues such as climate change, Clean Energy for Biden, the rise of conspiracy theories and the spread of disinformation, media compartmentalization, whether or not there will be a new Civil War -- and finally, how to explain Trumpism to future historians in 2100 CE.
At this fragile time brought on by a global pandemic, economic crisis, and civic unrest, the resiliency of the American experiment is being tested. In this fifth episode of Intention, host Byron DeLear speaks with actor, artist, and activist Ricco Ross about the revolution taking place after the murder of George Floyd. They discuss who is participating in the protests and how efforts to tackle institutional racism have gone global. “Black Lives Matter” is now mainstream and the murder of George Floyd has become a catalyst for real movement on police reform. Byron breaks down the history of Juneteenth, Jim Crow laws, segregation, and connects those policies with the construction of confederate monuments which are now being pulled down. Can America meet this moment? Will her citizens have the capacity to shoulder the responsibility and embrace the need for change? These are the larger questions asked and answered in “Juneteenth, George Floyd, and the Revolution to Fulfill America's Potential.”
In this fourth episode of Intention, host Byron DeLear speaks with award-winning cinematographer Dave Rutherford about freelancing during COVID-19 and what media production companies and producers are doing to continue their work. With sporting events and travel canceled, political campaigns paused, and television and films put on hold, what are professionals doing about their livelihood? Is how we communicate changing? What are freelancers doing about the economic shutdown? Dave and Byron discuss what it's like covering protests while being hit with tear gas in Ferguson, Missouri, producing political commercials for Governors, covering presidential campaigns like for Joe Biden, and being the go-to crew for ABC News and George Stephanopoulos. Dave talks about public policy impacting media, the benefits of film tax credits and how they've boosted the economy of Georgia by billions and why they should be restored in states that have stopped them, like in Missouri. Finally, is there a way to pull out of this calamity a new outlook, a new way to communicate and be human? Perhaps.
In this third episode of Intention, host Byron DeLear converses with global talent acquisition expert Tate Orick about how the economy has been ravaged by the coronavirus crisis and what people can do about job security and job loss. What's the best mindset we can adopt to face the reality we are all experiencing? What issues are small businesses dealing with in applying for federal stimulus and the Paycheck Protection Program? Tate also provides guidance and advice for those who have lost their jobs, updating your resume, interview tips, and most importantly maintaining a positive outlook despite dark clouds overhead.
In this second episode of Intention, host Byron DeLear converses with attorney, geologist, and clean-energy executive Tom Appelbaum about the coronavirus crisis and his work as a lawyer for county government during this time. Has the crisis management style of President Trump been a success? And how would our first president, George Washington fight the virus war? Privacy rights and potential public policy changes are discussed and what we can expect from the aftermath of COVID-19.
In this debut episode of Intention, host Byron DeLear discusses the Covid-19 crisis with clean energy advocate and attorney, James Owen. How has this crisis impacted the clean energy industry and what businesses are considered "essential"? As the virus spreads to more communities, some are still in denial favoring conspiracy theories which sadly provide comfort in uncertain times; and President Trump has not helped. Has the President turned a corner finally listening to his experts? Will there even be an election this November? Dystopian Hollywood has produced countless apocalyptic tales that in a surreal way seem all too familiar now. What role have movies and shows like 28 Days Later, Walking Dead, Westworld, and The Handmaid's Tale played in how people view the real crisis? And where is this all going, a new "Zoomified" economy, the sacrifice of data privacy and civil rights? Tune in for this fascinating discussion from two dads from Missouri looking out at the nation and world from the Heartland of America.
