Brother Jon Nations tells us about the TRUE light of the world! | July 5, 2020
Continuing our study of aplogetics, we have seen the historical reliability of the crucifixion of Jesus and the implications it had on the world around Him. Now we look at things that were said, even by those who did not believe Jesus to be the Son of God. What good can we learn and how can we use this information to bring others to the conclusion that there is life in Jesus? Give this sermon a listen.
Continuing our look into apologetics, we move now to the historical record of the cross of Christ. When talking to someone who is critical or doubtful of your faith, are there things that we can agree on or are we destined to live in perpetual dissent? In this lesson, we try to find and consider those statements which both the skeptic and the believer alike can agree, these things happened! And if so, what do we do with that information?
In a time when it is easy to feel overwhelmed by turmoil and uncertainty; we still have a solid refuge in the Lord. Consider the situation of the Judah as Assyria moved ever closer in their conquest of the land. Where would they turn to, who would deliver them? What would be their stability in uncertain times?
When you attempt to tell someone about your faith, it is not uncommon to find sharp disagreements based on previously held thoughts and assumptions. What do you do in moments like that? How do you proceed. This lesson seeks to illustrate the point that ALL people have biases. When we recognize them, we can begin to determine if they are hindering our search for truth.
Where is your focus? On your own ability or the ability of a preacher? Do you view success in terms of others response or in terms of your own labor? Paul teaches the church in Corinth to stop looking with worldly wisdom and start seeing that God is in control. It is His labor and we are just servants in His kingdom. How might that change your view of the work YOU can do for Him?
What is faith? So many in the world today misuse this word to promote gullibility claiming Christians just follow blind faith. But is this true? What is biblical faith and how should it shape out lives?
Continuing our look at fear, we look at the words spoken to Paul when he was facing very fearful times. What can we learn from God's Word which can help us and help others to Not Be Afraid Any Longer.
Fear can be a life saving defense mechanism or a life crippling obstacle. For so many, fear controls their lives and manipulates their thinking. How can we ever be free from fear? Join us as we examine the characteristics of God and learn how we can be Set Free From Fear.
Visiting guest speaker, Jim Hardy, examines a topic that has polarized the religious world. Homosexuality. A question many are asking is, "Has the church got homosexuality wrong?" Some have suggested that because of the belief that the Bible is infallible, homosexuality should not be condoned in the church and this is leading to it's destruction in the modern day. Listen to this sermon as Brother Hardy asks the question, "Is the Church Killing Itself?"
Paul concludes the Thessalonian letter, having reminded the Christians there of the great gift God and how that should influence their conduct. As you listen consider the value of he gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus that has been made available to you, God is faithful to bring these things to pass, how will you conduct yourself?
Have you ever struggled with the "Why" and the "How" things happen? Why does justice get perverted? Why do bad people get away with good things and good people get treated badly? How can God allow these things to happen? Listen to today's sermon, Trusting God in a Godless Society to see how one Jewish man, Habakkuk learned from God to trust in Him, draw strength from Him, and be saved by Him!
Paul instructs the Thessalonians to, "excel still more". For many of us, that can be our goal too. However, our pursuit for growth can bring with it new difficulties. It is important we have the proper attitudes towards reaching our goals. Thankfully, Paul also provides us a great attitude towards reaching our goals...and our prize.
Why do we have hope in return of Christ? Why do we have trust in the sacrifice of Christ? Why do we labor for His kingdom? We are Sons of Light! And that changes our thoughts and our actions! Listen to this sermon and reflect on your own life. Does it reveal that you also are a Son of Light?
Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the oppression and wickedness in this world? The Jews in Nahum's day had much to be overwhelmed by with the Assyrian Empires violent and evil actions taking over the world. Listen to God's message to them and see that God still sees what's going on and is still able to help His people!
With so many churches all claiming to have the truth, all claiming to lead others to the Father, and all teaching things that often times contradict one another...how can I know if I'm on the right path to the heaven? Listen to the words of Jesus as He teaches how we can know the path, and enter the door which leads to the Father!
What makes for good evangelism? Is it complicated? Is it something that only the super intelligent can do? Take a look at John 4 with us as we learn from Jesus about speaking to others about the wonderful gift of God!
When a fire breaks out we quickly give it our attention! We don't wait around and see how it will end or try to just ignore it, but often times this is how people react to anger. When you feel anger burning within you, how do you respond? Check out this sermon that seeks to help "Battle the Inner Fire of Anger".
Suffering comes upon us all. This seems to be a guarantee in life, we will suffer. Why did this happen? What did I do to deserve this? These questions arise as we try and make sense of seemingly senseless acts. This sermon offers some ways we can deal with suffering and magnify our Savior.
In this overview of the book of Micah we learn that the leaders and preachers of Gods people had abandoned the Lord and cared more for themselves than anyone else. God's people had also abandoned the Lord and judgement was coming because of the sin of the people...however restoration would come in the form of a ruler born in Bethlehem. Give this sermon a listen as we seek to find out how our attitude towards God effects or lives before Him.
What does God want for you? Paul gives this message to a thriving congregation in Thessalonica, things are going well but beware, God desires you to be sanctified! What does that look like? This sermon seeks to find that out.
David was a man after God's own heart, but also a man with many problems! He suffered at the hands of others and even because of his own sinful actions...but through it all David was able to strengthen himself in the Lord...give a listen to this sermon which seeks to find how one can be, Strengthened in the Lord.
