The unwillingness of others to repent will not hold the saints hostage. Hell cannot blackmail heaven into misery.
Paul began his letter to the Romans with an explanation of the gospel. After his introduction, he goes into a deep dive to explain why the only solution to humanity's problems is the gospel of Jesus Christ. To learn more join us in Sunny Swissvale!RiverCityPGH.com
The title of this sermon may not inspire a lot of people listen to it. The title is The Wrath of God. I think it is fair to say that a lot of people don't see what God has to be angry about. Why in the world would God be so mad about some of the things going on out here in the world? He may be a little bit annoyed about it all; but angry, wrathful? When people read scriptures about the wrath of God, they shiver a little bit; but I think, they really, really, don't understand.Someone asked the question, Why did God have to kill the firstborn of Egypt, just to get the Israelites out? After all, he is God. He is sovereign. He is all-powerful. Couldn't he have found a better way to get the children of Israel out of Egypt than have to kill all the firstborn of Egypt? The kids had not done anything had they?To us, the generations of Israelites held in slavery is just so many words on paper. We read it. We open the Bible, we know what's there, and we forget. I think we don't have a grasp for this, to really understand why God did what he did: not only why he did it, but why it had to be done that way.I am going to take a shot and try to help you understand the wrath of God, to understand the anger of God, and I want you to turn back to the first chapter of the Book of Exodus, to a passage of Scripture that is very familiar, I think, to most of us, but one which I think has not been explored in the kind of depth that it needs.
In this episode I explore the relationship between God's active and passive wrath, demonstrating how God's wrath is often manifested by Him allowing people to suffer the consequences of their sins, which is what Paul has in mind when he thrice says that God “handed them over” to sinfulness in Romans 1. Romans 1 and Romans 6, focusing especially on Paul's understanding of obedience, participation in Christ, sanctification, and the Christian life. I discuss the theological categories of “active” and “passive” obedience and consider whether these categories always fit neatly within Paul's participatory and covenantal framework. A central theme throughout the episode is the idea that Paul does not merely present salvation as a legal declaration detached from transformation, but rather as incorporation into the Messiah himself. Romans 6, in particular, emphasizes dying and rising with Christ, liberation from the reign of sin, and becoming enslaved to righteousness. I argue that Paul's theology consistently frames obedience within the context of union with Christ and the work of the Spirit rather than autonomous moral achievement. The episode also explores how Romans 1 introduces many of the themes Paul develops throughout the letter, including the “obedience of faith,” the kingship of Christ, the gospel as the fulfillment of Scripture, and the transformation of the people of God through participation in the Messiah. Along the way, I discuss tensions within Protestant theological traditions regarding sanctification, imputation, transformation, and participationist readings of Paul, while emphasizing the deeply Christological nature of Paul's gospel. The Wrath of God on Unbealivers
In our ongoing study of I Thessalonians, we explore a passage that, while seemingly for unbelievers, offers just as much of an application for believers too.
What does it mean when Paul says, “the wrath of God is revealed from heaven”? In this lesson from Romans 1, we explore a truth many avoid—God's wrath is real, but it is not uncontrolled rage. It is His righteous and just response to persistent rebellion.Paul shows that when people continually reject God, suppress truth, and refuse repentance, God's wrath is often revealed through abandonment—allowing sin to take its natural course. From Samson to Proverbs to Romans 1, Scripture warns that continued rejection of God leads to darkness, idolatry, brokenness, and destruction.Yet even in this warning, there is incredible hope. God has made Himself known through creation, through His Word, and ultimately through Jesus Christ. His desire is not condemnation, but salvation. Romans 5 reminds us that through Christ's blood, we are saved from the wrath to come. This sermon challenges us to ask:• Am I honoring God with gratitude and obedience?• Have I allowed truth to be suppressed in my life?• Am I moving toward God—or away from Him?God does not force our choice, but He does call us to choose. The good news is that no one has to remain under wrath—grace is available for all who turn to Him.
This Sunday, we continued in our Romans series. We unpacked Romans 1:18–32 to see what the Bible really means by the wrath of God and how getting what we want can actually lead us into bondage.Sent ChurchWeAreSent.church

Hundreds of years before the execution and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Isaiah proclaims that our only hope is in the coming Servant of God, and One who shocks us because he does not fit int our mold of what a Savior should be. Mike Lisk AKA AP Mike of THE BEST SHOW joins us once again and this time he's bringing Werner Herzog with him for AP MIKE'S HERZOG-A-MANIA!!! Mike first suggested doing a Herzog episode way back in our Noirvember 2024 episode (S3E15), but it took us over a year to get our most popular guest to discuss a German filmmaker so popular that he is now a meme--or even several of them. Rather than mine some obscure corner of Herzog's filmography--and there's a lot to mine--Mike goes straight for the heart (of darkness) with AGUIRRE WRATH OF GOD (1972)--the stoniest movie possible with Germans playing Spanish conquistadors and totally losing their shit both onscreen and IRL. In the title role we've got KLAUS KINSKI, a thoroughly terrible human being with an amazing face that is hard not to be captivated by--especially when you've been vaping Glitter Bomb with your new DaVinci EQ vaporizer all day. Look, the guy's been dead since 1991. We just want to enjoy the bastard's art. We don't want to make him Secretary of Health and Human Services or anything. And then to lighten things up, Cory chooses Les Blank's short film WERNER HERZOG EATS HIS SHOE (1980). And SPOILER: Werner Herzog does eat his shoe, although it was simmered in duck fat and hot sauce by the legendary Alice Waters of Chez Panisse in Berkeley not that helped very much. Werner ate his shoe as part of a bet with Errol Morris, so we also talk a bit about Morris's GATES OF HEAVEN (1978) but not so much that we can't feature that masterpiece in a future episode. Both Herzog movies and GATES OF HEAVEN are on Criterion Channel + AGUIRRE is also streaming on Fandor, Tubi, Pluto, Roku, and whole bunch of other places. BREAKING: AP Mike also tells us how he got kicked off of Facebook and Instagram for "selling drugs," and he gives us the lowdown on his new Patreon BEER BUDDIES where he and Tom Scharpling drink terrible beer. Plus we speculate on the end of social media, and Bob pays tribute some really cool friends who died recently. This sermon, The Consequences of Our Sin, reveals how sin creates separation from God and leads to spiritual consequences that only Jesus can resolve. It highlights that through justification, reconciliation, and salvation, believers are restored, protected from wrath, and brought into a right relationship with God.
Pastor Dana Kidder preaching from Revelation 16:1-7 at Redemption Bible Church in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
God's wrath is His firm, just, and severe opposition to and action against all that is evil. God's wrath is exercised after much patience, it is always judicial, and it is fierce.
The future can feel chaotic given the current circumstances of our world. Wars, rumors of wars, riots, unrest, etc. all add up to confusion and asking, What is going on? In this series, Be Prepared, we will explore Biblical prophecy. Not to encourage speculation or conspiracy theories, but we will explore Biblical prophecy with one goal: To know and love Jesus more.As we explore topics like The Millenium, The Return of Christ, The Rapture, The Antichrist and others, we will see how a clear picture of what will happen helps us to live prepared now. Because when you understand how the story ends, you live with confidence, hope, and unwavering commitment to know and love Jesus.
Remember God loves you so much he sent his Son Jesus Christ to take the punishment for your sins. You are of great value. Jesus loves you and He is just a prayer away!
In Week 8 of our Revelation series, we walk through Revelation chapters 15–18, where Scripture confronts a topic many Christians tend to avoid—the wrath of God. Rather than being uncontrolled anger, the Bible shows us that God's wrath is the righteous, pure, and perfectly appropriate expression of His justice. It is the necessary response of a holy God to evil and corruption in the world. These chapters reveal the pouring out of the final bowls of judgment and the ultimate fall of Babylon, a symbol of the world's systems that lure people away from God through power, wealth, and pleasure. But even in the midst of judgment, the Gospel shines clearly: At the cross, Jesus took the wrath we deserved so that we could receive mercy and grace. Revelation reminds us that the story ends with hope: Evil loses. Babylon falls. Jesus wins. And for those who trust in Him, restoration—not wrath—is the future.

How does the wrath of God shape the way a Christian lives? This message explores how a right understanding of God's wrath—seen in Scripture and ultimately borne by Christ on the cross—transforms the believer's life. When Christians grasp the wrath they deserved and the grace they received, it humbles them, deepens gratitude for the gospel, and changes how they treat others. It reshapes marriage, softens the heart toward forgiveness, and removes the impulse to keep a record of wrongs. Seeing that Christ drank the cup of wrath for us produces patience, mercy, and humility in every relationship.

Scripture reveals that God's kindness is not permission to remain unchanged, but an invitation to repentance, restoration, and new life in Christ. Walking through Romans, Pastor Mike Adkins reminds us that God's holiness and His goodness are not in conflict, but meet perfectly in His redemptive plan. This message calls us to see the weight of the cross more clearly and respond to God's grace with humility, gratitude, and transformed lives.

It's Tuesday, January 20th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Iran's Islamic regime has killed 16,500 protestors, injured 330,000 Shockingly, the death toll in the Iranian protests has topped 16,500 people, reports the Sunday Times. Iran's internet blackout has crossed its twelfth day. One of our sources has reported at least 11 Christians were killed by Iranian authorities over the last few weeks. According to Iran International, smuggled out reports indicate that 330,000 Iranians have been injured. One Tehran eye hospital, the Noor Clinic, documented around 7,000 eye injuries. This may be the highest death toll for a protest against government tyranny in modern history. By contrast, the Communist crackdown on Tiananmen Square protesters in Beijing, China in 1989 resulted in the deaths of up to 3,000 people. Leftists storm Minneapolis church in anti-I.C.E. disruption Here in the United States, anti-ICE protesters disrupted a house of worship in Minneapolis on Sunday. Listen. AUDIO: “ICE out. ICE out. ICE out. ICE out. ICE out. ICE out. ICE out. ICE out. ICE out.” Cities Church is pastored by Jonathan Parnell, a contributor to the Desiring God ministry, and father of eight children. The church was targeted because one of the pastors was employed by the ICE organization. Author Christopher Yuan wrote on X, “Pastor Jonathan Parnell handled himself so well in the midst of protestors disrupting his worship service. Pray for Cities Church to shine the light of the Gospel in the Twin Cities. Pray for the children who were probably traumatized by all this. This is the church where my friend David Mathis also serves as pastor as well as serving as executive director for Desiring God.” Thankfully, the Department of Homeland Security has arrested 10,000 illegals in Minneapolis, according to Secretary Kristi Noem. In addition, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi promised that “intimidation of Christians [is] being met with the full force of federal law.” Lesbian Renee Good's relative: Wrath of God vs ungodliness Much of the national furor has surrounded the killing of Renee Good, who reportedly had an altercation with an ICE agent in the Minneapolis area. Good has been touted by the media as “a good Christian,” yet at the time of her death, she was in what Romans 1 calls an unnatural and wicked relationship with another woman. Timmy Macklin, Renee Good's former father-in-law, and the grandfather of her 6-year-old son, was interviewed on CNN, on her tragic death. While stating his love for his former daughter-in-law, he warned of the wrath of God against ungodliness in this interview. Listen. MACKLIN: “I don't have any enemies. I love everybody, and that's what the Bible tells us. Love our neighbors as we love ourselves. But you know, I think there's some bad choices. The Word says, ‘For the wrath of God will come upon the children of disobedience.' (Ephesians 5:6) “I don't blame ICE. I don't blame Rebecca. I don't blame Renee. If we're walking in the Spirit of God, I don't think she would have been there. That's the way I look at it. 73,000 illegals arrested by ICE The stats are in for ICE arrests and detentions. 27% of those arrested already had criminal convictions on record, and roughly 7% were felons. That's about the same rates for the average American citizen. However, 100% of those arrested and detained, have allegedly violated the law by entering the country illegally. As of today, about 73,000 people are on ICE detention, up from 14,000 at the end of the Biden administration. That amounts to only half a percent of the number of illegal persons living in the country. The number of unauthorized migrants hit 14 million in 2023, up from 3.5 million in 2000. Also, for the record, 59% of illegal immigrant households receive welfare, as compared with 39% of native households. Romans 13 reminds us that the ruler is “God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. “Therefore, you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience' sake. For because of this, you also pay taxes, for they are God's ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.” Gold and silver hit new highs Gold scraped $4,700 an ounce and silver hit $95 an ounce in another hot market yesterday, reports InvestingNews.com. That's a 125% gain on gold and 332% gain on silver in two years. Central banks are favoring gold over U.S. Treasuries. Economists are pointing to escalating geopolitical risks and a weakening dollar as reasons that are driving the increases. About a third of new mine supply of gold is going to the central banks now. China, Brazil, Turkey and Poland are the largest purchasers in recent months. Denmark upset that America wants Greenland As the World Economic Forum is meeting this week, Denmark is conspicuously absent at the table as the nation's government protests the United States involvement, reports Forbes. President Donald Trump is still pushing for America's annexation of Greenland. Greenland's high abortion rate Speaking of Greenland, it's famous for its high abortion rate — the highest in the world. There are more abortions there than births every year. Also, in terms of public acceptance and early endorsement of homosexuality, Iceland, Greenland, and Denmark are the most pro-homosexual countries in the world. 68-year-old lost New Zealand man found after 17 days And finally, authorities in New Zealand called off the search for a hiker in the hinterlands of the Southern Island. A police post has announced that Graham Garnett, age 68, was found alive in the Kahurangi National park by contractors working the area, 17 days after he went missing. Psalm 107:5-8 says, “They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way; They found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses. And He led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city for a dwelling place. A spiritual and saving knowledge of God is the greatest need of every human creature. The foundation of all true knowledge of God must be a clear understanding of His attributes as revealed in Holy Scripture. An unknown God cannot be truly trusted, served, nor worshipped. In this book, an effort has been made to describe some of the principal perfections of His divine character. And if we are to truly profit from our perusal of the pages herein, we need to earnestly ask God to bless them to us, to apply His Truth to our conscience and heart, so that, by it, our lives will be transformed. We need something more than a theoretical knowledge of God. God is only truly known in the soul inasmuch as we yield ourselves to Him, submit to His authority, and regulate all the details of our lives by His holy precepts and commandments. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord (Hosea 6:3). If any man will do His will, he shall know (John 7:17). The people that do know their God shall be strong (Daniel 11:32). About the Author Arthur Walkington Pink (1886-1952) was an influential British Christian evangelist and biblical scholar known for his profound writings and teachings on Reformed theology. Born in Nottingham, England, Pink converted to Christianity in his early twenties, and lived a life devoted to the Lord. His passion for Scripture led him to pastorates in the United States and Australia, though he is best remembered for his prolific writing. Pink's works, including The Sovereignty of God and numerous articles in his monthly magazine, Studies in the Scriptures, have had a lasting impact in the body of Christ.

(God's Wrath or Righteous Judgment for Sin and Sinners must be distinguished from Persecution and disciplining that God permits to transform His people and restore them.)1 Thessalonians 5:1-11, note especially verse 9Paul says unequivocally in 1 Thessalonians 5:9 “That God did not appoint us to suffer [His] wrath or (righteous judgment) but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.” This righteous judgment must be distinguished from certain types of discipline that God directs toward us to correct and restore us (see 1 Peter 1:6-9).Even persecutions are permitted in the middle of our witnessing efforts as the devil's resistance to the spread of the gospel: for example, Jesus words to Saul at his radical conversion “Saul, by persecuting my people you are persecuting me.” (Acts 9:1-6)In fact, in many cases, the church has grown more in times of persecution than in more peaceful environments. Therefore, discipline and persecution that God permits, is meant to restore and prosper while God's righteous judgments (or wrath) has as its purpose to fairly punish God's opponents. Therefore, Paul's admonition in 1 Thessalonians 5:9 helps to distinguish these difficult experiences. Christians never experience God's wrath because of the Atoning Sacrifice of Our Lord Jesus Christ; Therefore, what is meant by the term “tribulation(s),” especially when used in context of the last days (promised especially in Daniel 9:24-27?)Some Christians believe in a literal 7-year tribulation period in the last days: they divide it into 2 parts of 3-½ years. The second part is referred to “the great tribulation.” This is a time of great persecution in which the Antichrist and his minions persecute God's people, especially in Jerusalem. This persecution will be interrupted by the Risen Christ, the ultimate dispenser of God's righteous judgment. Christians will be protected from this, how?The Christian church is divided on this answer. Some believe that Christ will return to do Holy War at the beginning of the 7-year tribulation period by The Rapture of the Church: both the dead in Christ first, then those Christians alive, that are transformed (1 Thessalonians 4:5-17). Others believe that this will occur mid-tribulation. Still others see the Rapturing of the Church and the Second Coming as One Event combining 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17 with Revelation 19. It gets really complicated! There is unity in the belief that the tribulations that Christians are allowed to go through in life are persecutions, tests, and trials to benefit His children, but divine righteous judgment of God have a whole different purpose: They don't restore, they mete out just punishments, while “tests and trials,” aim to restore and redeem. (Romans 8:28, James 1:2-4)The difference is important according to Paul in 1Thessalonians 5:9. We will always remain in God's hove, even though He might discipline us. Even in the last days and its tribulations, Christ will make sure that His believers are raptured or protected somehow from His righteous judgment. Paul is adamant concerning this point, here (verse 9) and at other passages: e.g., Romans 5:9-11 (read)
Why did Jesus share our flesh and blood, adding humanity to his divinity? To deal with all that stands opposed to our eternal good: I. Jesus disarms the devil, v14. II. Jesus delivers us from death, v15. III. Jesus diverts the wrath of God from us, vv16-17. IV. Jesus delivers help to us in our temptations, v18.
Flee from the wrath of God, tremble with joy that you are saved, and rescue others along the way.
