TODAY'S TREASURE…Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, “'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul. And I gave you your master's house and your master's wives into your arms and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah. And if this were too little, I would add to you as much more. Why have you despised the word of the Lord, to do what is evil in His sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and have taken his wife to be your wife and have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites. Now, therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.” Thus says the Lord, “‘Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house. And I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun.'” David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan said to David, “The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die. Nevertheless, because by this deed you have utterly scorned the Lord, the child who is born to you shall die.” 2 Samuel 12:7-14 ESVSend us a comment!Support the show

The account of Hosea and Gomer serves to teach us that God still has a plan for the nation of Israel, but it also serves a much more personal metaphor of redemption. In our time together, we consider the connection between the redemption of Gomer in Hosea 3, and our own redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ.
In week three of the Hosea series, Pastor Curt Taylor spoke about God's restoring love, a love that pursues us even when we've wandered far away. Drawing from the story of Hosea, he reminded us that God's heart is not to condemn but to restore His people to wholeness and relationship with Him. Through repentance and trust, we find the renewal and grace that only God can offer. Pastor Taylor encouraged us to open our hearts to that restoration and allow God to reshape our lives from the inside out. It was a powerful reminder that no amount of brokenness can stand against the restoring love of God.
Pastor Kevin teaches through Ruth 3:14–4:13, where Boaz promises to settle the matter of redemption at the city gate. He explains the legal customs of a kinsman-redeemer and how Boaz's public commitment reflects integrity and faith. The sermon shows how Ruth's faith and Boaz's obedience lead to marriage and God's restoration of Naomi's family line, pointing to the greater redemption fulfilled in Christ.

Rev. Daniel Mason, Ruth 4:1-12
In this study from Ruth 3, Pastor Kevin teaches on God's redeeming love, seen through the relationship between Ruth and Boaz. Naomi prompts Ruth to seek security through Boaz, the kinsman redeemer, who represents Christ as the one who rescues and restores us. The message highlights trusting God's prompting, trusting the Redeemer Himself, and trusting His promises. Pastor Kevin reminds believers that the Holy Spirit always points us to Jesus, that true love involves faith, humility, and commitment, and that redemption is a work of grace accomplished by Christ for all who choose to come to Him.
In this study from Ruth chapter 2, Pastor Kevin teaches on Ruth's faithful obedience and God's quiet providence as she goes to glean in the fields. Her encounter with Boaz shows how God works through everyday circumstances to provide and guide His people. The message highlights the steady faith, kindness, and integrity seen in Ruth and Boaz, and how these qualities reflect God's own care and faithfulness toward His people.
In this week's sermon we continue our series "Love Finds a Way" as we look at the story of Ruth and Boaz. We see how despite all circumstances, Ruth and Boaz find each other at a terrible point in life. Ultimately, God does incredible things with this relationship. We're glad that you made it to this sermon! We're also available on Youtube. For more information on our worship services or church as a whole, visit fbcwest.com
In the first week of the Hosea series, Pastor Curt Taylor unpacked the story of God's relentless, covenant love — a love that remains faithful even when His people are not. Using the striking command for Hosea to marry an unfaithful wife, Pastor Curt showed how God's relationship with Israel mirrors His enduring love for us, a love that keeps showing up despite betrayal. He contrasted our culture's conditional view of love with God's ḥesed — steadfast, loyal love that acts even when it's not returned. Ultimately, Pastor Curt proclaimed that Jesus fulfills Hosea's story — the One who not only forgives us but purchases us back, proving that His love truly will not let go.

In this opening study of the book of Ruth, Pastor Kevin reminds us that God is at work in the ordinary events of life, accomplishing His redemptive purposes even in seasons of loss and sorrow. Through Naomi's bitterness and Ruth's loyal love, we see a portrait of Christ's redeeming grace, God's love shining against the dark backdrop of a broken world. God's providence is never absent, His redemption is complete through Jesus our Kinsman-Redeemer, and His love can transform even the most painful past into hope and new beginnings.
On this episode, David Wollen opens Hosea to remind us that Gods grace is stronger than our unfaithfulness.

Send us a Question!REBROADCAST MOVIE DISCUSSION: Before Dune, Daniel saw a trailer for Redeeming Love. After the trailer played, he leaned over to his friend and said, "I think that's supposed to be a sexy Christian movie.". So, here we are talking about that "sexy Christian movie". Boy, there sure is a lot to talk about here. (originally released March 22nd, 2022)Topics: Redeeming Love contains some rather extreme and transgressive content despite having a serious lack of context. Daniel details some background for Redeeming Love, author/screenwriter Francine Rivers, and director D.J. Caruso. Redeeming Love is loosely based on the Minor Prophet book Hosea from the Bible. Each character feels devoid of personality which may work in both a shorter and more artistic film than Redeeming Love ends up being. Where Redeeming Love works is where it leans heavily into its "inspiration", but even then, that's not success from talent, that's success from... copying Scripture. Discussing the comparatively excessive conveniently censored nudity in Redeeming Love. Additionally, discussing all the other crazy content that borders on "Christian misery porn." As we continue our discussion, the 2+hour runtime of the film continues to be a recurring issue. At least the sets and outfits are fun! Questioning why the film didn't display the complicated dynamics of sexuality (gentle self-sacrifice vs aggressive selfishness) in a way that can be both edifying to its performers and beneficial to the narrative structure. One glaring issue throughout the film is each character's severe lack of agency. Observations from other reviews and responses to Redeeming Love. Is this a Christian exploitation film in the traditional sense of an exploitation film? CherryPop welcomes Abigail Cowen (Fate: The Winx Saga, Redeeming Love) to the podcast, who stars in two films out now. First up, Meg and Abigail dive into the wild and colorful world of Electra by the brilliant and vibrant mind of first-time feature film director Hala Matar. Cowen fondly talks about working with Hala and her love and appreciation for the passion and creative collaboration born out of independent filmmaking. “I wanted to act since I was like nine years old, and I never really got the opportunity, because I was in a small town in Florida that didn't have many theater opportunities or anything like that. I grew up on a farm, so I spent a lot of time outside making up stories. I've just always been fascinated by people and their stories—and understanding why people do what they do—and I think that's why I do what I do, and why I love it. It's been a passion of mine since I was very, very young.” -Abigail Cowen Next, the two discuss Cowen's powerful and physical work in The Ritual. In this horror film based on true events, she plays Emma Schmidt, a young woman undergoing multiple exorcisms alongside Hollywood legend Al Pacino. In addition, Abigail and Meg share their dislike of mornings, the need for better dreams, and an undying love for storytelling. “I really have enjoyed doing these smaller independent films, because it's a smaller crew. You have your director, who is usually also the writer. If you have an idea, you can throw it at them, and if they say no, they say no; if they like it, you can change it on the day in the moment. And having that smaller cast too to really hone in and collaborate with has been so fun for me, and so creatively fulfilling. [...] there is an air and just an energy on a set where everyone is on the same page, everyone is working the same amount and cares the same amount, which I've really fallen in love with.” - Abigail Cowen Electra is available on demand and you can watch The Ritual out now in theaters.
