On Lucas' last show, he and JD discuss how the Cardinals can win the trade deadline by targeting pitching, All signs point toward an improvement of the rotation coming. Will Frankie Montas be a Cardinal? How about Noah Syndergaard? If it means missing out on Juan Soto, getting 2-3 arms might be worth it for the Cardinals. We also share updates on Paul DeJong and Yadier Molina. What does DeJong's call up mean for the Cardinals moving towards the deadline? Molina got hit in the write at AAA Memphis last night, and it did not look pretty. To close the show, it's a preview of the Washington Nationals series. Soto Still the "Fun" Move, But the Cardinals Need Pitching

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 27, 2022 33:48

In a 10-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays last night, the need for pitching on this team came front and center. The St. Louis Cardinals are having a bad July, and a large part of that is the inability to get outs from the rotation. Last night, Andre Pallante was not super effective and he was followed by less-than-spectacular performances from Jordan Hicks and Junior Fernandez. Everyone is talking about Juan Soto, and rightfully so, but there is no denying that this team needs pitching in a bad way. JD and Lucas take a deep dive into the starting pitching market and look at who's realistically available for St. Louis. Lucas likes the intangibles of a Madison Bumgarner acquisition while JD really wants Pablo Lopez in a Cardinal uniform. With the way the market is shaping up, it's clear that the Cardinals are going to have to make multiple trades for arms to have what is considered a successful deadline. Segment three is a Juan Soto update as new reports are coming in as to what a return package could look like from the St. Louis Cardinals. WANT MORE DAILY ST. LOUIS CARDINALS CONTENT? It's hard to ignore a name and a talent like Soto, but the need for pitching on this team has us thinking twice. Also, the Cardinals are north of the border for a two game series with the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto is throwing their aces, while the Cardinals are without their two stars. Soto is going to demand a hefty package, one full of major league players and highly touted prospects. Another wrinkle? Patrick Corbin will likely be coming with Soto, as the Nationals are looking to off-load that contract.
