The stage is set with the Los Angeles Dodgers facing the Toronto Blue Jays in the fall classic! Clayton Kershaw will be on the Dodgers' World Series roster. Alex Vesia probably won't be, at least at the start. LA's starting rotation is set, and the Dodgers hitters are champing at the bit to face Toronto's pitching. Will Shohei Ohtani stay hot? Can Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Tyler Glasnow also continue to dominate on the mound? Will Max Muncy and Freddie Freeman feast on the righty-heavy Blue Jays rotation? Can Mookie Betts, Will Smith, Teoscar Hernandez, Tommy Edman, Andy Pages, and Kiké Hernandez pull their weight, too? And will LA's bullpen be a strength or a weakness? Yoshinobu Yamamoto saw Blake Snell's dominant performance in NLCS Game 1 and decided he wanted to get in on the action, hurling a gem of his own to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 5-1 victory and a 2-0 series lead. Yamamoto threw a complete game, completely shutting down the Brewers' offense after allowing a home run on the first pitch he threw. Meanwhile, the L.A. offense showed up with big homers from Teoscar Hernandez and Max Muncy and key RBI hits from Andy Pages, Shohei Ohtani, and Tommy Edman. All in all, it was a more relaxing win than Monday night, and now the Dodgers head back to Los Angeles in the driver's seat. Tube in all postseason long! On this episode of the Three-Inning Save podcast, the Dodgers swept the Reds in two games in the wild card series, and will next play the Phillies in the National League Division Series. Blake Snell and Yoshinobu Yamamoto each shined in their starts against the Reds. Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernández each homered twice in Game 1, then Mookie Betts had four hits, including three doubles in Game 2. Will Smith is back active but isn't catching yet, Michael Conforto was the odd man out in the wild card round and might face a similar fate against the lefty-heavy Phillies rotation. Plus, Tommy Edman's ongoing right ankle management, Roki Sasaki standing out, and more. The Three-Inning Save is part of the Fans First Sports Network. DV talks to Tommy before the Dodgers face the Reds in Game 2 of the NL Wild Card round.
Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernandez each homered twice, Tommy Edman added a homer of his own, and Blake Snell was dominant for seven innings as the Dodgers beat the Reds, 10-5, in Game 1 of the National League Wild Card Series. How did the Reds score five runs if Snell was so dominant, you ask? Well, you see, the Los Angeles bullpen was involved, so of course it wasn't as easy as we would have liked. Alex Vesia struggled, Edgardo Henriquez was terrible, and the Reds put up a fight in the eighth inning. Luckily, it was too little, too late, and the Dodgers complete the win. Join Clint Pasillas, Jeff Snider, and Kevin Skinner to talk about the good, the bad, and the other good (plus the bad that is ESPN). Tube in all season long! On this episode of the Three-Inning Save podcast, we look ahead to the wild card series between the Dodgers vs. Reds, including Blake Snell vs. Hunter Greene in Game 1 on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium. Plus, Yoshinobu Yamamoto starts Game 2 for the Dodgers, it's likely Max Muncy and Tommy Edman will be back in the lineup on Tuesday after missing time last week. Will Smith took batting practice on Monday night's workout at Dodger Stadium, and could be active after missing most of the last three and a half weeks. And Dave Roberts said he expects Roki Sasaki will be on the Dodgers roster in the bullpen. The Three-Inning Save is part of the Fans First Sports Network. On this episode of the Three-Inning Save podcast, the Dodgers return home after a terrible 1-5 road trip against two last-place teams in the Pirates and Orioles. Yoshinobu Yamamoto was one out away from a no-hitter on Saturday in Baltimore, but instead the Dodgers bullpen suffered a second walk-off loss in a row. Also last week, both catchers got injured, two starting pitchers were scratched, plus more on the offense struggling for over two months, 40-man roster decisions coming, plus pending returns of Max Muncy, Alex Vesia, and Tommy Edman from the injured list. The Dodgers didn't have an angry win on Sunday. They didn't have an emotional win fueled by anger over how Saturday's game ended. No, they just came out and played like they were better than the opposing team, which is how they SHOULD play against the last-place Orioles. But it's also how they should have played against the last-place Pirates and against the fourth-place Diamondbacks and, for that matter, these same last-place Orioles the first two games of the series, and they didn't. So we'll take a businesslike victory like today's. Jeff Snider is here to talk about the Dodgers getting great performances from three future Hall of Famers: Clayton Kershaw, Shohei Ohtani, and Mookie Betts. They also got contributions from most of the rest of the team. We'll also dig into the news that Max Muncy and Alex Vesia are returning from their respective oblique injuries on Monday, with Tommy Edman not far behind, and the corresponding roster moves that are coming. Tube in all season long! Leave a voicemail or text the Friend of the Show hotline!
In this pregame episode of the All Dodgers podcast, Jeff Snider delivers important updates centered around the Dodgers' pitching and injury situation ahead of their game against the Baltimore Orioles. The primary news is the scratching of starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow due to back tightness, a recurring issue that raises some concern given his injury history. Shohei Ohtani is set to start in Glasnow's place, although he is expected to have a limited outing of three to four innings due to a recent illness that caused him to miss a start. The podcast also provides updates on other key injured Dodgers players including Max Muncy, Tommy Edman, Will Smith, and several pitchers on rehab assignments or sidelined for the season. There is optimism about the possible return of some players like Muncy and Edman in the coming weeks, which could bolster the struggling Dodgers offense and improve defensive alignment. The bullpen is expected to be heavily relied upon in today's game, but the Dodgers remain favorites to win despite the pitching shuffle. Additional mentions include the ongoing management of Will Smith's hand injury and the status of several pitchers unlikely to return this year. The episode concludes with encouragement to follow the Dodgers community on social media and the podcast's Discord server for more real-time updates and discussions. Highlights [00:20] ⚾ Tyler Glasnow scratched from start due to back tightness. [02:00]
