[10:05] Your Health is Your Wealth · Conventional medicine in America is often called "health care," but it's "sick care" because it only focuses on treating symptoms and doesn't teach people how to be healthy. · Wake Up and Aikido camp teaches people how to be healthy and is an example of health care. · Eating clean and caring for your body is important for optimal health and can lead to a smaller, less leaky gut with fewer toxins seeping through. · It's okay to occasionally eat less healthy foods if your gut is healthy and able to handle it. · The goal is progress, not perfection, and developing metabolic flexibility is important for long-term health. [17:15] What to Look For When Buying Red Meat · Labels on meat products can be misleading and is often a selling tactic. · Consumers should be aware of the terms used, such as "natural," "no hormones," "no antibiotics," "grass-fed," "vegetarian fed," etc. · Most cows are fed inflammatory foods like grains, which can lead to health problems for the cows and the consumers who eat their meat. · Some cows are even fed candy bars to fatten them up for more profit. · High-quality meat is important for better nutrition and anti-inflammatory properties. · Grass-fed and finished is the best option, as it means the cow has eaten grass from start to finish of its life. [22:05] The Worst Artificial Sweeteners vs The Best Sugar Replacements Some inflammatory artificial sweeteners are sucralose and brown rice syrup. At the same time, some recommended sugar replacements are Coconut Sugar (less refined, lower glycemic index), Pure Maple Syrup, Non-GMO Monkfruit, Dates (and date syrup), and Raw Honey. · Brown rice syrup may be perceived as healthy but is often found in products with other inflammatory ingredients. · The recommended sugar replacements are less refined and often have better nutritional value than artificial sweeteners. · Stevia is disliked due to the harsh chemicals used to extract it, which can cause gut disruption for some people. · Monk fruit is a better alternative, as it has a zero glycemic index and does not cause the same issues as stevia. · Many people have noticed positive digestion and overall health changes after eliminating stevia from their diets. [28:50] Is Oatmeal Actually Healthy For You? · Oats can be considered in the gray area of healthy foods due to their pros and cons. · Most oats are sprayed with glyphosate, a pesticide that promotes inflammation and can harm health. · Oats are high in phytic acid, an anti-nutrient that prevents the body from absorbing necessary nutrients. · Too much phytic acid can lead to gut issues, inflammation, arthritis, and brain fog. · Organic and sprouted oats are better options for consuming oats. [47:55] The Top 5 Most Commonly Asked Questions About Food Labels · Consume high-quality protein from grass-fed beef, mackerel, and fish instead of relying on protein bars. Read the labels on coffee creamers carefully and choose cleaner options like Three Trees almond milk, which contains only water and almonds, cashews, or walnuts. Eating real, whole foods to improve health and well-being. Notice how certain foods make you feel and adjust your diet accordingly. Liposomal vitamin C is better absorbed into the body and can be more effective than traditional vitamin C supplements. Many people avoid bread while dieting, but it's not necessary. However, keep in mind to avoid grains and pseudo-grains. AND MUCH MORE! By 1991, Moving Targets were already well established in the Boston music scene upon the release of their third full-length, Fall. Lead by Kenny Chambers on vocals and guitar, the band that started out playing Husker Du-esque hardcore evolved like their contemporaries, downshifting the tempos and finding more melody. Tracks like "Answer" and "Away From Me" were primed for college radio alongside The Replacements, Goo Goo Dolls, Dramarama, and other post-punks finding their songwriting footing. The twists and turns, like using an e-bow on a mid-album instrumental track, add a layer of creativity not many other post-hardcore bands would attempt, even if the payoff doesn't always hit. As always, when a friend comes to town, we come to talk to business. And no one knows numbers quite like Mike Carrozza. Two Mikes? That's too many. If one thing ties us all together, it's Jersey City (the sixth borough). We have t-shirts now if you want one (I bet you do). If it isn't abundantly clear we're dudes in our 30s, we genuinely have to check in with each other to make sure "Hey, it's not your birthday today, right?" Realtors and eggs- the final combat. On April 2, 2023, the music world lost a pivotal figure in Seymour Stein. As a teenager, Stein worked for Billboard Magazine and was instrumental in the development of the standard bearer for measuring pop music success in the United States, the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 1966, Stein co-founded Sire Records with Richard Gottherer. In the earliest days of the label, much of their focus was on bringing UK underground and progressive music to US record buyers, with distribution deals with London and ABC. Stein's most fruitful alliance was with Warner Brothers, where Sire was responsible for breaking punk, new wave, and alternative artists including Ramones, Talking Heads, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Replacements, The Ocean Blue, and many more to American audiences...not to mention one of the biggest pop stars to walk the earth, Madonna. We salute the spectacular Sire Records catalogue and remember Seymour Stein this week. Our Third Lad is a self-professed rock n' roll historian and fellow Sire Records afficionado, Brian Eichenberger from the wonderful podcast Rock n Roll Bedtime Stories. Each week, Brian and his friend/co-host Murdock go deep to discuss (and set straight) the rumor, innuendo, and hidden details that surround some of your favorite bands and songs. We're big fans of the show, and think you will be too! It's only fitting for Brian's appearance that we tell a few titillating bedtime stories during the episode: How Seymour Stein chased Dee Dee Ramone out of his bedroom! Sire passes on a legendary guitarist! The artist who pestered Seymour in the hospital! Crazy Phil Spector! Find out who Uncle Gregg nearly punched! Fake bands and unscrupulous managers! Fake TV songs! Tiffany! So tuck yourself in tight and let us aurally cuddle with you. Only Three Lads is a proud member of the Pantheon Podcasts family. Learn more about your ad choices. The IL spot has been put to good use as of late and finding injury replacements for your lineup can be tricky. The position that seems to be getting hit the hardest is shortstop. While it may have been the deepest position, waiver wire options are thin. We also break down closer situations including the one in Colorado. There are some upcoming pitching matchups we have our eyes on. As always, don't forget to follow the show and leave a five-star review! You don't want to miss any new episodes. In October of 1982 The Replacements released their third studio album. It is rightfully considered one of the greatest albums ever made and a reminder of what could have been if the band had ever managed to get their act together. Lets shoot for the middle and talk The Replacements, Let It Be!
Robbie Ray was placed on the IL this weekend and we need replacements. Is Graham Ashcraft the top option? What about waiver wire hitters? Yoan Moncada, Spencer Steer or Elehuris Montero? It's not like Material Issue is the most obscure or overlooked band in the history of Chicago music, but no matter how many power pop music fests get named after them (like the long running International Pop Overthrow festival — which takes its name from their classic debut album), they will always land towards the top of the list of the city's most underrated bands. And now there's a new documentary —“Out Of Time: The Material Issue Story”— that seeks to rectify that injustice. We talked to drummer Mike Zelenko about the love the band's been getting at the recent sold out Q&As for the movie, as well as his experiences recording in Scott's hometown at the Shoes studio, going to high school with Mike O'Connell, opening the Replacements' final show, Michael Chapman, tuna subs, fucking Enuff Z'nuff, the aftermath of Jim Ellison's suicide, and Ted Ansani's legendary pompadour.
We begin our Lenten journey together in a series that we are calling From The Ashes. We'll be spending each week of lent diving into some hard truths about ourselves that when we examine them, help bring us closer to the truth of who we are, whose we are, and how we can be closer to God.Week 6 - You Are ReplaceableWeek 5 - You Are Capable Of Quite LittleWeek 4 - You Won't Be RememberedWeek 3 - You Aren't That SmartWeek 2 - You Are Going To DieWeek 1 - Don't Trust Ourselves
“The Bounty“ As the plot—and goo—thickens, the Titan visits the Fleet Museum to meet an old friend while Worf, Raffi, and Riker burgle the very institution that is hunting them. The layover leaves ample time for nostalgia, Easter eggs, and a leisurely, but meaningful, walk down memory lane. In this episode of The Artificial Tango, hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing continue our week-by-week examination of Star Trek: Picard Season 3 with Part 6, “The Bounty.” We discuss the unexpected reactions and discoveries, the rich tapestry of Trek past, the prevelant themes of family and replacement, and the many attempts at misdirection. “That was the first time that music really hit me on an emotional level” says this week's guest, Jackson Griffith, when discussing the first time he heard The Beach Boys. Jackson came from a broken home and a friend of his mother gave him a transistor radio where he first discovered & loved early Motown and the 60's girl groups. It was at his first concert in 1969 that he heard a band, Santana, two months before their debut album was released.Jackson tried for a long time to get a job at Tower Stockton but was stiffed by the managers. When Phil Minas took over as manager in 1977 he hired him. Jackson did store artwork and slowly grew into a jazz fanatic As things got crazy in the store (have a gun pulled on you for not returning two LPs?) Jackson moved out to the brand new 24 hour Tower store in Las Vegas.Jackson bounced around Tower locations until a legal matter caused him to leave the company and he moved back to Stockton to deal with it. He returned to Tower in 1983 at the new Stockton location with Tom Pompei at the helm, but hisgoal was to get out of working in the store and work in the Corporate Office. Seeing a notice for an editorial assistant at PULSE! Magazine, Jackson submitted a number of record reviews to Mike Farrace and was hired. At PULSE! Jackson found his voice and jumped into magazine production and writing. Not every assignment wentaccording to plan. Artist Shelby Lynne simply did not want to be interviewed the day he showed up to talk to her. And how do you spend a week in Minneapolis profiling The Replacements? Drunk enough to have tapes full of gibberish, calling the band on the phone to get quotes to flesh out your story.Jackson talks about all of this and more in a wide-ranging episode you won't want to miss.
A Re-mastered version of Episode 7 with improved audio. In this original installment, we looked at the various Captains America.

Join me as former Soul Asylum guitarist Dan Murphy makes his long-awaited return not only to this show but to the music industry as a whole! In this episode, Dan talks about his new band the Scarlet Goodbye (https://thescarletgoodbye.com/) and its brand-spanking new debut album Hope's Eternal. The band is a duo, with Dan being joined by fellow Minneapolis singer/songwriter Jeff Arundel. Dan left Soul Asylum and the music biz about 10 years ago, reappearing every now and again for a one-off Golden Smog show. Dan recounts what led him back to music, how much the industry has changed over the last decade, and how he and Jeff became fast friends during the pandemic to write and record this album. We discuss four songs—Angel Dust, Panic & Blame, Julieann, and Celebrated Summer. Dan talks about how Husker Du—and Bob Mould in particular—influenced and mentored him during Soul Asylum's early years. We cover a ton of ground in this episode, so sit back, grab a beer, and listen in!
My sons have been Jiu-Jitsu devotees since the age of eight. I initially joined then but, regrettably, didn't keep up the practice, though they've continued to flourish under the tutelage of today's podcast guest coach Adam Smith. But Coach Adam is much more than a youth and adult Jiu-Jitsu coach. A lifelong Martial Arts competitor and teacher, Adam has won many traditional Martial Arts tournaments. After moving on to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Mixed Martial Arts, Adam “Smash” Smith has earned a strong reputation as a high-level competitor and an expert-level teacher. Adam holds a Black Belt in American Kenpo Karate (Ed Parkers system), and a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (under Jiu-Jitsu Master Marcelo Allonso Novais). Now, Adam has three of his own Martial Arts Academies (SMASH Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) and plans to continue to build a strong team dedicated to changing lives. With more than 250 current students and thousands of former students, “Smash” is known for his ability to teach anyone, starting as young as three years old. Adam has taught special needs students for over 15 years and has well-known expertise in working with a variety of people with different disabilities. At 18 years old, Adam moved into a fire station where he became a certified firefighter and emergency medical technician (a certification he has held for 12+ years) while gaining firsthand experience saving lives and property in the Spokane area. After growing up as a poor and underprivileged athlete himself, Adam started a non-profit (Give Back Tournaments) and hosts Jiu-Jitsu tournaments to raise funds that pay for athletic endeavors for underprivileged student-athletes. This past year, Adam had double hip replacements three months apart but is back training and working to win world titles. With the fourth installment of the 'John Wick' franchise heading to theaters tomorrow, we decided to take a look at some of our favorite Keanu Reeves films that didn't score so high on the Tomatometer. On today's show, special guests Clarke Wolfe and Winston A. Marshall join Mark to present a Keanu movie they would defend to eternity. In chronological order of release, Mark chose 'The Replacements' from 2000 and Winston chose 'Hardball' from 2001, which are both Rotten at 41% on the Tomatometer, while Clarke selected the more recent Eli Roth film 'Knock Knock,' which is even more Rotten at 37%.Do you agree with these scores? Do you feel like Keanu gets a bad rap when it comes to his range as an actor? The panel discusses all this and more!If you'd like to give your thoughts on these movies or have another movie you feel like Rotten Tomatoes got wrong, email us at RTisWrong@RottenTomatoes.com.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This is another of those shows that really has no format. It’s pretty much a rundown of the music I’ve been listening to around the house the last couple of weeks. There’s some great reissued vinyl by Thee Headcoats, Beat Happening, Bottle Rockets, and others. There’s old faves pulled out of the stacks by the likes of Jason and the Scorchers, Hypstrz, Curtiss A, and (shockingly) The Replacements. But I also made room for some new tunes, highlighted by the return of Minneapolis faves High on Stress with their new single, “Over/Thru”. I have no word as of this point whether it’s a sneak preview of a new full-length album, but I’m obviously hoping that’s the case. Other new tracks include tunes by Huck 2, The Downhauls, Lone Wolf, and The Tearaways. As for the “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks”series, I aired one of the more interesting remakes that I’ve found of this fabulous song. The story goes that at some point many years ago, former Young Ones star Adriam Edmondson “accidentally” bought a mandolin. After learning a few chords he began to play a few old punk rock faves. This led to him forming a Celtic-leaning band, The Bad […]
