We had the pleasure of interviewing Steve Conte  over Zoom video!  New York City guitarist, singer and songwriter Steve Conte has found the way back to center stage with his first solo album in five years, the attitude-infused Bronx Cheer, out now on Wicked Cool Records.Long known for his memorable guitar work as a member of New York Dolls, as well as former Hanoi Rocks frontman Michael Monroe's band (with whom he still performs), Steve found international fame in recent years via his collaborations with Japanese composer and artist Yoko Kanno on the soundtracks to several hit anime series, including Cowboy Bebop. The core of Bronx Cheer consists of Steve on guitar and vocals with bass by his brother John Conte (Southside Johnny & The Jukes, David Bowie, Ian Hunter) and the renowned Charley Drayton (Keith Richards, Iggy Pop, The Replacements) on drums.Conte produced the album with Andrew Hollander, who in addition to work with Indie bands like White Rabbits has also composed and/or produced with Pop stalwarts like The Chainsmokers and Carly Rae Jepsen.Raised in a musical family – Steve's mother Rosemary Conte is a noted NY/NJ jazz singer – Steve started spending time in New York City as a kid, his father bringing him to his first Madison Square Garden concert, by none other than Chuck Berry. Some years later, Conte found himself playing an entire show onstage in Berry's band. His own music first gained notice when his band Company Of Wolves signed to Mercury Records, releasing a self-titled album on the label in 1990. Over the years he's also worked with Peter Wolf, Eric Burdon of The Animals, Willy DeVille, Billy Squier, Willie Nile, Maceo Parker, and even been Paul Simon's tour rehearsal vocal stand-in.Conte first met Wicked Cool founder Stevie Van Zandt when the Dolls played Van Zandt's Underground Garage Festival in 2004.We want to hear from you! RockerMike and Rob discuss The Replacements. The Replacements were an American rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1979. Initially a punk rock band, they are one of the main pioneers of alternative rock. The band was composed of the guitarist and vocalist Paul Westerberg, guitarist Bob Stinson, bass guitarist Tommy Stinson and drummer Chris Mars for most of its career. Following several acclaimed albums, including Let It Be and Tim, Bob Stinson was kicked out of the band in 1986, and Slim Dunlap joined as lead guitarist. Steve Foley replaced Mars in 1990. Towards the end of the band's career, Westerberg exerted more control over the creative output. The group disbanded in 1991, with the members eventually pursuing various projects. A reunion was announced on October 3, 2012.The band is referred to by their nickname "The 'Mats" by fans, which originated as a truncation of "The Placemats," a mispronunciation of their name. The Replacements' music was influenced by rock artists such as the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Faces, Big Star, Slade, Badfinger, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Bob Dylan as well as punk rock bands such as the Ramones, the New York Dolls, the Buzzcocks, the Damned, and the Sex Pistols. Unlike many of their underground contemporaries, the Replacements played "heart-on-the-sleeve"rock songs that combined Westerberg's "raw-throated adolescent howl"with self-deprecating lyrics. The Replacements were a notoriously wayward live act, often performing under the influence of alcohol and playing fragments of covers instead of their own material. https://thereplacementsofficial.com/ https://www.latimes.com/books/la-ca-jc-goldberg-replacements-20180601-story.html?_amp=true https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/the-replacements-the-greatest-band-that-never-was-89041/amp/ https://open.spotify.com/artist/4WPY0N74T3KUja57xMQTZ3 https://www.bbc.co.uk/music/sevenages/artists/the-replacements/ Please follow us on Youtube,Facebook,Instagram,Twitter,Patreon and at www.gettinglumpedup.com https://linktr.ee/RobRossi Get your T-shirt at https://www.prowrestlingtees.com/gettinglumpedup And https://www.bonfire.com/store/getting-lumped-up/ https://app.hashtag.expert/?fpr=roberto-rossi80 https://dc2bfnt-peyeewd4slt50d2x1b.hop.clickbank.net https://8bcded2xph1jdsb8mqp8th3y0n.hop.clickbank.net/?cbpage=nb Subscribe to the channel and hit the like button --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rob-rossi/support https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/getting-lumped-up-with-rob-rossi/id1448899708 https://open.spotify.com/show/00ZWLZaYqQlJji1QSoEz7a https://www.patreon.com/Gettinglumpedup #thereplacementsband #thereplacements #thereplacementslive #bands #band #musically #music #musician #musicvideo #musicproducer #musicproduction --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rob-rossi/support

Once again, the wealth of quality new music means that this month’s new release episode is expanding into a two-part series! This week is dominated by artists and labels that can accurately be described as “friends of the show” – artists such as Dave Sheinin, Dan Israel, Old Town Crier, along with our label friends at Big Stir Records, Red On Red Records, and, of course, Rum Bar Records! But there’s also something special for fans of The Replacements! Well, of course there is. This show isn’t named after one of their songs for no reason! Two weeks ago saw the reissue of their very first album, Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash. 100 tracks, 67 of them previously unreleased. Those who purchased the box at the Electric Fetus in Minneapolis, however, also received a bonus flexidisc with four more unreleased versions. Thanks to Ledge listener Jim Portesan, tonight’s episode includes those four rarities, along with a miniset of songs from the concert disc of the box. I would love it if every listener bought at least one record I played on either of these shows. These great artists deserve to be compensated for their hard work, and every purchase surely […]

Scaling UP! Nation, if this is new information to you, hang in there, and if this is old news, I know you're still going to learn something today. China has reduced its export of Phosphonates by 90% now through 2022 and water treaters everywhere need to be aware of what options are available to you so we can continue providing top-notch service to our clients.  I couldn't think of a better person to talk to in this Pinks and Blues episode about Phosphonate replacement options than my trusted friend and Radical Polymers co-founder, Michael Standish. Thank you for coming back on the show, Mike!  For those of you who don't know him, Mike has over 28 years of experience in polymer additive design and development. Before forming Radical Polymers, Mike served in technical and business leadership roles within global, publicly-traded chemical companies and is responsible for the development and patenting of industry-leading polymers for use in the water treatment, oilfield, and detergent industries. Mike has served on the Board of Directors of AWT and holds a BS in Chemistry and Masters in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. One of the things I admire most about Mike is that he has a way of taking extremely technical and complicated topics and explaining them in ways that everyone can understand. Trust me, this is an episode you won't want to miss.   Bottom line: Mike Standish is going to share what he is observing in the marketplace, provide his insights, and offer suggestions so your water treatment company can make the best decisions for today's unprecedented times.  Your roadside friend, as you travel from client to client, -Trace    Timestamps:  Happy Halloween and what is happening with the P4 supply from China [0:30] What are you observing with the raw materials supply chain? With today’s release of the 40th anniversary deluxe edition of the very first Replacements album, Sorry Ma, Forgot To Take Out The Trash, it was pretty obvious that there would be a deep dive into this box set. The great news is that this box does not disappoint. Besides a desperately needed remaster of the orginal album, this 4 CD/1 LP set includes 67 previously unreleased tracks. There’s home demos, basement recordings, studio outtakes, and the band’s earliest professionally recorded show. How could I not make this the main reason of the show? But there’s much more. With this being reissue and box set season, I go through a number of other similar releases. Yet I also have some harsh words for a couple of them. “We plan a quarantine time of a minimum eight weeks and if we use MLV PRRS virus vaccines, we prefer around 12 weeks” Gilt introduction procedures are discussed by Danish swine veterinarian Dr. Kristian Havn in the context of a herd averaging 1,000 sows with an annual replacement rate of 45-50%, meaning a need to bring in 500 replacement gilts per year. A target of introduction to the sow herd at 34 weeks old dictates that gilts must be no older than 22 weeks on arrival, to accommodate a 12-weeks quarantine period. How to expose them to herd pathogens is still an open question, he says, because we will want them to produce an adequate level of antibodies in their colostrum when they eventually enter the farrowing room.

A festival show is on the docket as we take a look back at the first night Pearl Jam performed at Austin City Limits in 2014. ACL is always an eclectic festival weekend, but this year had the band headlining alongside Eminem and Outkast, which on paper doesn't seem to be their scene. But the reunited Replacements would go on before them, which would lead to a nice tribute during the Daughter tag. While this is kind of what you'd expect from your average festival sets, there are moments worth going back to in this such as the extended intro version of Love Boat Captain, a touching dedication during the Come Back performance, and we get a Danny Clinch appearance on Red Mosquito. With apologies to all Texans who's state finally has representation on our podcast for the first time in three years, but also, someone might've called them sensitive.  Visit the Concertpedia: http://liveon4legs.com Donate to the show: http://patreon.com/liveon4legs

We had the pleasure of interviewing Marko DeSantis of Sugarcult over Zoom video! In August 2001, SoCal rockers Sugarcult burst onto the scene with their anthemic debut album Start Static. Combining high-energy punk riffs and irresistible power-pop melodies with a heavy dose of youthful angst, Start Static quickly earned the group a legion of fans, and spawned three hit singles, "Bouncing Off the Walls," "Pretty Girl (The Way)," and "Stuck in America." Now, two decades later, Craft Recordings commemorates this enduring favorite with a deluxe 20th anniversary vinyl and digital reissue. Set for an October 8 street date and available for pre-order, the vinyl edition of Start Static (20th-Anniversary Edition) will feature the original album — newly remastered by the GRAMMY®-winning engineer, Paul Blakemore — plus three special bonus tracks: an early demo of "Say I'm Sorry," a live version of "Bouncing Off the Walls," plus a spirited cover of Elvis Costello & The Attraction's "No Action." The album comes housed in a gatefold jacket, featuring sculpted emboss printing and updated liner notes from the band. Fans can also find a special variant of the LP — pressed on clear vinyl and limited to 500 units — exclusively on Sugarcult's website and at Craft Recordings' online store.  The digital edition, also available October 8, features an additional, previously unreleased live version of the band's hit single, "Stuck in America." and "Bouncing Off the Walls (Live)" Formed in Santa Barbara, CA, in 1998, Sugarcult — whose original lineup consisted of Tim Pagnotta (vocals/guitar), Airin Older (bass/vocals), Marko DeSantis (guitar), and Ben Davis (drums)— made their mark as one of the most dynamic and entertaining pop-punk bands to come out of the 2000s. After independently releasing two demos and two EPs, the quartet caught the ears of Ultimatum Music, who signed Sugarcult and connected them with producer Matt Wallace (Maroon 5, Faith No More, The Replacements) to work on their debut full-length.  Start Static went on to sell more than 300,000 copies, while the band embarked on nearly three years of non-stop touring. In addition to playing the main stage of Warped Tour and appearing at festivals like Glastonbury (UK), Summer Sonic (Japan), and Soundwaves (Australia), the group joined Green Day's American Idiot tour in the U.S. and Japan, as well as Blink 182's European arena tour. They would go on to headline hundreds of shows across North America, Europe, and Japan. Multiple songs off Start Static, meanwhile, could be heard on popular shows like MTV's Laguna Beach and in films like Van Wilder (the stars of which, Ryan Reynolds and Tara Reid, appeared in the music video for "Bouncing Off the Walls.)" In the liner notes, guitarist DeSantis recalls that Start Static  "was our confrontation and/or handshake with the world; our chance to get people to pay attention, earn their respect, and then, hopefully, win their hearts. The album title fit the narrative of the songs—which are mostly vignettes of young adult anxiety over the trials of messy romance and post-adolescent dissatisfaction and uncertainty. [Start Static] was our album title and our mission statement." Following Start Static, Sugarcult went on to release two more acclaimed albums (2004's Palm Trees and Power Lines and 2006's Lights Out), and two DVDs before embarking on an extended hiatus in 2008. Since then, each band member has excelled in a variety of fields within the music industry.  Tim Pagnotta is an award-winning, multi-platinum-selling songwriter and producer who has collaborated with the likes of Weezer, Blink 182, Neon Trees, Walk the Moon, and Elle King. Airin Older went on to become a founding member of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and joined British alt-rock group thenewno2, featuring Dhani Harrison. Marko DeSantis is now a professor of music business, artist development and artist coaching at Los Angeles College of Music, Musicians Institute College of Music and Citrus College. He has also enjoyed several DJ residencies in the U.S. and Japan and has been featured as a guest speaker and panelist at SXSW, UCLA, and Sonos LEAD, among others. Ben Davis, meanwhile, enjoys a successful career writing and producing music for film, TV and commercials. We want to hear from you!
