Lance Lynn just completed his 10th season in the major leagues, where he put together one of the best seasons in his career and finished third in the Cy Young voting. He won a World Series in 2011 as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals, where he was teammates with Matt Holliday, and has been named an All-Star twice — in 2012 and 2021. He's finished in the top six in the Cy Young Award voting the last three seasons. As a child, Lynn and his Brownsburg, Indiana All-Star team played in the Little League World Series. He joins "Table Forty" this week with Matt and Leslee Holliday to talk about his upbringing in Indiana, how he's grown the past several years both in his faith and as a man, how he leads others, and what it's like being a parent of three girls. "Table Forty" is part of the Sports Spectrum Podcast Network. -- If you enjoyed this conversation, we know you'll enjoy these as well: — Baltimore Orioles Pitcher John Means & Wife Caroline — Blake Hawksworth – Former MLB Pitcher — Skip and Lindsey Schumaker – MLB Couple

Throughout the 2021 season, the White Sox appeared to be living up to the hype: an über-talented fun-loving juggernaut of a roster that was bludgeoning its way through the American League. It felt like they were taking the next step in their development as a genuine World Series contender as the calendar turned to October. Four games later, they gone. Friend of the pod Fritz Nothnagel is back to figure out what just happened and tell me how far the Sox really are from competing with a potential dynasty* like the Astros. *You know what this asterisk is for. We break down how Lance Lynn & the pitching staff fell apart against Houston's relentless lineup, the emergence of important role players like Leury García, and Tony La Russa's doddering bullpen management. Ultimately, though, Fritz still feels good about this season and where his team is headed in the future--as well he should! Plus: an update on my gay kickball adventures! Jackson threw for a career-high 442 yards and four touchdowns, including a pair of short TD passes to Mark Andrews in the fourth quarter as the Ravens rallied from a 25-9 deficit. Andrews also caught the two 2-point conversions during that furious comeback. The Ravens had to withstand a 47-yard field goal attempt by Rodrigo Blankenship on the final play of regulation, but the Indianapolis kicker missed, sending the teams to overtime. NFL – Gruden out as Raiders coach Jon Gruden is out as coach of the Las Vegas Raiders after emails he sent before being hired in 2018 contained racist, homophobic and misogynistic comments. Gruden released a statement Monday night that he is stepping down after The New York Times reported that Gruden frequently used misogynistic and homophobic language directed at Commissioner Roger Goodell and others in the NFL. It was a rapid downfall for Gruden, who is in the fourth year of a 10-year, $100 million contract he signed with the Raiders in 2018. It started on Friday when the Wall Street Journal reported that Gruden used a racist term to describe NFL union chief DeMaurice Smith in a 2011 email to former Washington executive Bruce Allen. Today's word of the day is ‘Mark Harmon' as in stealing home as in Randy Arozarena became the first player in MLB history to hit a home run and steal home in the same game. How about Rays? Do you know any of those pitchers? Do you know any of those batters? All they do is win games. (13:20) Did you watch the other game? The Houston Astros are a great team. The Chicago White Sox couldn't get to Lance McCullers, and Lance Lynn got beat up early. Not a great combo for the White Sox. The one thing you should look out for is that Dusty Baker let McCullers throw 104 pitches…. That's not good. (19:30) So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me about Jack Eichel and what happens when a player's medical staff and a team's medical staff have different opinions on injury treatment. (27:30) NPPOD. (33:30) Review: Billions Season 5. (36:20) 18 former NBA players were charged with healthcare fraud. This is a big story. This happens too often and it's hurting your pockets. Lance McCullers has been waiting for this moment for 3 years and he came out and dominated the White Sox lineup for almost seven innings and the Astros offense scored. I'm still perplexed why the White Sox thought it was a good idea to start Lance Lynn, who has struggled vs. the Astros in recent history. The Astros made some interesting roster decisions and Carlos Correa wants his money, the fans want Jim Crane to give him his money, but what does Crane have to say about the chances of Correa returning?
