After phone service resumed, callers discussed Boomer's accurate Tyrese Haliburton injury prediction and Gio's avoidance of the Mets' struggles. Fanatics-Fest amateur winner Matt called in. Peter Schwartz provided an update, addressing his son's "portal" status and a caller's "bag of problems" comment. He covered the Thunder's NBA Championship win, mixed reactions to Kristin Chenoweth's anthem, and the Yankees' victory over the Orioles with Jazz Chisholm's help. The segment ended with a comparison of Peter to Mr. Met and a discussion of the old Yankees mascot, "Dandy," plus a question about the Mets' slump-busting.
The Mets, after a rough night from David Peterson and series losses to the Rays, Braves, and Phillies, are now in second place. Francisco Alvarez was sent to Syracuse. Peter Schwartz provided an update, starting with the Thunder's NBA Championship win over Indiana. The Mets lost their series to the Phillies, while the Yankees won theirs against the Orioles. The segment concluded with questions about TMZ's coverage of Aaron Rodgers' wife and Travis Hunter's marriage without a prenuptial agreement.
Boomer's predictions came true: Francisco Alvarez was sent down, and Tyrese Haliburton's calf injury became a season-ending Achilles injury. Kevin Durant was traded to the Rockets, finding out live at FanaticsFest. Peter Schwartz, filling in for Jerry, provided his first update, covering the Thunder's NBA Championship, Haliburton's injury, and KD's trade reaction. The Mets lost to the Phillies, falling out of first place, while the Yankees beat the Orioles thanks to Jazz Chisholm. Tom Brady won the Fanatics Games, distributing cash to fans. The hour ended with Keegan Bradley's Travelers Championship win.
Hour 1 The Mets were swept in Atlanta and head to Philadelphia, with concerns about their hitting and the need for a "slump buster." Meanwhile, the Yankees snapped their losing streak with back-to-back homers, the Pacers beat OKC to force a Game 7 in the NBA Finals, and it's expected that Mike Brown will soon be named the Knicks' new coach after the Finals. The concept of "slump busting" even extended to a caller's personal anecdote. Hour 2 The NBA Finals and Pacers' performance led to a discussion about the Knicks being the third-best team despite perceptions of a poor season, with Mike Brown expected to be their new head coach. C-Lo's update covered the Mets' losses in Atlanta, the Yankees' win over the Angels before hosting the Orioles, an ump's bad call costing Yamamoto an immaculate inning, and a heated Dodgers/Padres game with multiple hit batsmen. The Pacers forced a Game 7 in the NBA Finals, and the segment concluded with a discussion of athletes watching 'Love Island,' Gio learning the meaning of 'en Wei,' and a tribute to a friend of Boomer's who passed away. Hour 3 The Mets are on a six-game losing streak, sparking discussions about a "slump buster" and their offensive struggles, compounded by a sudden shortage of pitchers. The Yankees ended their own losing streak despite Anthony Volpe's fielding issues. Both New York teams have displayed fundamental errors, prompting debate about managerial responsibility. In other news, the Pacers forced a Game 7 in the NBA Finals, Chris Russo is loving the 50th anniversary of Jaws, and callers discussed granola bars and WFAN host tattoos. Hour 4 The broadcast touched on local summer traffic and quirky home gadgets like "the Clapper." Boomer noted an old fish smell at WFAN as C-Lo prepared an update, which included audio of Sal's show baseball card with BT, and a college radio clip featuring John Minko and Andy "the Walrus." Shedeur Sanders addressed his recent speeding tickets. The "Moment of the Day" involved explaining "slump busters" to Boomer. The segment concluded with a discussion of WFAN shows and podcasts appearing at FanaticsFest this weekend, and the topic of fake sneezing in front of dogs.

The Detroit Tigers had a 3-3 record this past week, going 2-1 against the Baltimore Orioles and 1-2 against the Cincinnati Reds. But the Tigers still have a 46-27 record — best in the American League Central by nine games, best in the AL by 2.5 games and best in MLB by 0.5 games. Tigers ace Tarik Skubal appeared on the Barstool podcast, "Pardon My Take," and said he would sign for 10 years, $425 million when he becomes a free agent after the 2026 season. Is he worth that contract? Also: We explain why Skubal's status with the Tigers is ultimately up to owner Christopher Ilitch. As for the team, the Tigers have a 17-12 record in the last 30 days, since May 16. The offense ranks 20th in MLB a 96 wRC+, the starting rotation ranks first with a 2.53 ERA and the bullpen ranks 25th with a 4.68 ERA. What problems are just part of the ebbs and flows of the season, and what needs to be addressed before it's too late? The trade deadline is still more than a month away, scheduled for 6 p.m. July 31, but it's never too early to look at options for the Tigers, needing a high-leverage reliever and a position player for the left side of the infield. Other topics include All-Star Game voting and injury updates about Reese Olson and Matt Vierling.Follow Evan on X/Twitter here. Read Evan's most recent work here
Baltimore Orioles vs. Tampa Bay Rays MLB Pick Prediction by Tony T. Orioles at Rays 7:35PM ET— Zach Eflin is starting for Baltimore. Eflin in nine starts on the year, carries an ERA of 4.08 with WHIP of 1.09. The righty has 16.9% Ks with 3.3% walks. Ground balls dealt at 39.8% with 1.70 home runs per nine innings. Ryan Pepiot gets the start for Tampa Bay.
Coby Mayo has four hits in his last six games played and he even added an RBI to help the O's blowout the Angels 11-2 yesterday. Is he finally heating up or do you need to see more?
The Orioles managed to push 11 runs across in yesterday's win without Jackson Holliday, Colton Cowser or Ryan O'Hearn in the lineup. How powerful can they be at full strength for the rest of the season?
Colton Cowser has missed a handful of games after flying full speed into the center field wall last week. Is he in line to return for this Rays series? Jacob Calvin Meyer offered his thoughts during a visit with Bob and Vinny.
The Orioles have a lot more work to do before they erase all the losing they did earlier this season. In the meantime Bob Nightengale says the word around the league is, "don't give up on the Orioles." He joined Vinny and Haynie to talks about the chances of a Baltimore turnaround before the trade deadline.
Nolan McGraw highlights this recent stretch of success for the Orioles bullpen and why it's playing a big role in the winning along with quality starts and a healthy lineup.
The Orioles finished off a three game sweep by beating up on the Angels 11-2 yesterday afternoon. Jordan Westburg went yard to cap off the offensive outburst and he now has three homers since returning from the IL. Bob and Nolan react to the win and Westburg's impact.
The Orioles used Scott Blewett as an opener yesterday and even tried to extend him through three innings before turning to Cade Povich. Unfortunately he wasn't able to deliver a clean outing and Povich had to come in with a runner already in scoring position. Nolan McGraw says using an opener that way was counterproductive.
Austin Layton joined Cory Phillips to break down the Cincinnati Reds defeating the Detroit Tigers 11-1 at Comerica Park. Tyler Stephenson hit a grand slam in a six-run fifth inning, while Elly De La Cruz, Spencer Steer, and Matt McLain also homered. Brady Singer pitched six strong innings, allowing one run on four hits to earn the win, improving to 7-4. The Reds, now 36-35, snapped a two-game skid, while the Tigers, still leading the AL at 46-25, struggled with Jack Flaherty giving up seven runs in 4 2/3 innings. De La Cruz also made a standout defensive play, throwing out a runner at the plate. Ed, Rob, and Jeremy took some time from Friday's BBMS to discuss the O's decision to use Keegan Akin as an opener for the finale against the Tigers. It ended up working, but is Akin's start an example of analytics influencing the game too much?
Ed, Rob, and Jeremy took some time from Friday's BBMS to discuss the impact of Mike Elias' job security on the Orioles' decisions at the trade deadline. Some think Elias should sell because it will help him keep his job but is that a good idea for the future of the franchise?
