What’s your creative outlet? Do you need to get unstuck? There is a very cheap and easy way to unleash your creativity, and you can start today. Today's podcast will remind you that you are a creative person, made in the image of a Creator. You may have forgotten what you enjoy creating, or (more likely), you've spent a long time being "too busy" to create. That excuse isn't good enough anymore. When should you start creating? The time is now. Move physically to jump-start your creativity, and you can enjoy a calmer mind and body, which helps you get back in touch with your creative side. Do the mind and body work together? Are goals and hope truly necessary for us all? Can we make choices in ANY situation that are honorable and right? In this book study, we are looking at several themes from "Man's Search for Meaning," by Dr. Vikor Frankl. You can listen to them in any order! Episode 109 - Week One - Theme: Humanity Episode 110 - Week Two - Theme: Goals Episode 111 - Week Three - Theme: Decisions Dr. Viktor Fankl was a psychiatrist and also a survivor of Auschwitz and other concentration camps. Through his work, he not only descried the conditions of the camps, but he explored the mental, emotional, and spiritual lives of the prisoners in a way that only a survivor could. He also created his own practice of psychiatry based on what he experienced and observed. We all make decisions large and small - but we may not realize their power. In this episode, I explore the theme of "Decisions" and the great power and responsibility that Dr. Frankl suggested we all have, no matter the circumstances. * Are you a powerful reader? We are studying the book, "Man's Search for Meaning," by Dr. Viktor Frankl. If you're new to the book study, welcome! You can jump in at any time, whether or not you've read the book yet! You don't even have to watch (or listen) to these episodes in order. Dr. Frankl's book should be required reading in high schools and colleges. Even though it was written in 1946 (and translated into English in 1959), it's amazingly relevant for today's world. This book contains timeless wisdom. This week, we are looking at the theme of Goals. To keep hope alive, and to continue to stand strong in the midst of unimaginable difficulty, Dr. Frankl never let go of his goals. He saw the importance of believing in the future, both in the concentration camps and again later in his work as a psychiatrist. He was realistic about his current situation, but he never gave up on his goals. Are you a powerful reader? Do you want to be a better reader? Midlife Best Book Club - We are wrapping up our study of "How to Win Friends and Influence People," by Dale Carnegie. - If you need to brush up on your leadership skills (and I think we all do), Carnegie has plenty of suggestions and tips. - Throughout this book study, we've been studying a diversified tool kit for working with people. Each of these tools may not work in every situation, but it's good to have them when you need them. - Whether or not you have employees, you do have influence, and you will encounter situations that require you to be a leader. - The book club has been a great experience for me, and I hope you've enjoyed it, too! I'm not starting another book study just yet, but you can still check out the Midlife Best podcast for new content. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/midlifebest/message
