a verse by verse exposition of Isaiah 52 (verses 12-13)
Isaiah 52, part 10 (verse 11) 11 Depart! Depart! Go out from there, Touch no unclean thing; Go out from the midst of her, Be clean, You who bear the vessels of the Lord. Highlights from this podcast include discussions of: --The possible significance of the “garments” the people laid down before Christ during his triumphal entry into Jerusalem --The meekness of Christ as that which accomplished the victory of the cross and the forgiveness of our sins, and what that teaches us about the nature of the His kingdom, and our role in it --The significance of “bearing the vessels of the Lord” and the identity of God’s people as His temple, and the “heavenly things” purified by Christ’s sacrifice --The acceptable sacrifice of the Gentiles through the sanctification of the Holy Spirit --The contemporary rite in many of our churches of consecrating elements of the Eucharist as essentially a throw-back to the Old Covenant, and a return to the physical types and shadows of the Old Covenant—a rite which actually has no basis in the New Covenant --The reality that in the New Covenant, Christ is present with us always, in contrast to the teaching that “the real presence of Christ” is only realized at the “communion table” --“Sacramental theology” as essentially the “remembrance of sins” --Are we to pray “the Lord’s Prayer” today? --How do we view “communion” (to partake or not to partake) today?
Isaiah 52, part 9 (verse 11) Highlights from this podcast include discussions of: --Separating from what is “unclean,” as seen in light of Paul’s quotation of this context in his discussion of the “unequal yoke” in 2 Corinthians 6 (for more on this comparison, see this article: Be Not Unequally Yoked Together) --Trusting in works righteousness (uncleanness) vs. trusting in Christ, and the Judaizing movement in the first century --The nature of our communion and fellowship with one another in Christ --The significance of Christ’s suffering “outside the camp” --The relationship between faith and revelation --The cross as the fulfillment of the Kingdom of God --The ritual of “Holy Communion” or the Eucharist, and the false belief in some Christian traditions that through the practice of these things we receive more of God’s grace --The true nature of Christ’s Kingdom in contrast to the physical Kingdom even some Christians today are looking for (e.g. the dwelling together of the “wolf and the lamb”) and how we apply the reality of our reconciliation to one another through Christ in our everyday lives and relationships, or how to live as reconciled people --What it means to walk in the light, vs. walking in darkness --The identity of “the vessels of the Lord” --The identity of Jerusalem as “Babylon” in Revelation, confirmed by both New Testament contexts and the Old Testament prophets; and also the importance of the time statements in refuting various futurist eschatologies
A verse by verse exposition of Isaiah 52 (verses 8-10) Highlights from this podcast include discussions of: --Christ as “The Arm of the Lord” or the “Right Hand of God” and the connection of these terms with Christ’s high priestly office and the victory of the cross --Christ as our Redeemer and Righteousness --The Salvation and Glory of God as synonymous in Scripture --Christ as the only way to the Father, revealed in the Old Testament (or the uniqueness and exclusivity of the Gospel) --The relevance and authority of the Scripture in our lives today, as believers in fulfilled eschatology --The nature of divine revelation (in contrast to rationalism) --The relationship between God’s faithfulness to Israel and the Light (or Salvation) to the Gentiles --The importance of spending time in the Scriptures as they reveal God as our source of joy and encouragement --The day of the cross as the time-frame of fulfillment of Isaiah’s eschatological prophecies

The Bible Answer Team (B.A.T.) is a live call-in program featuring hosts Ward Fenley and Tami Jelinek. It is a forum provided for those who are seeking a biblical apologetic from a preterist and grace-based worldview. B.A.T. welcomes questions from all sides, and seeks to give a solid exegetical, doctrinal, and philosophical defense for a post-first century world. In this episode: Doesn't the meaning of the word "appear" in Hebrews 9, 1 John 3 and 1 Peter 5 require that Christ's "appearing" will be a physically observable event? If God "desires" all men to be saved according to 1 Timothy 2:4, then aren't all men saved? Does Romans 2:14 teach that Gentiles have the law of God written on their hearts by nature? Who are those "without excuse" according to Romans 1?
