Today's Promise: Galatians 3:29 You have an incredible spiritual inheritance in Christ. So many believers struggle under the weight of rules, traditions, and performance-based religion, wondering if faith in Jesus is really enough. In this episode, we explore the Apostle Paul's powerful reminder that salvation and the promises of God come through faith in Christ alone. You will learn how every believer has been adopted into the family of God and made an heir to the promises given to Abraham. Just as a prince receives his inheritance by birth, Christians receive their spiritual inheritance through the new birth in Christ. Nothing can be added to the finished work of Jesus. Learn how you can embrace your identity as a child of God, rest in His grace, and boldly confess the promises that belong to you through faith in Jesus Christ.
This week Pastor Yates continues our journey through Paul's Letter to the Galatians. We are reminded that we are joint heirs because of Christ; no longer slaves to the law but redeemed in Christ. This powerful message from Galatians chapter 4 invites us to embrace the radical freedom that comes through Christ alone. We're reminded that we are no longer slaves to the law, religious performance, or the weight of trying to earn God's favor through our own efforts. The message unpacks Paul's passionate correction to the Galatian churches, who were being tempted to add requirements to the gospel—to believe that Jesus plus something else was necessary for salvation. Through the allegory of Abraham's two sons, Isaac and Ishmael, we see a profound truth: one was born of human effort and the flesh, while the other came through God's promise. We are children of promise, not of slavery. This teaching challenges us to examine whether we've truly experienced the freedom Christ offers or if we're still living under the burden of rules, expectations, and fear. The distinction between knowing about God cognitively and knowing Him experientially becomes crucial—it's one thing to recognize His face, quite another to have walked through life with Him. When we truly experience God's love and grace, no distorted gospel can shake us. We're called to represent Christ authentically in our workplaces, homes, and communities, not through perfect performance but through genuine transformation that starts in our hearts and works its way into our actions.
April 23 2026 Friday Who Jesus Made You To Be / Week 23 Heirs Of God #findoutwhoyouare My Vision My vision is to teach the world Who They Are In Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior! To Teach them what the Bible says about them and who they have been made to be in the promises of God's Word. This changed my life years ago and completely transformed me from a person full of doubt, fear and unbelief to a strong confident Christian that knows I can do anything through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. And I'm determined to teach the world what God has taught and commissioned me to teach and that is His Word. That commission takes me to jails and detention centers weekly along with other open doors at many churches and ministries that are wanting to teach these important truths to the world. My podcast goes out 6 days a week to help the people I am ministering to grow in the truths that God has taught me for many years now. This podcast is free to all that want to listen and grow strong in who God has made them to be in Christ Jesus their Lord and Savior. My Prayers For The World Ephesians 1:15-23 NLT 'Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God's people everywhere, I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God's power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God's right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.' Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT 'When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Youar roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.' Matthew 11:28 Find Rest In Jesus Christ Your Lord and Savior… Mark 10:29-30 100 Fold Return… Psalm 37:4 God will give you the desires of your heart… The Galations, having launched their Christian experience by faith, seem content to leave their voyage of faith and chart a new course based on works—a course Paul finds disturbing. His letter to the Galations is a vigorous attack against the gospel of works and a defense of the gospel of faith. Paul begins by setting forth his credentials as an apostle with a message from God: blessing comes from God on the basis of faith, not law. The law declares men guilty and imprisons them; faith sets men free to enjoy liberty in Christ. But liberty is not license. Freedom in Christ means freedom to produce the fruits of righteousness through a Spirit-led lifesty Galatians 4:7 Romans 10:9-10 Salvation… 1 John 1:9 Confess your sins God Will Cleanse You… Romans 13:8 Live in God's Love… Romans 8:16-17 Heirs of God and Joint Heirs with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior… Revelation 1:6 We are kings and priest in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior… Romans 10:13 Call On The Name Of Jesus And Make Him Lord today… The Biblical Definition Of Grace Is God's Unmerited Favor… Matthew 18:19-20 I will agree with you about your prayer request… Acts 10:34 God is not a respecter of persons. Romans 8:17 — There is a glorious inheritance which awaits the children of God. As heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, the magnanimity of what is theirs in Christ far exceeds their imaginations. But how can they be sure of this inheritance? Christians are used to promises broken by sinful people and hopes dashed by circumstances beyond their control. Why then is the hope of their future inheritance secure? Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones has an answer to these most important questions. In his sermon on Romans 8:17 titled “Heirs of God,” he follows the apostle Paul in grounding the hope of inheritance in the immutable, or unchanging, plan of God. It is because of God's power that inheritance is secure. The Christian can have the utmost confidence and assurance that God will work in such a way as to bring His promises to pass. They need not worry about trials or circumstances thwarting God's purposes. What is more, they do not even fear their own ability to forfeit their future hope. Dr. Lloyd-Jones labors to encourage the Christian in the absolute security of their inheritance because their heavenly Father cares for them. Listen as he calls to consider the One promising the indescribable glory that awaits. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/603/29

An episode from Queanbeyan Bible Baptist Church (QBBC), a conservative, independent body of King James Bible believers located near Canberra, NSW Australia. What QBBC believes about the Holy Bible: That both verbal and plenary inspiration applies to the Scriptures known as the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament Canon. That is, that God literally breathed His words and that every part of the Scriptures is the Word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16. We believe that God preserved His words as he promised to do. These words are preserved in the original languages of Hebrew and Greek exactly the way He intended them to be without need of addition or subtraction to any part of them. We also believe that the doctrine of inspiration is of no value without the doctrine of preservation. We believe that the doctrine of inspiration is of no value without the doctrine of preservation. Therefore, the Authorized King James Version of 1611, is the perfect, preserved, inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God for English speaking people. Simply, the Authorized King James Version is the Scriptures in English. It should be read, memorized, obeyed, and trusted as the very words of God as He intended them to be. Imagine living your entire life in abject poverty only to discover at the end of it all that you were the heir of a billion-dollar fortune all along. Many Christians experience the same thing. We are heirs to the inheritance that comes with being God's kids, but we will never be the beneficiary until we understand our birthright. We might not have billions waiting on us in a bank account, but we have something far greater, the Promise of Heaven.
When Abigail’s parents died tragically in a car accident, she inherited a large real estate portfolio. She also learned that her parents had arranged to place the portfolio in a trust. For the time being, she could access only enough money for her college tuition. The rest would come when she was older. Abigail was frustrated, but she later realized her parents’ wisdom in planning a measured delivery of the inheritance. In Galatians 4, Paul uses a similar example to illustrate Israel’s situation as promised heirs of God’s covenant with Abraham. God had made a covenant with Abraham to bless him, and circumcision was a sign of that promise (see Genesis 17:1-14). However, the sign wasn’t the promise. Abraham’s descendants would await a future descendant who would fulfill it. Isaac was born and pointed to the future birth of a Son who would redeem God’s people (vv. 4-5). Israel, like Abigail, had to wait until the “time set by his father” (v. 2). Only then could Israel take full possession of the inheritance. What they wanted immediately would arrive in due time with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. All who put their faith in Jesus were no longer slaves to sin, “but God’s child” (v. 7). A new covenant has been established. We have access to God! We can call him “Abba, Father” (v. 6).

How much religion among many members of churches consists of nothing but church rituals! They belong to their church. They are baptized, married, buried in at the church, and preached to on Sundays by her ministers, but the great doctrines of truth have no place in their hearts and only a little influence on their lives. Is the religion of these people real Christianity? No, it is Churchianity – and nothing more! If your religion is real and has been given by the Holy Spirit, it must be in your heart. It must sway the affections. It must lead the will. It must direct the tastes. It must influence the choices and decisions. It must fill the deepest, lowest, inmost seat in your soul. Is this your Christianity? Real Christianity will cause a person to glory in Christ as the Redeemer, the Deliverer, the Priest, and the Friend – without whom he would have no hope at all. It will produce confidence in Him, love toward Him, delight in Him, and comfort in Him as the Mediator, the Food, the Light, the Life, and the Peace of the soul. This Christianity will produce in the person who has it repentance, faith, hope, love, humility, spirituality, kindness, self-denial, unselfishness, forgiveness, temperance, truthfulness, brotherly kindness, patience, and forbearance. Is this your religion? About the Author John Charles Ryle (1816-1900) graduated from Eton and Oxford and then pursued a career in politics, but due to lack of funds, he entered the clergy of the Church of England. He was a contemporary of Spurgeon, Moody, Mueller, and Taylor and read the great theologians like Wesley, Bunyan, Knox, Calvin, and Luther. These all influenced Ryle's understanding and theology. Ryle began his writing career with a tract following the Great Yarmouth suspension bridge tragedy, where more than a hundred people drowned. He gained a reputation for straightforward preaching and evangelism. He travelled, preached, and wrote more than 300 pamphlets, tracts, and books, including Expository Thoughts on the Gospels, Principles for Churchmen, and Christian Leaders of the Eighteenth Century. Ryle used the royalties from his writing to pay his father's debts, but he also felt indebted to that ruin for changing the direction of his life. He was recommended by Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli to be Bishop of Liverpool where he ended his career in 1900.

Imagine you're an heir to billions of dollars. What comes to mind? "[A]nd if children, then heirs - heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him." Romans 8:17 ESV I came to this passage thinking about being an heir with Jesus. It was really a cool devotional time as I thought about this. He owns everything, and I'm an heir to that fortune. I spend too much time obsessing about money. For others it may be your health, or your comfort, or a hobby or another person. We can think about things to excess. My obsession is rooted in this fear. The most common command in scripture is "Fear not!" When I can focus on being a fellow heir with Jesus, the tension surrounding my fear dissipates. I'm free to get back to work. Jesus has a job for me. Whatever I'm whining about has already been factored in. That includes my own failures and my own incompetence. God chose you and me. He knows us better than we know ourselves. And he has a job for us. In and on the other side of that job is great blessing, peace, ease and joy. So when I start whining to God, I often like to think that he says, "Mike, what are you whining about? Just get back to work and I'll take care of everything else." Think for a moment what it means to inherit your situation for all eternity from the Almighty God and Creator of the universe. What's God saying to you today? How does he want you to show up and serve others simply because you trust him today? What's stopping you? Follower of One is an online community designed to help us mobilize and launch one another in full-time marketplace ministry. We call that living on-mission or on-purpose with Jesus. Have you ever been a witness in a trial? The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. Romans 8:16 ESV I've never had to be a witness in a trial. I have been asked to talk about things I've experienced before. I often share about what I've been through so I can help others avoid the misery of many of my mistakes. The image of this verse is about how the Spirit shows up and speaks for us. He tells others we're his. And he tells us that we're his possession, too. He stands up for us. And he's not shy. I did a podcast (Episode 62 How the Holy Spirit Testifies for Us) about this passage and I talked about how the Holy Spirit even tells others about our faith if we're living in obedience to him. If you're not being used by God in the lives of others, you might check out that episode. As we obey God and do what the Holy Spirit prompts us to do, he uses us in the lives of others. And he points others toward God because of our obedience. He's confirming for others, both those who follow Jesus and those who do not, that we are his children and his heirs. Today, you're free to live serving others simply because you trust Jesus. Whatever your circumstances are, ask God to give you an idea of something you can do and he will put you to work. And the Holy Spirit will tell others that you're a child of God. Why not try it out. If you get a list of several things you can't really do, that's not God. He's not reminding you of a bunch of things to make you feel guilty. He will quietly tell you about something you can do. Do it. Thanks for being a marketplace minister. Consider joining our online community at https://community.followerofone.org, too!
Are you adopted? How does that illustrate what God has done for us? For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by who we cry "Abba! Father!" Romans 8:15 Notice the contrasts again. Fear and death and slavery are all associated with the flesh in these passages. But we don't need to be subject to those things anymore. We have been adopted. We don't often get to choose our family. But imagine the joy of being chosen. After being alone, isolated, and unwanted, all the sudden someone wants you. They appreciate you. They want to help launch you and see you shine. We're all adopted by God if we follow him. We get to call him Dad. I always wanted a boss that would be OK if I screwed up trying to do the right thing. I could be wrong, but I bet your best friends are like you. We like people who like us. God not only loves you, he likes you. He chose you. And he has a job for you. You won't get fired from it. You may get reassigned, but you won't get taken out of the game. God can use you any time or place. Why not ask him to give you an assignment today? He has a job for you, but it's not as painful as you might think. In fact, when we do what he wants we experience his joy. Why not be a blessing to someone today and watch God bless you both? What we do because we follow Jesus matters. You've been adopted. Go for it. Also, if these podcasts or our online community are a blessing to you, please consider making a gift to Follower of One. Do. you expect an inheritance from God? "For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. Romans 8:14 ESV Back in the time the Bible was written, sons inherited things. Paul uses the term "sons" here to denote that we will be expecting an inheritance. We are heirs of God. We're his children. He's going to give us his glory and his riches. Once we trust God, and get in the position as a Follower of One, we are children. It's done. Are we led by the Spirit? We decide that once and he comes to live with us. He leads us and we "are" children. So how does that show up in the world today? Our eternal wealth is more than we can imagine. We have an unlimited supply now. We get the opportunity to live on-mission with Jesus. His purpose was to save mankind. Our purpose is to be led by the Spirit and take part in this grand strategy. We can be a blessing. We can do things to make the world and life better for everyone we meet. Maybe it's a prayer. Maybe it's a gift. Maybe it means we will do more so they can do less. Maybe we need to fix something. Imagine getting up every day and asking the Spirit what he would like you to do today. That's our first daily habit. We want to get in the habit of living on-mission with Jesus and being available to do what he calls us to do with and for others. What's stopping you? Do you think about all the things you can't do? Ask God to show you what you can do. He made us an heir. You're part of God's strategy. Let's get in the game. It may be that you would like to see how this is done? Check out our Marketplace Mission Trips. These are either 2-week online or 6-week offline exercises where we practice living like a child of God. Check them out at www.marketplacemissiontrip.com.
How do you live? What guides your life? For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. Romans 8:13 ESV Mostly in movies we see life or death situations. You know the bad guy has to die. Paul reminds us that we battle death all the time. If we live according to our flesh, we will die. Notice how the opposite of living according to our flesh is that we put to death the deeds of the body. Our physical nature is contrary to God. We can't live in a state of non-aggression. Either the flesh is killing us or we are killing our flesh. Often, I speak with people who say things are good. They're doing pretty good. But this verse seems to suggest that we're either battling our flesh or living according to it. What does this have to do with being an heir of God? I've chosen to do a series on these 6 verses in Romans 8 because they talk about us being heirs of God and co-heirs with Jesus. Because we're heirs, we don't have to fight for ourselves. We're free to fight for others. When we kill our own flesh, and start living for God, we will be a blessing to others. God puts us to work as part of his plan to save the world. You get to take part in his glorious strategy to save your friends and family. We do that by helping others move one notch closer to Jesus. Today, you can live on-mission with Jesus. Punch in and do what he says. Ask him for direction. He will bring people across your path and he will give you opportunities. Life according to the Spirit is real life. Life according to the flesh is death. Why not join us? We're an online community designed to help every believer live according to the Spirit every day of the week, even when we're at work or in school. What does it mean to be in debt? "So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh." Romans 8:12 Paul is reminding believers that we're in debt, but not to our flesh. The verses that follow show that we're in debt to God, or the Spirit. We don't owe our flesh anything. It hasn't done anything for us. We're told in 1 Corinthians 9:27 that we discipline our flesh. We need to tame it, not the other way around. Our debt is to the Spirit. We work for God. We're his servants. I keep coming back to an idea that we work for God. The Spirit is the one giving us direction. He's our manager. We're obligated to do what he says. For the next few episodes, I want to talk about how we're heirs with Jesus. We will inherit the universe. It begins by remembering that we're debtors, but to God, not to the flesh. Let's live like we know to whom we belong. Because we have been saved, we're free to love others and do what God wants. If you find yourself thinking about what you can't do, tell your brain to change it's tune. Let's consider what we can do and do it. We're free, not to do whatever our flesh wants, but to do whatever God has for us. How will you live in light of the idea that you're not in debt to the flesh?
