The Philippics, a Tragic Alliance, and a Heroic End. Guest Author: Josiah Osgood. In the chaotic aftermath of Caesar's death, Cicero delivered the Philippics to trash Mark Antony's reputation. In an attempt to destroy Antony, Cicero formed an alliance with Caesar's young heir, Octavian. He believed he could use the boy to further his own political goals, but this strategy backfired. Octavian eventually joined forces with Antony and Lepidus, and together they ordered Cicero's execution as an act of vengeance for Caesar. Legend says that Cicero faced his death heroically, extending his neck to the soldiers sent to kill him. This account was likely perpetuated by his loyal secretary, Tiro, who published Cicero's works after his death. Two thousand years later, Cicero's writings remain a staple for students of Latin and rhetoric. His speeches are still valued for their entertainment value and their insightful political put-downs. His life serves as a testament to the high stakes and theatrical nature of Roman political life, illustrating the end of a republic and the birth of an empire. 8SULLA
Tonight we will be speaking Norman Sollie. Norman is the author of Before Patty Volume I: Patrick-The Sasquatch/Human Hybrid & Our Genetic Inheritance. He shared with me a Sasquatch/Human Hybrid case he spent years investigating. He shared that he starting writing because of his own experiences. Here is the description: In 1891, a young woman was taken from a fishing camp in Eastern Washington by a Skanicum, as her people knew the Sasquatch. She eventually escaped from her ordeal, but she returned to her family with a terrible secret. Before Patty, Volume 1, is the story of the life of that woman, and of her hybrid son, Patrick, uncovered after months of research into more than 160 forgotten documents dating from as early as the 1890s and spanning 100 years. Tragic, startling, and surprising, this is the story of what many thought impossible, forever altering our idea of what it is to be human and leading us to consider that Sasquatch may be a fierce and free human tribe. This is also a story of the hardships Native Americans, First Nations, and Alaska Natives have endured since Europeans first landed on the shores, devastating hundreds of once thriving cultures. As Colville Indian Agent, George H. Newman, wrote in 1897, "I am astonished at the progress they have made, while at the same time I wonder how they have managed to live." Check out his book, Before Patty Volume I: Patrick-The Sasquatch/Human Hybrid

Katie Simpson was a talented showjumper whose short adult life centred around the equine industry she'd grown up in. Since then, Ms Simpson's story has been covered at length in documentaries, podcasts, a Police Ombudsman's report, an independent case review, and a book by Nicola Tallant. The market tried to bounce… and failed. SPY briefly pushed higher, then rolled over hard, tagged the 50-day moving average, and left behind a nasty lower-low candle. Now the warning signs that were hiding under the surface are starting to show up where everyone can see them.In this breakdown, we dig into why OVTLYR sell signals started flashing before the market weakness became obvious. Buy signals are fading, sell signals are rising, and only 29% of the market still has buy signals. Tech is getting hit hard, volatility is expanding, and the big leaders that used to carry the market are now leading it lower.Apple, Sonos, Sony, gold, silver, copper, and major tech areas like communication equipment, solar, and consumer electronics are all showing pressure. And with rates rising, the dollar pushing toward a key pivot, and the 2/10 spread still moving in the wrong direction, this market is getting a lot less forgiving. But money always rotates somewhere. Right now, the stronger areas are real estate, healthcare, industrials, utilities, and consumer defensive. Inside staples, packaged foods are starting to wake up, with names like Campbell's, Hormel, Smuckers, and Kraft Heinz showing why boring stocks can matter when the market gets ugly.✅ SPY failed bounce, sell signal, lower lows, and 50-day test✅ Tech sector breakdown, Apple, Sonos, Sony, and volatility expansion✅ Rates, dollar, gold, silver, copper, and 2/10 spread✅ Consumer defensive, utilities, staples, and sector rotation✅ Campbell's, Hormel, Smuckers, Kraft Heinz, and packaged food stocksIf you're watching this market and wondering where money is rotating while tech breaks down… this one shows the shift happening in real time.Subscribe to OVTLYR for disciplined trading strategies that actually make sense.
Today on Uncommon Sense, we're discussing the tragic state of the modern world. From the protests in Ireland to growing frustration across Western nations, many people feel as though their voices are no longer being heard by the institutions that claim to represent them. I'll share why I support the right of people to protest and why I believe the demonstrations in Ireland have resonated with so many people around the world. We'll also discuss what I see as a deeper spiritual crisis affecting modern society. Many of the political, cultural, and social problems we face today are symptoms of a broader moral and spiritual decline, one that cannot be solved through politics alone. In this episode:My thoughts on the protests in IrelandWhy so many citizens now feel disconnected from their governmentsThe growing divide between ordinary people and powerful institutionsThe role of faith, morality, and personal responsibility in rebuilding societyWhy I believe many of today's crises point to a deeper spiritual battleWhether you agree or disagree, this episode is an invitation to think critically about the direction of our culture, our governments, and our future.--https://www.youversion.com/bible-app

In this episode, I reflect on rereading Cormac McCarthy's All the Pretty Horses as a coming-of-age novel and bring it into conversation with one of my favorite books from high school, J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye. I explore the tragic and beautiful passage into adulthood — the loss of innocence, the grief of seeing the world more clearly, and the difficult courage it takes to keep loving, working, and showing up anyway.I also connect these themes to my work as a therapist with adolescents and young adults, where therapy can become a kind of initiation space — a place to grieve what is lost, discover what is gained, and learn how to care less about the crowd while caring more about the right people. Along the way, I bring in the idea of la lucha — the struggle, the fight, the refusal to let the bastards get you down — as part of what adulthood asks of us.

Jason highlights the narrative difference between marquee NBA players within a 24-hour time frame. James Harden's playoff struggles are well documented, and his woeful performance in the Cavaliers' collapse loss to the New York Knicks in overtime in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals continues the narrative. After Victor Wembanyama registered one of the greatest playoff performances ever, Harden failed in comparison. Steve Kim and Dre Baldwin team with Jason talking hoops, Nick Wright mocking Stephen A. Smith, Marshall Faulk insinuating he should have landed an NFL head coaching position despite lack of coaching experience, and Jason Kidd being fired as the Dallas Mavericks' coach. 1. Secret Service Funding & Political Conflict The U.S. Secret Service stopped an alleged assassination attempt and they were underfunded due to Department of Homeland Security budget disputes. Democrats repeatedly voted against DHS/Secret Service funding, framing this as irresponsible given security risks. This political rhetoric contributes to political violence. Discusses legal opposition to construction of a White House ballroom with enhanced security features. The court’s temporary halt to construction is portrayed as dismissive of national security concerns. There are repeated threats against President Trump as justification for heightened security. 3. Radicalization & Political Violence Narrative Attributes recent acts of political violence to left‑wing ideology and alleged “Marxist” indoctrination in academia. Cites a purported manifesto to argue that ideological framing of “oppressors vs. victims” is used to justify violence. 4. FBI Raids and Minnesota Fraud Allegations FBI raids on over 20 childcare and nonprofit facilities in Minneapolis related to alleged large‑scale fraud. The fraud is involving misuse of taxpayer funds, particularly in programs tied to childcare and social services. Minnesota political leaders are accused of ignoring or covering up fraud while later taking credit for enforcement. There is widespread abuse of SNAP (food stamp) benefits, including recipients allegedly owning high‑end luxury vehicles. The federal eligibility rules (broad‑based categorical eligibility) are at fault for enabling fraud. Both fraudsters and policymakers who support current rules should be held accountable. Democratic officials are benefiting politically from fraud & welfare expansion. Specific figures are cited as symbols of incompetence, corruption, or ideological extremism. 7. DEI Policies & Homelessness Programs Describes homelessness assistance systems, particularly in Portland, Oregon, as driven by DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) scoring systems. Aid is prioritized based on race, sexuality, or identity over economic need leads to ineffective outcomes. Despite very high spending per homeless individual, homelessness‑related deaths increased significantly. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now.
