On this week's episode, David Prutton takes himself off to the seaside, to spend some quality time in the company of Blackpool FC manager Steve Bruce. From sharing a dressing room with Cantona, Kanchelskis, Giggs and Hughes, to realising every Geordie's dream of managing Newcastle United, Steve has enjoyed a remarkable career over his 4 decades in the game. He's got lofty ambitions for his Seasiders and is very much enjoying his time at Bloomfield Road, so who's to say he couldn't clock up an incredible 50 years of doing what he loves best!

Last season The Cobblers claimed a memorable victory up at Blackpool and will be looking for a similar result this weekend. Blackpool's season has not been one to remember for The Seasiders so far. Having departed with Neil Critchley early in the season, Steve Bruce took charge, and after an initial turnaround of form, Blackpool have slumped again of late and find themselves a place below The Cobblers in the League One table. To help us preview the game, we're joined by Kurt Marsden from the It's Not Orange podcast. Hurt fills us in on Blackpool's season so far and we look ahead to the game. Oh we don't like to be beside the seaside... yep, it was a miserable weekend on the Fylde coast for United and Paul Simpson was particularly unhappy with the behaviour of some fans after the final whistle at Bloomfield Road - did he have a point though? In this week's episode of The Brunton Bugle, Lee is joined again by Adam Tiffen (@adamtiffen18 on Twitter) to look back on the 3-0 loss to the Seasiders - lots of talk about those comments from Simmo and particularly the recent performaces of Luke Plange and how long the Blues boss can persist with him upfront. There's also a great 60 Second Review of the trip by regular contributor Jonny Atwood - not much talk about the game itself in that one! That's followed by a look ahead to this weekend's clash with Northampton Town at Brunton Park - we speak to Danny from the excellent "It's All Cobblers To Me" podcast about how they've coped with life back in the third tier.On top of that, there's a news round-up and the usual Ex-Blues update.Your host Lee Rooney is in Liverpool and is joined via the wonders of the internet by Adam Tiffen in Carlisle. You can find us on Twitter @bruntonbugle, Facebook (search for "Brunton Bugle") and email us with any questions, suggestions and feedback to bruntonbugle@gmail.com.-------------------The Carlisle United Supporters' Club London Branch is proud to be once again sponsoring the Brunton Bugle Podcast for the 2023-24 Season. As part of this sponsorship, they will be providing some useful info for us to share ahead of each away trip in terms of pubs, public transport changes, places to eat etc.The London Branch is open to all Carlisle United fans across the world - whether you're based in the capital, Jacksonville, Timbuktu, Berlin or even Cumbria itself! It's Sunday the 13th August 2023, in the evenings show we go over a fairly drab encounter on the South coast as the Seasiders and the Grecians cancel each other out in a game of few chances, apart from Matty Virtue's golden one to win it at the death! Our guests this week all have reasons to feel a little impatient. This week we are joined by Loughgall manager Dean Smith, Portadown boss Niall Currie and Ben Arthurs from the Seasiders.
Reading managed to pick up yet another home victory on Saturday, with a Tom Ince brace and Andy Carroll penalty proving to be enough to overcome relegation battlers Blackpool. We also recap the recent Premiership action - including Shay McCartan's 'Hand of God' - and chat about the transfer window including the chances of Kyle Lafferty moving to the Irish League.
Eleven changes to the starting line-up and most of them underperformed as Forest crashed to a deserved FA Cup exit at the hands of Championship strugglers Blackpool. The Reds deservedly went behind but then had more than enough chances to put the game out of sight, before more defensive errors allowed the Seasiders to convincingly put the game to bed, and leave Steve Cooper absolutely fuming. Steven Toplis presents alongside Adam, who is fresh back from his disappointing day at the seaside. We'll be back with reports after Wednesday's Carabao Cup semi-final against Wolves; how many team changes will Steve Cooper make this time? It's Wednesday 16th November 2022, in this evening's show we are discussing the future of Michael Appleton as the ‘Pool crashed to their fourth defeat on the bounce against lowly and managerless Wigan at the DW Stadium last Saturday, as we go into the Word Cup break in the relegation zone SEASIDE SEVEN The turnout - Around 3,500 fans in attendance, great support although deafened by the loudest ever PA system known to man. And the last post - was weirdly applauded and also disrespected by some fans The goalkeeper - Maxwell keeps the shirt, what has Grimmy done to not get a look in given Maxwell's indifferent form? Spoke to Grimmy in Costa. Three changes for the Seasiders fixture against Connolly, Williams and Lavery all start Marv was sent off again - Terrible decision-making yet again, sent off and is regressing badly this season, a liability almost. Does anyone care to speculate the reasons why? And was it a pen? Big Gaz Boom! - Dragged one wide early doors but what a strike from Madine, hunger, desire and great technical ability. Corner fiasco - Never a corner in the first place but laughable defending. No one marking either post. Who's to blame for that? On Tilt to score the winner. With the constant barrage of balls into the box in the second half, no surprise Wigan eventually put one in. Sacked in the morning - Our responses to hearing that TALKING POINT Post-match policing operation in Wigan. Blackpool fans were batoned and assaulted by GMP on the walk back to the train station.
