Join DJ, Eoin and guests as they chat in some of Ireland's cosiest pubs, and occasionally venture beyond the pub! This laid back podcast is ideal for the commute, cleaning the house and tailor made for the stroll to the pub.
Eoin is on holiday so DJ recruited the amazing Thandi from the Beer Ladies Podcast and Peter Breen from Drink Irish to discuss their recent foray into the Wild Beer Festival. We admit it lads, we got giddy, we got excited, and we went at it too hard. This episode is two boys trying to recount what happened last Friday night in Phil Grimes where we were meant to record a podcast but were so enamoured with the return of the high stool... we.... well, you'll just have to listen to find out. We also go back and cast through the Pilsner Prowl for a stellar beer... It's Pure Notions. Last week the Snugcast was back, this week, the country is back.... COME OOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!! The boys are joined by Peter Breen from the Portlaoise Pub Club and the #DrinkIrish movement and we basically chat all good things of the pubs reopening. We share our thoughts on the first pint, first pub and first chat we're all going to experience. We've been so giddy with the thoughts of stepping back into the pubs, we may lose the run of ourselves a bit. This week's shout-out goes to Brú Brewery. We'd like to thank Ciaraíoch (find her work on https://www.ciaraioch.com/) This week we discussed about how we're swapping out our old ads and giving back to the community by advertising an Irish brewery each week. Kinnegar Brewing is our shoutout this week. Go pick yourself up some Scraggy Bay you beauties. We've also started giving more to our beautiful Patreon supporters by giving an exclusive post-podcast recording called the Síbín where we go a bit looser and talk even more muck. It has been a very long 4 and a half months. Sobriety doesn't suit me. So, after an accident that struck me out for a bit I teamed up with my partner in crime, and our good friend Tommy Keighery for a night of pints to beat the band in the one and only Phil Grimes. Thanks for sticking with us folks, and for all the kind messages! 2022 is our year. Merry Christmas, happy New Year. May 2022 be full of pints and free of this bastard virus. This week it is just the two boys. They run the Eucharius Pils by the Weissenoher and the Audiovisual Lager from Collective Arts Brewing Company. They also talk about being randomly placed in towns and cities for work purposes and sussing the local pubs. That led them onto trying to analyse the news from the previous week through the prism of an Irish pub with a COVID mindset removed. A surprisingly cathartic process. Bain taitneamh as, enjoy. Last week we chatted about the pubs opening again on September 21st! The Last Call is a 2 part audio miniseries we have produced in conjunction with some pubs around Ireland. We speak to Tom Ryan of Phil Grimes Pub, Marie Mellett of Mellett's Emporium, Aoife Brennan of The Kilteel Inn, Ed Cahill from Tully's, Mike McMahon of Mothermacs and Fergal Chamber of The Four Provinces. In Part 1 of the series we find out about the background and setting of these pubs and try to get to know them a bit ebtter, before getting stuck into the impact COVID has had on them in part 2 as well as what the future looks like. The Last Call refers to the last time we have had a pint in these pubs, but not the final call. The resilience, determination to come back stronger and the love for the role each of the pubs play in the respective communities shines through these interviews. We hope you enjoy. #SupportNotSympathy was trending on Twitter yesterday, when we were due to publish this episode, but we held it back. We want to give pubs a small platform for their voices to be heard, but yesterday the pubs grabbed the bull by the horns and shouted from their rooftops. Fair play to you all. Hang in their, our lips are quivering for a pint in your company, sooner rather than later. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/snugcast/message
