Hello music lovers!!! On this week's episode, we discuss the recent national and global protests demanding racial justice due to the violent killings of #GeorgeFloyd #AhmaudArbery and #BreonnaTaylor by police. The ladies also discussed the "impact" of the #BlackoutTuesday initiative created by the music industry to protest these incidents. Some streaming services created blacked out, silent, or minimal programming lasting 8 minutes and 46 seconds, the length of time it took for George Floyd's life to be taken. However some of us were not 100% impressed with their efforts and we challenged the music industry to do more! In addition, we provide listeners with resources they can use to help fight against police brutality if protesting on the front lines is not your lane. There is something we can all do to help fight for justice! Take a listen for more information! Hey music lovers! Have you been in a R&B funk?? Tired of the same old song and dance you hear on the radio?? If the answer is yes, then we are on the same page. This week we interviewed singer, songwriter, and producer Dante Hawkins from New York who is determined to make you fall in love with R&B all over again! During our conversation we discussed how he got his start in the game and how an unexpected encounter with DeVante Swing of Jodeci helped further ignite his passion for music. Describing his sound as "life music", Dante pulls from personal experiences to inspire others one song at a time. We see that on his song "Journey" as he walks listeners through the hardships he experienced growing up in a broken home. Even though it was a long ride, he persevered and made his life his own. His willingness to be open and honest about his journey resonates with both women and men. Society often discourages men from tapping into their emotions and speaking on certain matters, but through his music Dante lends a voice to the fellas who often go unheard. Dante has worked with a lot of heavy hitters in the music industry and does not plan on slowing down any time soon. His latest single “This is Real” evokes hip-hop, R&B and pop all in one record! Take a listen and find out why “life music” is the new wave. In the hip-hop industry beefs are just a part of the game. Some beefs are short lived while others last a lifetime... Today, social media ignites more beefs than ever. That beef resulted in one of the best dis records of all time “Back to Back”. Unfortunately, Drake didn’t hold the reign for too long once the “Story of Adonis” made its debut.
