Lock in to a groove and turn the vibes up to "Immaculate," this week the EarWax crew dives into The Roots' "Things Fall Apart."Cody and Hilary touch on the Soulquarians, and the sessions that resulted in some of the most stunning work of this era. "Things Fall Apart" was the result of two batches of sessions - one a host of Philadelphia community members and friend so the group. The next at Electric Lady Studios, with folks like Lady B, Mos Def, and J Dilla in the room."Things Fall Apart" is one of those records that you've heard, even if you haven't. Its thumbprint is all over contemporary hip-hop, soul, jazz, and R&B. With the group ready to break through, they created something that did more than break them, it locked them in as legends. Thanks for listening! From hoodies to hip-hop, from cultural influence to corporate boardrooms—your identity is your brand's greatest asset. In this Masterclass episode, Evante Daniels returns to unpack the power of authenticity in branding and how embracing your unique identity can translate into profitability. We explore the psychology behind brand confidence, the impact of personal style in professional spaces, and why cultural IP is one of the most undervalued assets in business. But here's the truth—if you don't tie your branding and positioning to ROI, the market won't either. Evante breaks down why companies cut diversity initiatives, why cultural branding often gets overlooked, and how Black entrepreneurs can strategically position themselves to not just be seen, but to drive revenue and business growth. It's not just about showing up—it's about making sure your presence is tied to measurable impact, market share, and long-term brand equity. We also break down real-world examples of cultural branding done right—from hip-hop moguls to streetwear legends—and how businesses can leverage their narratives to elevate influence, establish credibility, and turn cultural capital into actual capital.Whether you're a creator, executive, or entrepreneur, this conversation will challenge you to rethink your brand positioning, embrace your full identity, and ensure your brand isn't just culturally relevant—but financially powerful.Tap in for Part 3 of this powerful Masterclass with Evante Daniels! On this flashback of Take It Personal, we're hitting you with a combined remastered version of episodes 29 & 30, our Native Tongues Tribute. This 12+ hour episode features music from the most important, and influential hip-hop collective we've ever seen. With the help and hustle of both DJ Red Alert and Chris Lighty, the Native Tongues were a force to be reckoned with. The Jungle Brothers paved the way for groups like De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest and Black Sheep. Prior to The Flava Unit, Queen Latifah was this crew's Den mother. Along with her protege Monie Love, they were both instrumental in helping the female movement in hip-hop. The Native Tongues provided plenty of classic albums, countless anthems and produced more offspring than Joe Jackson. The Natives helped jumpstart the careers of Busta Rhymes, Chi-Ali, Mos Def, J Dilla and have influenced artists such as Brand Nubian, K.M.D., Common, The Beatnuts, Bush Babees, The Roots, Slum Village, Little Brother, Kanye West, Black Star, Pharrell, Hieroglyphics, The Pharcyde, J5, Kedrick Lamar, Pusha T, Andre 3000 and even Nas.
