Join me today with the plastic surgeon responsible for my beautiful tummy tuck, Manhattan's Dr. Joshua Zuckerman. In today's episode, I'll be taking you through my transformative journey with a tummy tuck, joined by the skilled plastic surgeon who performed my abdominoplasty on November 3, 2022. It was a significant day for me, a blend of excitement and apprehension. My belly had always protruded slightly, a result of muscular structure rather than excess weight. Regardless of shedding pounds, it remained prominent. I accepted it for most of my life, perceiving it as an inherent part of my physique. I was fit and lean, and it wasn't a deterrent, to say the least! However, the reality was that it did bother me, especially in certain clothing, leading me to strategically conceal it. Surprisingly, I even won two world bikini shows with that bit of protrusion. I attempted to embrace this flaw rather than succumb to complete self-consciousness, yet deep down, it did affect me. Approaching 60 nearly three years ago, I noticed a change in my abdominal area. Despite not gaining weight, my discomfort in clothing escalated to the point where getting dressed became an ordeal. I started feeling disheartened about the body I had diligently maintained. In September 2022, after selling my fitness studio and effectively retiring, I finally had the opportunity to address something I'd long desired—eliminating the loose skin that had accumulated as I aged. That bigger belly roll turned out to be excess skin! After consulting around 10 surgeons and considering various suggestions, I chose Dr. Joshua Zuckerman, a seasoned Manhattan-based plastic surgeon known for numerous successful tummy tuck surgeries, a compassionate approach, an attentive team, and a fully equipped surgical center in his office. The rest, as they say, is history! My confidence in my body has never been higher. I hope my story can provide reassurance to anyone contemplating this surgery yet apprehensive about it. I, too, fretted about the resulting scar, but it's gradually fading, and the surgeon created a new, adorable belly button, leaving me with a sculpted appearance. Myth #1: Do extra crunches to flatten your abs. Excessive crunches aren't the answer for tight abs. In order to achieve a toned look you'll have to focus on burning off the layer of fat that is covering up your tummy. Tip: Don't obsess about crunches - instead focus on fat burning. Myth #2: Take diet pills to speed results. I know it's so tempting! The ads make compelling claims about the power of popping a pill, but don't fall for it. There is no ‘magic pill'. Diet pills are more likely to burn through your pocketbook than to slim you down. Tip: Don't pop a pill - instead burn calories with intense exercise. Myth #3: Turn to packaged diet products to boost results. Don't fall for the foods that are packaged as ‘diet' or ‘weight loss' aids. Quite often these products are packed with refined sugar and other artificial ingredients that your body doesn't need, and certainly won't help you attain that tight tummy. Tip: Don't eat packaged diet foods - instead stick with nutritious whole foods. Myth #4: Avoid all carbohydrates in order to achieve tight abs. Carbohydrates have been given a bad rap, which is unfortunate because you can (and should) eat carbs while slimming down. The key is to stick with whole grains, oatmeal and brown rice while avoiding processed and refined flours and sugars. Tip: Don't give up all carbohydrates - instead stick with wholesome carbs. Myth #5: Starve the chub away. Trying to lose weight by starving yourself is not only ineffective it can also be dangerous. It may seem that severe calorie restriction would deliver the quickest weight loss, but your body is complex and by doing so you'll disrupt your metabolism and slow your results. Tip: Don't starve yourself - instead eat small wholesome meals throughout the day. Now that you know what not to do in order to achieve tight abs, it's time to go over your flat tummy game plan. Here's what you need to know in 3 simple steps: Step One: No more junk. The best way to do this is by purging your kitchen. Throw out the sugary, processed and fat-filled foods. Once the junk has been cleared out, don't buy any more of it. Remember that your beach-ready abs depend on what you eat – don't eat junk! Step Two: Eat whole foods. Replace the junk food in your life with plenty of the following: cooked and raw vegetables, fresh fruits, whole grains, moderate amounts of seeds and nuts, lean meats and low fat dairy. Clean eating really is that simple. Step Three: Come train with me. This is the most obvious step. You're ready to get into great shape and I'm in a unique position to make that happen for you. From Wikipedia -"Square peg in a round hole" is an idiomatic expression which describes the unusual individualist who could not fit into a niche of their society.[1] This new character is about trying to fit in.  The most vulnerable time in my life was when it was life or death to fit, when I was a teenager.   Blessed are those who had good role models and encouraged their children to stand out rather than fit in.  In addition encouraged their children to try new things and catch them when they fell.  The media Facebook, Twitter, Snap Chat, Tik Tok, You Tube, Instagram and Kneebook, Twanger, Snip it Snap it what ever else,  all have their benefits.  However many platforms may promote fear within each of us to get  Prettier, Smarter, Stronger, Flat Tummy, Bigger Muscles, Better clothes, Less Wrinkles and the list goes on and on and on and on.
