Welcome back to Market Mondays! In this insightful clip, hosts Rashad Bilal, Ian Dunlap, and Troy Millings dive into the current state of the stock market, analyzing the recent volatility and its implications for investors. With the Dow dropping 700 points last Friday, financial experts dissect whether we are experiencing a cycle of buying opportunities or continued uncertainty. The trio kicks off the discussion by addressing investor anxieties amid a turbulent market. Ian Dunlap provides valuable lessons on market volatility, emphasizing that what goes up must come down, and foresees potential recovery between Tuesday and Thursday. While discussing the market's intricacies, Ian highlights factors such as future expiration, executive leadership plans in Washington, and the impact of aggressive cuts through Doge, all contributing to the current financial climate.Troy Millings adds to the discourse, pointing out Meta's historic 21-day run of stock appreciation and the subsequent pullback. Viewing it as a natural correction, Troy encourages investors to see this as an opportunity for better entry points. Alongside Meta, they delve into other tech giants with robust AI spending plans, including Nvidia's forthcoming earnings report, anticipated as a significant event in the first quarter. As the conversation broadens to international competition, Troy and Ian emphasize the global AI race between China and the United States. Alibaba's allocation of over 70 billion into AI and the purchase of 230,000 GPUs sets the stage for a tech revolution, signaling China's keen interest in maintaining a competitive edge. The discussion reflects on the broader implications of AI advancements, citing companies like Badu, the Chinese counterpart to Google, and BYD versus Tesla. The hosts stress the significance of the ongoing tech civil war and the importance of the United States remaining a frontrunner in the AI domain.Lastly, the clip underscores the critical need to monitor both domestic and international developments. China's strategic moves and scheduled meetings with large-cap companies highlight the importance of staying informed of global market trends and events that could substantially influence the AI landscape.Join us as we navigate the complexities of today's market and explore the endless possibilities and challenges on the horizon. Once upon a time, many, many Blacks like COVID and Chemo had to struggle against bad faith arguments about racial identity after a whole entire yt lady in kinky twists, wigs, and braids, wig-caps, bonnets, and Badu headwraps was the head of the Spokane, WA chapter of the NAACP. In case you late, the "C" stands for "colored" and not "chicanery," which is what this infamous race-fakin' woman was on, leaving a trail of Black sorrows and strife in her wake with each delulu step. Some of y'all already know what it is, but everyone is welcome to join COVID and Chemo for a deep dive into the phenomenon of race faking, Blackfishing, and perpetual minstrelsy in the yt community. Also, that yt lady Elizabeth Finch is not only responsible for writing the senseless exits of beloved fictional characters on Shonda's hospital show, but she is also a whole entire lie. #staywoke #yakiaintforeverybody

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion consultant Dr Amina Douidi talks about racial basis in teaching, materials, and assessment in the context of the language classroom and shares actions we can take to address the problem.Click here to watch this episode with closed captions.KEY TALKING POINTSIdentifying BiasAmina explains that racial bias in the classroom often manifests through disciplinary issues. Teachers might disproportionately describe students with negative characteristics based on their race or ethnicity. These biases are rooted in societal and historical hierarchies.Decolonising MaterialsTo decolonise the curriculum, Amina suggests diversifying teaching materials. Highlighting contributions from minority groups to society can make the curriculum more representative and relevant.Inclusive LanguageTeachers should identify and eliminate problematic language, including sexist, racist, ableist, or ageist terms. Reflecting on biases in both the languages used in the classroom and students' home languages is crucial.Assessment PracticesAmina shares an example from Orlene Badu's book "How to Build Your Anti-Racist Classroom," where integrating relatable literature for black Caribbean students improved their reading and writing skills.Sustainable ChangeAmina emphasises the importance of collaborative efforts among teachers to review and revise curriculum and practices. Long-term, sustainable changes, rather than quick fixes, are necessary for meaningful impact.ABOUTDr Amina Douidi is a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Intercultural Communication consultant in English Language Teaching (ELT). She collaborates with publishers and education providers as a trainer, reviewer, and researcher, focusing on promoting anti-racist, decolonial, and inclusive practices. Starlight Thursdays Episode 180, Lets welcome Sticky People AKA The Backseat DJ to the series!!! We'er super happy to have this good vibing house mix in the collection. It's been fantastic getting to know him and experiencing his work not only as a DJ and music producer but also as a the brains behind “The Rainbow Fade” sound camp at Forest Creatures 6. How long have you been DJing? 22 years Why did you get into it? I was trying to get a job as a bartender at a bar and grill that had a dance floor, but they needed a DJ. I had never wanted to be a DJ prior to that, but I was a musician that could recognize a wall full of amps and geeky A/V gear, so I took the Job What events have you played? I put together a stage (The Rainbow Fade) at Forest Creatures 6, as well as a Jam Camp (The Jam Clam) at Saguaro Man 2013. I got to do an epic 7+ hour set at the Lost Lizard Lounge at Saguaro Man 2012. It was probably the best night of my life. I did a hip hop sunrise set that morning and I think it might have worked. I cut my teeth in a top 40 club that didn't know what it wanted to be, so I got to learn mixing with corporate-approved cdr's in a bar and grill that sold boneless wings until 10pm and lots of people danced to my very first attempts at “around the world” with madonna's - “Music”. The first time I ever attempted producing my own mashup, the ingredients were the chemical brothers, eiffel 65, depeche mode and goddamn Jimmy Eat World. I ended one saturday night with that mashup and some girl came up to my booth to tell me that the last song I played was the worst thing she'd ever heard! Where are you from? Missoula by way of Phoenix, Venezuela, and Richland What inspires you about DJing? When you see people in the room react to a rhythm. Even if you aren't necessarily into what's happening and you're just trying to figure things out, and then you see someone reacting and it fuels your next move What inspires you about electronic music culture? The closer i get to the subwoofers, the more things seem to make sense What genres are in your mix? House, bossa nova, breaks, garage, downtempo A few words about your mix? I love Erykah badu. I put together a bunch of other stuff that I'd discovered and dug in the last couple years to build a mix with Badu sitting right in the middle of it. The mix with Badu is probably the best mix i've ever discovered and pulled off. You should use it. For real. Anything else you want us to know? The new menstrual health education curriculum will be implemented in D.C. schools starting next year. This is the first time that a comprehensive menstrual health education curriculum will be taught in all public schools in a major U.S. city. The curriculum will cover topics such as anatomy, puberty, menstruation, and reproductive health. Amanda talks about the importance of this curriculum and how it will help to break down the stigma around menstruation and empower young people to take control of their own health. Another topic on the show is Erykah Badu's recent concert in Florida, where she called out fans for leaving early. Badu had stopped the concert to address the issue of people leaving, saying that she felt disrespected by their actions. Amanda talks about the importance of respecting artists and their performances, and how it's important to be mindful of the impact that our actions can have on others. Amanda discusses a recent ruling by a federal judge in Florida that blocked a ban on using Medicaid for gender-affirming care. The ban had been put in place by the state's Republican Governor, Ron DeSantis. Amanda talks about the importance of this ruling and how it will help to ensure that transgender people have access to the care they need. Also we talk about the unveiling of a new U.S. Postal Service stamp honoring congressman John Lewis. Lewis was a civil rights icon who fought for equality and justice for all. Amanda talks about the importance of Lewis' legacy and how the stamp is a fitting tribute to his work. In addition to these topics, Amanda also discusses other news stories and current events. She also shares her thoughts on a variety of topics, including pop culture, politics, and social justice. The Amanda Seales Show is a great way to stay informed and engaged with the world around you.
