Today I sit down with Dr. Meagan McArthur, a chiropractor and money mentor, who started sharing money tips and resources tailored to women when she realized she was graduating from school and needed a strategy to pay off loans. We get candid on the fear that surrounds us talking about our finances and dive into our personal money stories and why we are so passionate about empowering women with the tools to make their own money decisions. Meag shares how she taught herself about money and why she now creates content teaching others about money, from investing, loan strategy, buying a house and building a savings. I've been wanting to talk money on here for a while so I'm honored to do so with a fellow female who understands why its so important to hear about money from other women. This convo is one we all need to have and I am so excited for you to listen, I hope you enjoy! Panelists Eriol Fox | Katie Wilson | Meag Doherty Show Notes Welcome to Sustain Open Source Design! In this second part of a series of podcasts about the user work, Eriol is joined by Katie Wilson and Meag Doherty to discuss their project, Superbloom, which delves into design and usability in scientific and research open source software. Today, they shed light into the ideal user type of open source software tools, the focus on software maintainability in design, and how software complexity plays into its perceived value in decision-making, and how it may impact the progress of open science. They also discuss the necessity of usability in decision-making, and how it may impact the progress of open science, and they highlight their experiences at various events and initiatives that underscore the importance of continuing conversations around these topics. Hit download now to hear more! [00:01:14] Katie Wilson, a Design Researcher at Superbloom and Meag Doherty, the Deputy Chief User Experience Officer at the All of Us Research Program, introduce themselves and we'll hear what their relationship is to the project. [00:04:17] Eriol introduces the topic of end users and discusses the discovery that most open source software tools, including those in scientific and research domains, seem to have an ideal user type with particular skills and capabilities. [00:07:05] Katie continues the conversation, mentioning that when asked about design, many open source software projects focus on making the software as maintainable and contributable as possible, thus often perceiving the users as fellow programmers or contributors. [00:09:25] Eriol shares one last thought on the usability chapter and comments on how complexity in scientific and research open source software could be viewed as a safety aspect that validates their relevance in the field. [00:11:30] Meag segues to the potential impact of these findings. She emphasizes that usability is not an afterthought but central to the decision-making process, and poor usability could hinder the progress of open science. [00:12:59] Katie addresses UX best practices in the context of scientific software, suggesting that the tool's complexity might dictate its user experience. [00:14:52] Eriol talks about accessibility. They explain that designers view accessibility from a different perspective that scientists or researchers in the open source software space. However, for non-designers, accessibility is understood, as broadening the tool's application and potential discovery of science and research. [00:19:21] The conversation shifts to Meag talking about incentives, particularly within university settings and academic groups. She stresses the importance of understanding incentives and looking for windows of opportunity to implement usability improvements. [00:20:13] Eriol describes some work done by their colleagues, who created a series of informative zines distilling complex research findings into six-page summaries. [00:22:50] Katie discusses an ecosystem map they developed to visualize interconnected projects, institutions, and contributors within the scientific and research open-source software space. [00:24:15] Meag talks about a trip to an open source science retreat in Germany where the focus was on the usability of software used by research software engineers daily. She also mentions more of their work was shared at the Software Sustainability Institute's Collaboration Workshop and at JupyterCon 2023 in Paris. [00:27:24] Eriol affirms the importance of welcoming new people into the space to sustain and improve usability design, highlighting the need to include people from the peripheries of science, research, and open source. Spotlight [00:29:21] Eriol's spotlight is a project funded by the Vermont Complex Systems that was a series of weekly designer diary studies that designers did over 10 weeks that they coordinated at Superbloom. [00:30:25] Meag's spotlight is The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy that has taken big steps to do listening sessions. [00:31:08] Katie's spotlight is the project, AutSPACEs, a platform where autistic people can report their experiences on sensory processing differences in everyday life. As you'll see in this episode with astrologer and herbalist Maeg Keane, there's much more to blackberry than an astringent herb to help bind up loose stools or diarrhea! For instance… What if blackberry could teach you about setting boundaries and letting go of what's not serving you? These are just two of the astrology-inspired perspectives that Maeg explores in our conversation. But even on a more physical plane, what's not to love about a plant that:► Gives you a delicious dose of antioxidants and a blood tonic all in one► Can bring some relief from leaky, boggy allergy symptoms► Tightens up mouth ulcers or spongy gums► and more…By the end of this episode, you'll know:► How astrology and herbalism complement each other► When a very simple herbal recipe is best► A possible remedy to call upon for relief from acute or traveler's diarrheaHere is one of my favorite takeaways from our conversation: There's “a belief that there's only one way to know the truth, that it has to look like lab coats for it to be true. I think that is one way that we find out what the truth is… and I don't think we should walk away from it. And there are many others that predate it and live alongside it.” For those of you who don't already know Maeg, they are a consulting astrologer, herbalist, and writer. Their work is rooted in an animist, devotional approach that tends to the ties that bind us to each other and to the more-than-human world. Whether relating to the stars from which we come or to the alive and wise planet we call home, Maeg hopes to bring people into nourishing companionship with the teeming, enchanted world around them. They run Third Sister, an online client practice through which they offer one-on-one astrology readings and herbal care.Meag weaves perspectives and disciplines together in such a kind, gentle, grounded, and thought-provoking way. The gals are back after an impromptu and much-needed break. Please enjoy this gift for waiting which is a four months ago recorded podcast that is more outdated than any episode we've ever published. We begin by going over our Fall travels - we've done nothing exciting since then so you haven't missed much! Maxine regales us with her fancy Miami restaurant experience complete with hostesses wearing prom dresses. Laura and Meag discuss their Vegas/Skankfest adventure and we (slowly) transition that into Dizz on the Grizz. Laura reveals her brave and exciting beginners journey with soup and you'll never guess the one that got her into it. The gals end this way-too-long episode with an explosive fight about UFOs after our Netflix Addictions segment. Believe it or not, this was edited way down. Is this the reason why we needed a break? Listen to the full episode and you'll see. Best, White Bitch Buffet

It's a newsy week and we've got a long newsy show for you all. This week we're serving up... Aperitifs: Crown Casino lose their license but also don't, featuring Noon singing. The Federal Government is trying to bring in voter ID laws. And Michael Leunig has been fired from the age. We also have a SPOTW for Meag's Leunig knock-off. Positivity Corner: ICAC continues to ICAC, with both Gladys Berejiklian and Daryl Maguire taking the witness stand this week. We re-enact some of the tapped phone calls and get you up to date with all the major drama. First Nations: New funding for Indigenous artists is cool but doesn't address with the huge problems and rampant exploitation in the Aboriginal art industry, which artists and art collectives have been calling for help with. ACAB: Former head of ethics at Victorian Police, Brett Guerin, will receive no punishment for making several hundred of some of the most vile and racist internet comments either of us have ever seen. Fashy Australia: Zac takes us through the Online Safety Act, the changes to privacy laws, and the Online Defamation Bill, three attempts by the Federal Government to regulate social media platforms. Mains - Nat Zero Carbonara: Scott Morrison is going to COP26 (the annual international climate policy conference) with a completely useless and meaningless "the plan" for net zero emissions by 2050. It's actually impressively bad. In this episode you will learn: Dreamers Definition (MEAG Style) Doers Definition (MEAG Style) Dreamers Vs Doers does not mean one is better than the other The title of the Podcast is Dreamers Vs Doers, which we discuss how to shift your mindset so you can do the work to make the dreams come true. However, I equally believe that there is another difference between the two. I believe that some people are Dreamers, some are Doers, and some people are a mix of the two! I am! Check out this episode to hear the difference and see which one you resonate with more. “Dreamers are drum majors of self-evolution and inspire us all to keep going, growing, and glowing in the journey of life.” Doers motto “There are risks and costs to action. But they are far less than the long term risks of comfortable inaction.” Book your 90 Min Clarity Call HERE It's time to do a brain dump and clear up the clutter in your life. The bitches come out of the gates hard discussing an important topic: boobs. We give a shout out to possibly our only listener on Earth, Cousin James! Hey, Cousin James!! Next, we slide into our new segment, Bad Bitch Alert where we shout out Bad Bitches who gave us the will to go on into 2021. In Dizzle on the Grizzle, Laura bravely revisits a traumatic experience she recently had at Burger King that can only be described as a “condiment nightmare.” Maxine gives us a bread update, sort-of; she’s basically now a dough lady who regularly reeks of garlic. A new Poptart flavor is on the scene!!! Meaghan reveals the discovery slowly and, what some would call, too thoroughly. We get local with Laura telling us about a Bridgewater based breakfast joint, Ronnie's Waffles! Meag shouts out some Providence based local places - The District & Friskie Fries! Maxine yays us into Netflix Addictions by catching up on shows that Meag and Laura have already seen; Dash & Lily and Holidate. Things take a turn when Maxine brings up her internal hatred for the main character of the new movie, Happiest Season. Meag educates us on a new tradition in her household, Bed Day, while begging everyone to watch Godmothered. We close out the episode with some pros and cons of 2020 and talk about trying to find the silver lining through a really bad year. Find the bitches on FB as White Bitch Buffet, follow on twitter @whitebtchbuffet and probably don't go to our website because it's corrupt - GBless.

November 2020 is another remote pod as the pandemic rages on. What also rages on is Laura's undying love for Taco Bell as we go back at it again in What's the Dizzle on the Grizzle. We talkin bout taco bell lies, fancy taco bell, Meag talks Dunkin' holiday specials, fresh baked bread, and local fried chicken.....you hungry yet?? The bitches jump into Netflix Addictions and talk cheesey holiday flicks Dash & Lily and Holidate, Maxini talks murder, and we all come together again for our common love of food...shows!. lol The girls wrap up the episode with some warm and fuzzies, Christmas stories! Best gifts, strange memories and stray wheelchairs. White Bitch Bye bye
Ooooof take 2... Big L, Maxini and Meag accidentally messed up their first attempt at this month's podcast and had to restart. Luckily they had plenty of wine to handle the mishap and had plenty to talk about! They start with Dizzle on the Grizzle yet again, SHOCKER. Taco Bell is still changing up their game and you already know Big L has a special take on these changes. Things get a little heated between Big L and Meag when Meag disses the shredded chicken burrito that is held so closely to Big L's heart and soul. A couple Wendy's and McDonald's updates are thrown in as well. They hop into Netflix Addictions next where Maxine and Meag gush about PEN15 while Big L has quite an opposite take on the show. Listen to hear Maxine's newest obsessions and her take on shows like Great British Baking Show, King of the Hill, American Murder: The Family Next Door, Hubie Halloween, The Challenger: The Final Flight and Chef's Table BBQ. Meag switches gears and gets real serious real fast and discusses the documentary A Life on our Planet. Very informative, very sad but very inspirational. She jumps back on the light-hearted train and gushes on Emily in Paris with Maxine. Big L doesn't have much to offer besides rewatching Hocus Pocus (twice in one week) which creates a discussion on Disney vs Nickelodeon. They wrap up the podcast with a new segment called Thanksgiving Draft. Whose Thanksgiving Day would you chose?
Join Dr. Meag-gan and Joakina as they discuss Black mental health and wellness. Learn why "if anyone needs therapy, it's Black folks" (4:00) and how Black women aren't actually that strong (9:54). Dr. Meag-gan also outlines the four foundational things needed for wellness (16:33)and how hustle culture can be harmful (20:00). We wrap up by discussing joy (26:09) and Dr. Meag-gan shares what she does to maintain wellness and peace (30:31). The episode concludes with a My Girlfriends segment (37:45).

EP 74 is another remotely recorded pod with Meaghan and Laura sippin on the bubbly and Maxini munchin on some suey. They kick off the episode revisiting The Dizzle on the Grizzle as there have been some huge updates... no mo (po)tato or shredded chicken, RIP shredded chicken burrito WHYY!?!? The bitches cheer themselves up by talking nostalgic Netflix Addictions; Max gushes over Netflix's new original Babysitters Club remake, and Laura takes a trip down membory lane with wholesome Cobra Kai. Meag binged HBO's Love Life with Anna Kendrick a lil too hard but would still recommend (8 out of 10 stars. This month the ladies all made it a priority to kickstart new Hulu original series Woke with Lamorne Morris, and they all fit in the first 2 episodes and their honest reviews even if they make you feel bad for feeling them. Another followup segment, this time Bitches Reading Books! Maxini read the best book she had in years, being The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. Meaghan talks spy books and romance with The Day We Meet Again. Laura celebrates a thifty win and scored Girl, Stop Apologizing on sale and can't wait to sink her teeth into it. The bitches wrap up this ep talking all things Halloween! #yeetthetreats, Coronaween and a movie quote match up(spoiler alert we suck.) And last but not least please do not forget to go out and VOTE on November 3rd!! It is so SO important. #blacklivesmatter #whitebitchbuhbye
Episode 73 starts off in true nonsense fashion where the girls get immediately side tracked talking comedy shows. They quickly get back in gear when Big L remembers they're talking What's the Dizzle on the Grizzle. MAJOR announcements regarding Taco Bells menu drops and add-ons are dished and you already know Big L has A LOT to say about this. Is she still on the T-Bell train? Give a listen to find out. They jump into their monthly Netflix Addictions segment where the girls talk for far too long on The Kissing Booth 2. If you haven't watched, give it a listen and let us know if you're Team Marco or Team Noah. Also hear Max's HOT-take on the missed opportunity of the non-DILF casting from The Kissing Booth 2. Lastly, Max, Big L and Meag jump into a new segment called The Bitches are Reading where you might have guessed, we talk about the different books we are reading (or should I say not reading but are trying to read). Just a friendly reminder that #BlackLivesMatter and you should continue to donate, share stories, call your local/state representatives, speak up!! Keep fighting the good fight friends! :)
July 2020 is late but as good as ever lol. Laura and Max are joined by Meaghan once again and this time they switch things up talking ~shroom talk~ before even Netflix Addictions. They recap Maxini and Kev's most recent experience on shrooms as babysat by Laur and Meag. Then we can't forget Netflix addictions for real, the girls dish on all the latest movies and shows theyre bingeing in quarantine. They try their best to stump each other in another edition of their favorite game Whose News? where they guess betqeen real and made up news headlines. They wrap up the episode with a looooong overdue SHPORT TALK as Big L gives us all the low down on NHL hockey playoffs that are finally kicking back off!! Find the bitches on FB as White Bitch Buffet and follow on twitter @whitebtchbuffet.
EP 70 is the bitches 2nd remote pod of quarantine and oooh baby are they hitting their stride. Big L and Maxini are joined by Meag once again talking Netflix Addictions, online shopping and things we're looking forward to on the other side of corona. Laura and Max are ready for that Riverdale fever to resume after a looooong hiatus but they also dished about Never Have I Ever and Have a Good Trip: Adventures in Psychadelics. Meag gives a glowing review of The Wrong Missy and The Midnight Gospel with Duncan Trussell. While we've been cooped up in the house you knoooow that hasn't stopped us from shopping, the girls made some good purchases and some literally worth booing, listen to find out. Once we are able to phase out of Coronavirus 2020 we are very excited to get back into the world, the bitches dish on their top priorities upon returning to society. And lastly, this episode was recorded before George Floyd's murder and before our world was ignited for change but the White Bitch Buffet want to express full support for the Black Lives Matter movement and the dismantlement of systemic racism in our country. #blacklivesmatter

Over the weekend, Meag took her little sister to her first strip club with Toya. It was an experience within itself and will probably never happen again (lol). Toya realized the grass is greener where she is watering it. We get deep about what BET's, "Being Mary Jane" meant to us and if we liked the series finale. We also talk about how our mind has a way of playing tricks on us through anxiety - and yes, everyone needs therapy. Lastly, we talk about what leads to people starting a new life for themselves after being frustrated with how things are going. Don't forget to like, comment, subscribe and share!

Toya came back from Coachella and had a 'new' experience that has us excited for her future. Then we give Beyonce all the praise she deserves for doing the damn thing with her 'Homecoming' Netflix special. Last but not least we give an ode to good ole FAMU and all the HBCUs that shape and challenge the minds of black people! Don't forget to comment, like, subscribe, and share!
This week we have our first guest on the show, London SeaBreeze, a model and actress who starred alongside Matthew McConaughey in his new film "Beach Bum". Meaghan St. Marc says she is the most non-entrepreneur Entrepreneur. But sometimes you can't fight destiny! This is who she was meant to be! In the last few years she and her business partner have opened not one, not two, but THREE spin studios. Like many of us, she felt like she had to do what she studied in college, but her love of fitness and helping people couldn't be denied. Today, Rev'd Indoor Cycling has a big following in the Boston 'burbs. In fact, when Soul Cycle moved in next door. But this small business did not get scared by the competition. In fact, business has gotten better. A HUSTLER, newlywed, and soon to be mommy, Meag is definitely a girl boss, which she describes as a woman doing something, pushing the limits, creating and supporting. YASS!
Is a lack of a God the basis for a religion? This week we tackle that very question over drinks with Meag! We get into everything from the myths of atheism, the history of it, and the various tenents. What is, actually, the difference between a philosophy and a religion? Can one have religion without God? And how much of *this* particular philosophy is misunderstood, and how much does it have in common with other forms of spirituality? Books &c Mentioned this episode were... the Thomas Jefferson version of the BibleRichard Dawkins' "The God Delusion"Joseph Campbell's "Godesses: Mysteries of the Feminine Divine"the infamous Stephen Fry interview where he lambasts GodPierre Chodelos de Laclos' "Dangerous Liaisons" NOTE: The Drunk Host must be corrected by the Sober Editor, becuse Robespierre was, in fact, an impassioned advocate of the Cult of the Supreme Being (Culte de l'Être Suprême), while the Cult of Reason (Culte de la Raison) was a rival state religion pushed by the like of Fouche and Herbert.
