You don't need to be a perfect disciple to be a disciple. In this message, Jeff looks at two more visitations and how Jesus decided to minister to followers filled with fear & doubt. If you've ever been afraid to speak up for your faith, if you've ever been timid about potential consequences, or if you've ever doubted God's power, presence, or existence — this is the message for you.
Jeff continues our series by looking at another visitation — this time with two wandering disciples on the road to Emmaus. In this passage we see these disciples as spiritually blind but we also see the revelation of Jesus. Listen in as we find three key applications from their experience, asking God to help us in the same way.
After Jesus rose from the dead, the scriptures teach us that for 40 days He met with His disciples, taught them about the Kingdom of God, and proved that He was alive (Acts 1). Listen in as Jeff starts our series with the first ‘post-resurrection' visitation. What can we learn from Jesus' interaction with Mary and how does it impact our lives today?
Join us as we celebrate Easter! The resurrection of Jesus Christ changes everything: our current circumstances, our eternal hope, and our mission on earth. Listen in as Jeff retells the beautiful story of God with His people.
At a time of rapid secularization in our culture, dropping church attendance, the tendency towards living a “remote life” and the pull to just stay home and chill, how do we up our commitment to Jesus and to the Church?
As we continue to walk through Jesus' Famous Last Words, Natalie continues on in John 17, looking at a beautiful, intentional moment where Jesus prayed to the Father on our behalf. As Jesus was nearing his death on the cross, He was thinking about you and He prayed for you.
What would it look like to experience God's glory? What would it feel like? When Jesus prayed to ‘be glorified' what do you think happened to Him? Jeff continues our series this week by looking at the longest prayer Jesus ever prayed — and how He prayed to be glorified. Listen in as we discover how God's ‘way of glory' is unlike any American Dream.
Jeff continues our series by looking at another famous “I Am” statement from John 15 when Jesus said: “I am the Vine.” Jesus promised that all the life & nourishment we need would come from him and that if we only ‘remained' and stayed connected, we would naturally grow fruit (and also be pruned, to grow more fruit!). Listen in as we discover what this passage can mean for us today.
Jesus and the Holy Spirit both act as divine advocates for us — Jesus before God the Father, and the Holy Spirit within our hearts. What does their advocacy mean in our lives?
When Jesus said, “You will do greater works because I am going to be with the Father,' did He really mean it? How many miracles can I expect to see in my life and what happens when nothing feels ‘greater'? Listen in as Jeff explores a promise from Jesus' Famous Last Words: “Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!”
Jeff starts a new series this week looking at the ‘Famous Last Words' of Jesus. In John 14-17, Jesus gathered His disciples for some final teachings before dying on the cross and inside these four chapters, we learn so much about walking with God. In today's sermon, we learn that Jesus is making a way for us to be with Him forever and that in the midst of trouble, we can trust Him… What does that mean for us today and how can we draw near to His love?
We finish our series on generosity with a panel interview from long-time members at the Vineyard. Listen in as we discover everyone's journey towards generosity, the struggles, blessings, and real-life examples from decades of following Jesus. Jesus said in Acts 20: “It is more blessed to give than to receive,” how much do we believe that and how is it demonstrated in our lives today?
Is the ‘prosperity gospel' real? Does God really bless us when we give? That feels transactional at best and manipulative and its worst. Listen in as Jeff continues our series by addressing the elephant in the room that is the prosperity gospel — the good, bad, & ugly!
How do you give when you don't have very much money? How does a surplus or growing wealth impact your generosity? In this passage Jesus blesses the poor, disciples the rich, and has an invitation for us all. Listen in as Jeff continues our series on generosity with this famous scripture from the life of Jesus.
Money follows you until the day you die — wouldn't it be weird if Jesus never talked about such an important topic? The Bible has a lot to say when it comes to money, generosity, and giving. Jeff starts this new series by talking about how ‘Love Gives & Giving Transforms.' Listen in as we discover together the blessing and spiritual battle you face when it comes to money and generosity.
Natalie continues our series by looking at the word: Work. The world has given us all the reasons to grumble and complain about our work, but when we look at the scriptures, we read about the ability to rejoice in our work. As we look to the scriptures we have a clear invitation to respond differently than the world around us. Listen in as Natalie talks about how our work can be a testimony to the world around us, demonstrating our salvation.
Jeff continues our series by looking at the word: Justice. When you hear justice what do you think about? The criminal justice system? Social justice and how it does or doesn't reflect the heart of God? Is there any part of you that wishes for ‘vigilante justice' like we see in famous Hollywood films? The Bible has a lot to say about ‘justice' and nobody demonstrates perfect justice like Jesus Christ. Listen in as we re-discover what biblical justice means and how we can partner with God today.
What happens when a Biblical word is co-opted by the agendas of our time? Perhaps no word in the last decade has been more hijacked than ‘Evangelical,' shifting from its scriptural roots to a cultural definition. Yet, this ancient term is deeply rooted in the teachings of Isaiah and Paul. Join us as we rediscover the truth of God's ‘Good News' and explore how we're called to proclaim His Kingdom today.
Jeff is kicking off the New Year with an exciting new series called Hijacked. Throughout history, many meaningful words in our faith have been misunderstood or misrepresented. This series is all about reclaiming those words and exploring their true, biblical meaning. In the first week, we're diving into the word Christian. What does it really mean to be a Christian? How is this word used in scripture? And what does it teach us about following Jesus today? Join us as we begin 2025 together and rediscover the heart of what it means to live out our faith.
Join us for our online-only service as we wrap up 2024. Jeff explores the complex relationship many of us have with spiritual disciplines. Discover how one specific practice could help prepare our hearts for God's work in our community today and in the future.
Jeff closes our ‘First Responders' series by looking to the life of Joseph. The calling on Jesus' earthly father had to be challenging but he responded with incredible faithfulness and obedience. What can we learn from the life of Joseph and how can we apply these biblical truths to our life today?
As we continue in the ‘First Responders' series, Natalie shares about Mary's response to the angel Gabriel. He tells Mary that she will become pregnant with the son of God. Listen in to hear how we can respond with great faith, like Mary, to the miraculous voice of the Lord in our own lives.
Jeff continues our ‘First Responders' series by reading a famous Christmas passage about the wisemen/magi's pursuit of Jesus. What can we learn from their life with God and how does this contrast from others in this same passage (Herod & The Priests)? Listen in as we continue to prepare our hearts for this Christmas season.
Jeff kicks off our new series ‘First Responders' by exploring how the angels of heaven responded to the news and birth of Jesus Christ. What can we learn from how these celestial beings responded to the glory and birth of Jesus? How might that impact our daily lives? Listen in as we start our Advent series together.
Jeff finishes our series by looking a particularly vulnerable moment from the ministry of Jesus. What happens when a woman who is caught in a destructive pattern of sin is brought before Jesus for punishment? How does Jesus respond? What does that mean for our lives today? Listen in as we search for the real Jesus together.
We Christians would all probably say that we love him, but how can we really know? What is the metric for that? How can I be sure?
Jeff explores Jesus' question: “Are you also going to leave?” In John 6, Jesus drew huge crowds and demonstrated the Kingdom in incredible ways (miracles, feeding the 5000, etc). But then, he delivered a message that was challenging to hear. As a result, many disciples turned away. In these tough times, how do you respond to Jesus? How can you trust in His life-giving Spirit more and more each day?
Jesus asked a lot of questions. Some rhetorical, some compassionate, and some provocative — but all of His questions are still being asked today. In John 5, Jesus asked: “Would you like to get well?” It feels like a simple answer but as we explore the passage you'll see there's more going on here than a simple healing. Listen in as we invite Jesus to keep asking us questions today.
God moves among his people. It's clear throughout scripture and modern church history. So how do we prepare for a divine encounter? How should we respond when it happens?
The Bible doesn't primarily tell a story about us escaping earth to one day go to heaven, it tells a story about God coming to earth to rescue and redeem all of creation. As Jeff kicks off our new series, “People of His Presence,” we explore various scriptures and promises about experiencing and knowing the tangible and life-changing presence of God — Listen In.
Jeff & Bryan McLees (Convoy of Hope) talk about how your ‘One Day's Wage' can change someone's ‘Everyday Life.' Listen in as we discuss our current ministry partnership in Zimbabwe, future plans of travel, and the incredible stories of what God is doing through YOUR generosity.
This week we get the pleasure of hearing from Christina Lowery, the Associate National Director of Church Health and Development for Vineyard USA. Tune is as she closes out our series, Spiritual Puberty, by talking about our call to be disciples who make disciples.
Our spiritual journey includes ups and downs, highs and lows, mountaintops and valleys. It'd be nice if we could skip the struggle and suffering and live in perfect blessing, but life often has more complexities than we realize. We can see the bigger picture by placing our hope in Jesus Christ and learning to walk with God through hardships. The truth is: there are parts of our spiritual maturity that are only developed in the midst of pain. Listen in as we continue our series on ‘Spiritual Puberty.'
God cares deeply about our souls and we can find transformation that lasts through the power, presence, and example of Jesus Christ. As a church, we are invited to join God's mission of transforming ALL things, even our own souls. Natalie will walk us through how we can find healing with the Lord in the deepest part of our being and our hope for our church to be a place where people can come with all their anxieties, stressors, and fears and leave filled with the peace of Lord.
‘Spiritual Community' remains one of the most important ingredients to a healthy and maturing life in the Lord. For centuries, Christians have gathered together to worship, pray, hear Biblical teachings, and support one another. But in today's world, distractions seem omnipresent. Listen in as we discuss the beauty of a spiritual community and the potential risk when we avoid gathering together.
The most spiritually mature people I know have this in common: they recognize their desperate and immediate need for God. God promises to bless those who are ‘poor in spirit,' but what does that mean? How can we live it out? And has it been done before? Listen in as we seek God together, praying for a deeper spiritual maturity.
Do you remember puberty? It was awkward, isolating, and… smelly. As Jeff starts this new series, we're looking at the journey from spiritual childhood to maturity and the inevitable changes we all go through. We all need to go through spiritual puberty on our way towards maturity and there are some key things to keep in mind on the way. Listen in as we kick off this new series on spiritual growth & formation.
Jeff wraps up our summer series on the minor prophets with one last ‘major lesson': The promises of healing, freedom, and joy are here for us today. Listen in as we study the last six verses of the Old Testament and prepare our hearts to experience the Sun of Righteousness together and the blessing that's hidden in His wings.
In the last book of the Old Testament (Malachi), God reaffirms His love and heart towards the people of Israel. Written like a mercy sandwich (with correction in the middle), Malachi uncovers a variety of unworthy responses from the people to a most worthy God. Listen in as we discover God's plan to lovingly correct and ‘open the windows of blessing' upon our lives.
When life gets hard, a gap grows between your present reality and your hopes and dreams. Sometimes your past looks better than your future. But God has a message of hope for the discouraged. He is near to the brokenhearted and promises a future more glorious than we can imagine!
In our spiritual lives, the painful moment when we become aware of our shortcomings often brings shame or defensiveness. How can we move from being "unconsciously incompetent" to knowing we fell short and addressing it? The book of Haggai offers a profound example of how to respond to rebuke.
The poetic book of Habakkuk closes with a beautiful song that points out three things we can do to keep our faith in the Lord, even when everything around us is feeling desolate, empty, and dry. Repetition in our spiritual life, remembering the Lord's presence and work in our lives, and rejoicing in our salvation are three things Habakkuk prioritized to live a life of faith and hope in the Lord.
Habakkuk could be summarized in three simple words: Cry, Wait, and Remember. Do you have a life with God where you can cry out and lament? Have you developed the spiritual discipline of silently waiting before God? And can you recall and remember all the great things God has done and has promised yet to do in your relationship with Him? Listen in as we discover some major lessons from this minor prophet.
As we close our month in Jonah, listen in as we explore the depths of God's mercy. God is FILLED with mercy, He loves to show you His mercy (is even arranging ways for you to experience it), and has plenty of mercy to go around — even for our enemies. How can we experience God's mercy today and do we reflect this same mercy to the world around us?
God's got this! Even when life is throwing fastballs at our heads, God is in control and at work in our lives. Trust God with your life. Don't get bitter in the difficult times. God's got this!
Jonah 2 teaches us a lot about how we can approach God, experience His rescuing nature, and respond to salvation. As we continue our series in the minor prophets, let's explore the tension and invitation from God we see from inside the belly of the fish.
Join us as we study the minor prophets during our summer preaching calendar. Today, we're starting with the book of Jonah and allowing God to show us how we might be more like Jonah than we realize. If you're running from God, caught in the storm, or sleeping on His plans for your life — it's never too late to embrace the mercy of Christ and be rescued by our Lord.
