Genesis 7–11:9Our Coaches in the Word series continues this week as Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales joins Gail Martin on Encounter with God Together.Picking up in Genesis 7–11:9, Dave digs into the story of Noah and asks what it really means to obey God when the call looks foolish to everyone watching. Along the way he reflects on why Scripture so often works through imperfect, unlikely people—and what that means for how we lead, follow, and treat those around us.It's an honest, grounded conversation about living out faith in a demanding profession. In his second season he led Carolina to an NFC South title and the team's first playoff appearance since 2017. A California native, Canales began coaching in 2004 at Carson High School, his own alma mater. He entered the NFL in 2010 with the Seattle Seahawks, spending 13 seasons there in a range of offensive roles—including wide receivers coach, quarterbacks coach, and passing game coordinator—before serving as offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023 and then taking the helm in Carolina. Beyond the field, Canales is a man of deep faith and the son of a pastor. He has been part of the NFL coaches' fellowship for over a decade, drawing on Encounter with God in his daily walk with the Lord. He and his wife, Lizzy, have four children.
Genesis 1This week on Encounter with God Together, host Gail Martin welcomes back Matt Eberflus, assistant head coach of defense for the San Francisco 49ers, for week three of our “Coaches in the Word” series. Matt shares how the NFL Coaches Fellowship has carried him through the peaks and valleys of professional sports, the colleague who first noticed Christ at work in his life, and the mentor who drew him in. Together they dig into the opening verses of Genesis, finding fresh wonder in familiar words: the joy of simply resting in the truth that God created, and a powerful picture of how the Spirit hovers over our own formless beginnings before transforming us.Following along with the Encounter with God daily Bible reading guide? A Toledo, Ohio native and former college linebacker at the University of Toledo, he brings more than three decades of coaching experience to the sidelines. He previously served as head coach of the Chicago Bears (2022–2024), defensive coordinator for both the Dallas Cowboys and the Indianapolis Colts and spent seventeen years coaching at the collegiate level before entering the NFL. Romans 14:10–15:33In this episode of Encounter with God Together, Gail Martin welcomes Chris Foerster, assistant head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, for week two of the special "Coaches in the Word" series, reflecting on Romans.Chris shares part of the origin story of the NFL coaches' fellowship—a group that began roughly 25 years ago when he, Tony Dungy, and Vikings chaplain Tom Lamphere started meeting together in Scripture using the Encounter with God daily Bible guide. His connection to this community runs deep, going all the way back to a college Bible study at Colorado State.Reflecting on this week's readings from Romans, Chris zeroes in on the call not to criticize but to stir up goodness, peace, and joy. He poses a convicting question from the devotional: Did Jesus merely tolerate us, or did he love us? That distinction, Chris says, should change how we treat everyone around us—on the field and off.Chris gets personal about what a life of service looks like in the high-pressure world of the NFL, how Tony Dungy's teaching-first philosophy shaped his coaching career, and why he believes we're blessed in order to bless others.
The apostles' keep preaching the same message; of Jesus crucified at the hands of sinful men and then raised to life for their salvation by faith. Their witness of believing the gospel message they are teaching is impacting their entire community, and it's challenging many of the people who feel threatened by it. Christians today are to remember their allegiance and obedience to the Lord comes above all others.
Families are designed by God to worship God together. Sermon 19:55
Pastor teaches his family a selection from "the Proverb of the day." In these six verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that true strength is in the Lord alone, but is not sought alone, because the Lord's means for our faith include a multitude of counselors. The devotional unfolds the profound truth that true strength in the Christian life comes not from self-reliance but from fearing the Lord. Every believer, is engaged in a spiritual warfare requiring God's grace rather than human effort. The central message is that wisdom—the lived-out fear of the Lord—is the only source of true strength. In the church, Christ has given a vital network of counselors, where believers are built up through shared faith, Scripture, and the Spirit, fostering a life marked by praise, thanksgiving, and steadfastness. But watch out for the fool, who counsels scheming because scoffingly impressed with his own ideas.
Alejandro grew up as an orphan at Project Mexico — now he's returned as a husband, alongside his wife Evangeline, to serve the very community that shaped him. In this episode, the newlyweds share what it's like to begin their marriage not in comfort, but in calling — living on the ranch at St. Innocent Orphanage, pouring themselves out for infants, toddlers, and boys who need a glimpse of what love really looks like. From Evangeline's tender and challenging work with the babies at Casa Cuna San Felipe to Alejandro's daily life alongside the niños, their story is one of humility, joy, and choosing to trust God again and again. Together, they're discovering that marriage isn't just a relationship — it's a witness. And in a place where so many children have never seen a healthy, loving home, that witness matters more than words. Tune in for a beautiful conversation about sacrificial love, faith stretched thin and made stronger, and what it means to let God write the first chapter of your life together.

The Jerusalem Council seeks God together amid disagreement, listening carefully to Scripture, testimony, and one another. Their conclusion—“It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us”—reveals that discerning God's will is often a patient, communal process shaped by God's Word rather than individual certainty. This week, practice discerning God's direction by slowing down, engaging Scripture, and inviting trusted believers into the process rather than rushing to conclusions alone.
Pastor Jeff Edwards spoke about how to seek God. How do we do it? We looked into ancient history to get some practical advice from good king Jehoshaphat. Jeff used 2 Chronicles 17:1-9 as his scripture.

Part 2 of this sermon centers on the biblical call to unity in the church, emphasizing that true unity is not mere agreement but a disciplined, Spirit-led commitment to speak truth, wisdom, and edification. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 1:10, it unfolds three dimensions of unity: verbal agreement grounded in sound doctrine, practical harmony marked by the absence of division, and productive cohesion symbolized by a mended net that retains souls. Pastor Friesen insists that Christian speech must be truthful, objective, and scriptural—free from worldly wisdom, manipulation, or gossip—while always aiming to build up others rather than tear them down. He warns against the dangers of slander, hypocrisy, and worldly influence, urging believers to speak with integrity, humility, and boldness, trusting God's sovereignty even amid opposition. Ultimately, the message calls the church to be a blameless, light-bearing community, united in purpose and spirit, so that the gospel may be effectively proclaimed and lives transformed.
What frees a soul to worship deeply? In this episode of Light + Truth, John Piper draws a line from grace to joy, from guilt to praise.
The sermon centers on the urgent call to biblical unity within the local church, grounded in the authority and character of Jesus Christ, as emphasized in 1 Corinthians 1:10. It argues that true unity is not a mere social harmony but a spiritual oneness rooted in shared faith, doctrine, and submission to Christ as Lord, Savior, and Messiah, which is essential for the church's witness and glorification of God. Pastor Friesen warns against carnal divisions driven by pride and self-glory, distinguishing them from necessary doctrinal divisions that uphold truth, and stresses that the local church—bound by Scripture, shared convictions, and accountability—is the only viable context for such unity. He underscores that this unity is not optional but vital for spiritual effectiveness, protection from corruption, and the preservation of a legacy that endures beyond the present generation, calling believers to repent of gossip, contention, and pride, and to embrace Christ-centered oneness in mind, speech, and purpose.
As we continue learning how to tune ourselves to God's voice, we also grow in discerning what is true. When it comes to our decisions, beliefs, and purpose, we need to rely on Scripture, the Holy Spirit, and our community for discernment. Listen as Pastor Amy and Pastor Brent explore what Godly discernment looks like in everyday life.

24/08/2025 Gospel Sermon on: Mark 3 : 22 - 35 22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, "He has Beelzebub," and, "By the ruler of the demons He casts out demons." 23 So He called them to Himself and said to them in parables: "How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end. 27 No one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house. 28 "Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; 29 but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation"-- 30 because they said, "He has an unclean spirit." 31 Then His brothers and His mother came, and standing outside they sent to Him, calling Him. 32 And a multitude was sitting around Him; and they said to Him, "Look, Your mother and Your brothers are outside seeking You." 33 But He answered them, saying, "Who is My mother, or My brothers?" 34 And He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers! 35 For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother." Glory be to God forever.

As the Body of Christ, we actively participate in God's work through every conversation and act of service. The encouraging truth? You don't figure this out alone—who you become is shaped by who we become together, discovering both the freedom of belonging and the joy of becoming who God created you to be.
In Acts 15, the church faced a crisis: was faith in Jesus enough, or did Gentile believers also need to keep the Mosaic Law? Revival had spread so quickly that leaders struggled to keep pace. Some insisted, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved” (Acts 15:1, NASB 2020). Paul and Barnabas strongly disagreed, which led to a gathering of apostles, elders, and even opposing voices in Jerusalem. Peter testified that God had chosen […] The post Hearing God Together appeared first on Revival Life Church Boca Raton, FL.

Today, on Day 149 of our journey, Hunter invites us to walk together through the wisdom-filled chapters of Proverbs 7–9 and explore the deep truths of Romans 9. As we turn the pages, we'll hear wisdom's call, reflect on the contrast between choosing God's ways versus straying paths, and wrestle with the profound mysteries of God's mercy and grace. Through prayer and heartfelt reflection, Hunter reminds us that the heart of wisdom is trusting in God and embracing our identity as beloved children of a good and noble Father. Whether summer sunshine is lighting up your world or you're seeking a ray of hope, settle in and let the scriptures direct your heart today—because here, you are always loved, full stop. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Wisdom has a secret, and the secret is to trust in God. We are reminded today not to exclude God and simply rely on our own understanding, but to lean on Him. The writer of Proverbs addresses us as children, calling us into a relationship with God that is like family. The wisdom of God isn't merely a set of rules or memorized dictates—it's something we experience within a loving relationship with the Creator. He invites us to know Him, to be known by Him, to enter into conversation, to walk as His sons and daughters. Anyone who trusts in Him will never be disgraced. There's much I don't understand—about God, about my own heart—but the lesson that comes again and again is that I can trust Him. His purposes toward us are always good, and He's always working for our best. Sometimes, pride and self-sufficiency creep in, and I start to think and act more like an employee than a beloved child. Entitlement, ingratitude, distance enter my heart. But the voice of Wisdom calls even louder to us in those moments, like a good Father, shepherding us away from destruction, drawing us toward life. That's why I come to the Word each day, together with you—not to pile up information, but to let the Father draw me into His life and His joy. To accept the invitation of Wisdom is to see ourselves as God sees us, His children, drawn into relationship by grace alone, not by anything we've done. And this love, this grace, it's not limited or exclusive—it's God's welcome extended to every human being, right where we are. When we trust in Him, we discover grace. We are enfolded in His kindness, made alive and joyful in His love. And so I pray this for my own soul, for my family—my wife, my daughters, my son—and I pray it for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Gracious and everlasting God, you have brought us through the shadow of night into the promise of a new day. You go before us with your mercy, sustain us by your grace, and keep us from wandering paths of fear or pride. Let every word we speak and every step we take be formed by the goodness of Christ. Oh, Lord, gather your people far and near. May every tribe and tongue come to know your peace. Let justice roll like a river and healing flow where there has been division. Pour out your spirit upon all flesh, and bring us closer to the day when your kingdom comes in fullness through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. And now as our Lord has taught us, we are bold to pray: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever and ever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen.
