In this episode, we journey through Acts chapter 14, following Paul and Barnabas as they face rejection and persecution in Antioch. Despite the jealousy of the Jews and opposition from Roman leaders, the apostles remain steadfast, shaking the dust off their feet and pressing on to Iconium—85 miles away—to boldly preach the Gospel. The Kingdom of God: Miracles, Signs, and Wonders Today explores whether supernatural healing, prophecy, and other spiritual gifts continue in our time. This powerful teaching examines Jesus' ministry pattern of combining authoritative teaching with supernatural demonstrations of power. Looking at passages from Matthew, Mark, and 1 Corinthians, we discover that Jesus consistently validated His message through healing the sick, casting out demons, and performing miracles as testimonies that the kingdom had arrived. The teaching addresses common questions: Have miraculous gifts ceased? Is healing based on faith or compassion? What is the biblical pattern for ministry today? Through examination of Scripture and contemporary testimonies of divine healing, supernatural knowledge, and miraculous interventions, we see compelling evidence that God's power remains available to believers. Paul's approach to ministry wasn't based on eloquent speech but on demonstration of the Spirit's power. This message challenges believers to step beyond theological limitations and unbelief to participate in demonstrating God's kingdom through the power of the Holy Spirit. Perfect for those questioning whether God still performs miracles, those seeking biblical foundation for supernatural ministry, or anyone wanting to see the kingdom demonstrated with power in their everyday life. Discover how ordinary believers can participate in extraordinary demonstrations of God's power today. This sermon was recorded at a Sunday morning gathering at Church of the Lookout in Longmont, Colorado.Visit our websiteFollow us on FacebookFollow us on Instagram
Pastor Tyrone Reid continues our series on signs and wonders by looking at the book of Acts.
Spiritual gifts are special abilities God gives believers to build up the church, coming as spontaneous manifestations, enduring abilities, or vocational roles. True discernment requires knowing Scripture thoroughly, as genuine gifts always align with God's Word. While Mark 16 mentions signs following believers, these apply corporately to the church rather than to every individual. Christians should recognize that spiritual warfare is real, though we often blame demons for our own issues. God's miraculous power continues today, though we may not always understand why some prayers for healing go unanswered.Support the show

Dr. Ray interviews Dr. Chris McCall, senior pastor of Destiny Church in Gulfport, Mississippi, about this issue and why we are not experiencing miracles as they were in the book of Acts. What is the answer? What does God want us to do? This is a very interesting podcast that everyone should listen to and consider. In this message, we wrestle with the mystery of healing, explore the role of spiritual gifts, and consider how God might be working uniquely in our cultural moment—bringing emotional and spiritual healing in deep, transformative ways. Scripture References: Matthew 4:23-25; Luke 9:1-2; Luke 10:1-9, 17; Matthew 28:18-20Introduction: Welcome to this week's sermon! Today, we hear from guest speaker Scott, who served with his family in North India for over 20 years. Scott shares his personal journey from a background skeptical of supernatural gifts to embracing the power of the Holy Spirit in evangelism. He begins with his own testimony: finding purpose and joy in Christ at 17 after a period of loneliness and depression, sparking a passion to share Jesus. He challenges us: do you have a story?Key Points:Early Encounters: Despite a conservative background, Scott soon experienced God's voice and words of knowledge for strangers, leading to ministry. This sparked his passion for evangelism.Missions & Need for Power: Called to India's unreached, training highlighted "Church Planting Movements" fueled by "signs and wonders." Initially hesitant, Scott saw the need.Power of Demonstration: A key moment: praying for a sick child whose mother had heard the gospel message repeatedly without response. After the child's miraculous healing, the mother declared, "I know your God is powerful," and followed Jesus. Proclamation plus demonstration was key. (80-90% of local conversions involved supernatural encounters).Biblical Mandate for All: Scripture shows this power isn't limited: Jesus proclaimed, healed, delivered (Matt 4).He gave the 12 authority to do the same (Luke 9).He sent the 72 with the same commission (Luke 10) – not just apostles. The Great Commission (Matt 28) gives all disciples authority, empowered by the Spirit, to teach obedience to all Jesus commanded.Stepping Out Everywhere: Scott saw God work through prayer for healing/needs in India, the US, and the UK – proving it's not just for "over there." God works powerfully through willing believers anywhere. The fields are ripe here. Conclusion: Jesus commissions all His followers to both proclaim the gospel message and demonstrate its power through healing, deliverance, and other gifts of the Spirit. This isn't just for missionaries or pastors; it's for you and me, empowered by the Holy Spirit. People in our communities are hurting and waiting for an encounter with God's love and power. God is ready to work through ordinary believers who are willing to step out in faith.Call to Action: Let's respond to this message. Are you feeling stirred towards greater boldness, a call to take risks for the Kingdom? Ask God for compassion that overcomes fear. Pray for eyes to see the needs He wants you to meet and the people He wants you to engage. Ask for discernment. This week, intentionally look for an opportunity to share about Jesus and an opportunity to pray for someone's need, expecting God to move. Trust that He is with you and wants to demonstrate His power through you. Holy Spirit, come upon us with boldness! Support the show*Summaries and transcripts are generated using AI. (4:25) Bible Study: John 4:43-54 What is Jesus saying about signs and wonders? To understand this you have to back to the first chapter of John. John the Baptist testifies that Jesus is the Messiah and John is not. This helps us understand why the Gospels were written. The story of Christ at the time was well know. The ancients trusted the spoken word more than the written word. Who is the “you” whom the human author wanted to reach with this? The “you” who John was writing to were the followers of John the Baptist. John the Beloved puts the story of the cleansing of he Temple at the beginning of his Gospel because of who he was writing to. (22:28) Break 1 (27:37) Letters: Does Church Law requiring reception of sacrament of penance apply if there are no mortal sins to be confessed? (37:27) Break 2 (37:56) Word of the Day “new heavens and a new earth” Phones: (41:21) Susan - When I go into shops, I always have Holy Water on me, and when I go into these stores, I put Holy Water on some of the stuff and that's how I deal? (43:23) Suzanne - Divorce; When a couple divorce, and they have children and then they remarry and then they have a child, with their 2nd spouse. How will God see that?
