Without the Footnotes provides a gateway to a difficult history in a non-academic way through taking Holocaust and genocide education out of its usual institutional settings and into community spaces, offering informed education in informal environments...without the footnotes!
In this special episode I speak with photographer Sam Churchill. We discuss Sam's experiences with survivor Arek Hersh and how he uses photography as a way to bear witness to his testimony. Sam has worked as a professional photographer for 10 years and has had images printed in The Times, The Guardian, various international publications, and even a first class stamp! Since 2015 Sam has worked on a project to document the return of Holocaust survivors to Poland and Germany in their final years, motivated by his family's personal connection to the Holocaust.
