The city and several community organizations are launching clean-up efforts, street upgrades and art projects to beautify downtown and nearby areas in advance of the NCAA tournament in March. Similar beautification efforts have accompanied other big events, including the Super Bowl and past NCAA Final Fours, but this year is different. Downtown still shows signs of the violence that spilled over from racial protests last May and the pandemic has left more storefronts and restaurant spaces empty. So host Mason King talks with Downtown Indy Inc.'s Bob Schultz, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful's Jeremy Kranowitz and the Arts Council of Indianapolis' Julie Goodman about the projects and cleanups they have planned. To learn more, read IBJ reporter Mickey Shuey's story about beautifying downtown and then read about the grant the Lilly Endowment is making fuel the efforts.
It's Episode 400 of Virtual Legality! Today we look at a question some have asked in the wake of the "chain letter" like "Community" posts popping up all over YouTube (including on this very channel), designed around exposing a potential weighting problem in the YouTube algorithm as identified by YouTuber - The Spiffing Brit. But do YouTubers who advance such a post have anything to worry about under the law? Let's dive in. We might just have to add "spiffing" to our vocabulary...in Virtual Legality. Very recently we had the pleasure of meeting the only time travelers we know... They happened to be English and turned out to be, much to our own pleasure, all around spiffing chaps! In this podcast with the great Morgan and West we discuss: - Why Morgan and West prefer to perform children’s shows (and would ONLY perform for children if they could) - Why Morgan and West hate to perform close up magic (and almost NEVER do it) - How Terry Pratchett books inspired their current stage persona (Benji was dying to talk about this with them— and it showed)- The incredible success of their recent book, Parlour Tricks (and what makes it COMPLETELY different from most magic books)-And much, much more!
Well, it had to happen at some point. William Barr from Billygoat Entertainment in Belfast is our week 13 guest, and our first guest to just troll Luke and Kaley the entire episode. Despite his resistance to answering a single question, William is a delightful guest who shares his insights gained from his decade plus in the games industry. During his time, he led the team that created Her Majesty's Spiffing and Supermarket Shriek. As usual, Kaley tries to create a spin-off podcast with the guest and we cover Luke's resistance to all things scary.
An absolute treat this week as we are joined by The Spiffing Brit for what is undoubtedly the most ambitious game ever pitched on this show! Ever had a great idea for a game? Us, too. Luckily, we also have a room full of devs to tell us why it wouldn't work. Let's see how this goes. Follow us: @ptchplspod Pitch, Please is a Yogscast Games podcast.

William’s love of videogames and animation from a young age led him to set up the company in 2010. Billygoat have gone on to build games including adventure-led empire-inspired Her Majesty’s Spiffing and are currently developing Supermarket Shriek in which a boy and his goat traverse a supermarket. In this interview, we heard about William’s journey from boy to startup to an award-winning games company and the challenges of setting up shop in the games industry. We asked him about the inspiration behind Billygoat’s games, being a socially awkward networker, the joy of joyless living and the thing he is looking forward to the most at the Games Development Conference in San Francisco - biting into a juicy Impossible Burger.

In part 1 we talk about some of the films that have been out since last year which we really should have got round to reviewing. In part 2 we visit the Trailer Park and talk about Pacific Rim.
