Kayla, with an Honours degree in Criminology from the University of Ottawa, felt the urge to do more for the black community in Montreal during a time of social justice, equality, and inclusivity. She created a platform on facebook called Black Business Atlas- Building our Community in June 2020, following the social uprising caused by the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breanna Taylor and George Floyd. This platform has grown tremendously and is now a group to allow members to exchange on various topics ranging from current events to cultural issues. This led to Kayla founding BBA which although is in the early stages of its life as an operating company, Kayla has big dreams for the business and she hopes to extend its reach to a national and eventually international level.
