This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! Most of the locations we investigate on The Grave Talks have long since been abandoned, their histories sealed behind broken windows and rusted locks. Kentucky State Penitentiary is the exception. Nicknamed the “Castle on the Cumberland,” this sprawling stone fortress has held prisoners—living and, witnesses claim, otherwise—since 1886. In this episode we step inside an institution that still houses Kentucky's death-row inmates and its active execution chamber, then listen to the stories of guards, wardens, chaplains, and former prisoners who insist they've felt a presence no security camera can capture. Cold drafts linger in rooms with no vents. Footsteps echo along deserted tiers. Voices call out names no longer on the roster. Is it the weight of history pressing on every block—or something determined never to leave? Join us as we explore a place where time, and perhaps the dead, continue to keep watch. In this episode Hazel talks about the concept of the "golden trap," a feeling of entrapment that many experience despite achieving societal milestones such as home ownership, stable jobs, and family life. KEY TAKEAWAYS Understanding the Golden Trap: Many individuals reach a point in life where, despite achieving societal milestones (like a stable job, home, and family), they feel a sense of entrapment and unfulfillment, referred to as the "golden trap." Awareness is the First Step: Recognizing feelings of dissatisfaction and entrapment is crucial. Acknowledging these emotions allows individuals to assess their current situation and consider whether they want to continue feeling this way. The Illusion of the Golden Cage: The feeling of being trapped is often an illusion. There is a metaphorical door that can be opened, symbolizing the ability to change one's perspective and circumstances. Gratitude and Future Focus: Emphasizing gratitude for what one has while actively seeking ways to feel freer and more fulfilled can lead to a more satisfying life experience. The journey towards change is ongoing and requires commitment to personal growth. BEST MOMENTS"What I can share with you about this feeling of the golden trap is that you've reached a point in your life perhaps where you have the home, you have the family, you have decent job... and yet I feel trapped." "The first step to making any sort of change in your life is to become aware of what's not right, to become aware of that feeling or those thoughts in your mind." "In reality, this golden trap, this golden cage that many people experience at midlife is a bit of an illusion because in that golden cage, there is a door." "All you've got to do is acknowledge and realise that you are the one who has remained caged and kept yourself feeling trapped." In this weeks episode, we explore the concept of freedom, Hazel shares her personal experiences and insights on how freedom is not a destination to be achieved but a state of being that comes from within. KEY TAKEAWAYS Freedom is a State of Being: Freedom is not something to be achieved or obtained; it is a state of being that comes from within. It cannot be given by others or tied to external circumstances. Layers of Freedom: The journey to understanding freedom involves recognizing different layers, such as financial freedom, and then moving deeper to understand personal freedom that comes from self-awareness and authenticity. Letting Go of Conditioning: To experience true freedom, one must let go of societal conditioning, expectations, and the "shoulds" that dictate behavior. This involves embracing one's true self and desires. Emotional State Influences Experience: How one feels directly impacts their state of being. Tapping into positive emotions and heart-centered living can lead to a greater sense of freedom and fulfillment. Acceptance of Life's Circumstances: Accepting life as it is, rather than how one thinks it should be, allows for a deeper sense of freedom. This acceptance helps navigate life's challenges without being overwhelmed by anxiety or external pressures. BEST MOMENTS"Freedom is not something that you can achieve. It's not something that you can obtain. It is not a thing." "When I became financially free, it was an amazing feeling... but the reality was that I still had all these feelings, behaviors, patterns, thoughts, which were running me." "The more you can just be yourself and enjoy your life and let go of the stories... the more you are freeing yourself to be yourself." "If you can capture the essence of what it is that you're after... then you're just living in the prescripted patterns that the conditioning you've experienced is dictating to you." KEY TAKEAWAYS Childhood Experiences Shape Financial Perspectives: Early experiences with money, whether through scarcity or abundance, significantly influence one's attitudes and behaviors towards wealth in adulthood. Resilience and Determination: Adversity in childhood, such as financial struggles, can foster resilience and a strong desire to succeed, motivating individuals to create a better life for themselves and their families. The Impact of Social Environment: Experiences like being on free school meals can lead to feelings of embarrassment and social challenges, highlighting the importance of understanding how social dynamics affect self-esteem and motivation. Encouragement for Reflection: Listeners are invited to reflect on their own childhood experiences with money and how these have shaped their current financial mindset and life choices, fostering a community dialogue on the topic. I'm going to do well." "A lot of entrepreneurial spirit, I believe, is born out of adversity in your younger years." "What it was about was creating a richer experience of life." She discusses the importance of getting out of your own way and challenges listeners to consider what might be holding them back in their own lives. Introducing the GROW model, she outlines four key steps: Gratitude, Realizations, Openness, and Wins. KEY TAKEAWAYS Get Out of Your Own Way: The importance of overcoming personal barriers and fears that hold you back from pursuing your goals and sharing your message with a wider audience. GROW Model: A four-step framework to facilitate personal growth: Gratitude: Shift your mindset from fear to gratitude to change your emotional state. Realizations: Gain insights about your journey and recognize how past experiences shape your current path. Open: Embrace openness to allow opportunities to flow into your life. BEST MOMENTS"I realized something during that week that had been holding me back." "What if you literally got out of your own way? In this episode, Hazel looks into the crucial topic of financial responsibility, emphasizing the importance of being aware of personal finances in today's economic climate. Discussing the significance of monitoring income and expenses, understanding credit scores, and making informed decisions about savings and investments. KEY TAKEAWAYS Financial Awareness: It's crucial to monitor your income and expenses closely. Regularly check bank statements for unusual payments or unnecessary subscriptions to avoid wasting money. Credit Score Importance: Understanding and managing your credit score is vital for borrowing money responsibly. A good credit score opens up opportunities for better financial options. Education on Financial Management: There is a significant gap in financial education, particularly in public schooling. Many young people enter adulthood without a clear understanding of debt, credit, and financial responsibility. Shift from Old Paradigms: The traditional approach to financial success—studying hard, working for decades, and saving for retirement—may not be effective anymore. A new paradigm focuses on learning skills, finding passions, and leveraging investments for wealth creation. Creating Passive Income: Learning to manage and invest money wisely can lead to passive income streams. This approach allows individuals to retire early and enjoy life while their money works for them. BEST MOMENTS"It's extremely important to have the ability to be financially responsible." "How can our governments and financial institutions expect people to be responsible with their money when, quite frankly, they are not?" "Young people are typically thrown a credit card at the age of 18... all of which set them up in what I call this loop of debt." "The old paradigm... is rubbish, right? In this episode of The Wealth Whisperer, Hazel embarks on a passionate exploration of the complexities of our debt-based monetary system. With a focus on how money is created through loans and the implications of fractional reserve banking, the discussion highlights the pervasive nature of debt in our society and its impact on individuals and economies alike. KEY TAKEAWAYS Debt-Based Economy: The modern monetary system is primarily based on debt, where a significant portion of the money supply is created through loans. This reliance on debt is essential for economic growth and stability. Economic Growth and Debt: Continuous economic growth is necessary to service existing debts. If the economy stagnates or contracts, it can lead to difficulties in repaying debts, resulting in financial instability. Wage Slavery Concept: Many individuals are trapped in a cycle of "wage slavery," where they must work to earn money to pay off debts for things they cannot afford without borrowing. This creates a loop of dependency on debt. Critique of the Banking System: The current banking system is viewed as fraudulent, as it allows banks to create money out of nothing while individuals face legal consequences for attempting to do the same. This disparity raises questions about the fairness of the financial system. BEST MOMENTS"In my opinion, there are nowhere near enough people who understand how our monetary system works in the world." "A debt-based economy basically means that a significant portion of the money supply is actually created through loans and debt." "We are literally economic slaves because we have to earn money to be able to afford to buy things." "If you or I try to print money and use it to pay for things, it wouldn't be too long before we are put behind bars." In this weeks episode Hazel concludes a mini-series on financial calculations by focusing on the concept of return on equity (ROE). Unlike return on investment (ROI), which measures the profitability of a specific investment at the time of purchase, ROE assesses how effectively an asset generates profit over time based on the equity held. KEY TAKEAWAYS Understanding Return on Equity (ROE): Unlike Return on Investment (ROI), which measures the profitability of a specific investment at the time of purchase, Return on Equity assesses how effectively an asset generates profit over time based on the equity held in it. Evaluating Personal Assets: It's important to assess the equity in personal assets, such as property or savings accounts, to understand how well they are performing. This includes considering cash flow from rental properties or interest from savings. Home Equity Considerations: While many view their home as an asset, it typically does not generate income unless utilised in specific ways (e.g., renting out a room). Therefore, the return on equity from a primary residence is often zero. Regular Portfolio Assessment: Regularly reviewing the performance of your investments and equity is crucial. For example, a property that once had a high return on equity may underperform over time, necessitating a reevaluation of whether to keep or sell it. BEST MOMENTS"It's really important to understand the numbers and to understand the maths around how your money's working for you quite frankly." "Most people don't own... any sort of level of return on that equity in their own home. It's a big fat zero when it comes to a return on equity from your own home equity." "You have to be really careful... if you're going to consider releasing any equity from your own home, because this is obviously going to cost you more money." Our writer Ophira Gottlieb tells the story of the Britannia Coconut Dancers of Bacup, in Lancashire. For over a century the troupe of morris dancers has performed up and down the town's streets dressed in knitted jumpers, candy-striped kilts, and painted completely black. “I worked in a pub just outside Manchester,” Ophira remembers, “many of the customers felt the practice was racist and badly outdated, but just as many disagreed.” On Easter weekend, Ophira finally met these dancers. Nicknamed the “Coconutters”, Ophira set out to understand why they hold a practice that many find so offensive so close to their hearts. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Full Text of ReadingsThursday in the Octave of Easter Lectionary: 264The Saint of the day is Saint Fidelis of SigmaringenSaint Fidelis of Sigmaringen's Story If a poor man needed some clothing, Fidelis would often give the man the clothes right off his back. Complete generosity to others characterized this saint's life. Born in 1577, Mark Rey became a lawyer who constantly upheld the causes of the poor and oppressed people. Nicknamed “the poor man's lawyer,” Rey soon grew disgusted with the corruption and injustice he saw among his colleagues. He left his law career to become a priest, joining his brother George as a member of the Capuchin Order. Fidelis was his religious name. His wealth was divided between needy seminarians and the poor. As a follower of Saint Francis of Assisi, Fidelis continued his devotion to the weak and needy. During a severe epidemic in a city where he was guardian of a friary, Fidelis cared for and cured many sick soldiers. He was appointed head of a group of Capuchins sent to preach against the Calvinists and Zwinglians in Switzerland. Almost certain violence threatened. Those who observed the mission felt that success was more attributable to the prayer of Fidelis during the night than to his sermons and instructions. He was accused of opposing the peasants' national aspirations for independence from Austria. While he was preaching at Seewis, to which he had gone against the advice of his friends, a gun was fired at him, but he escaped unharmed. A Protestant offered to shelter Fidelis, but he declined, saying his life was in God's hands. On the road back, he was set upon by a group of armed men and killed. Fidelis was canonized in 1746. Fifteen years later he was recognized as a martyr. Reflection Fidelis' constant prayer was that he be kept completely faithful to God and not give in to any lukewarmness or apathy. He was often heard to exclaim, “Woe to me if I should prove myself but a halfhearted soldier in the service of my thorn-crowned Captain.” His prayer against apathy, and his concern for the poor and weak make him a saint whose example is valuable today. The modern Church is calling us to follow the example of “the poor man's lawyer” by sharing ourselves and our talents with those less fortunate and by working for justice in the world. In this episode of the podcast, Hazel delves into the essential financial calculations needed to assess property investments, focusing on the concept of whether a property will "wash its face." This term refers to determining if the rental income can cover the property's expenses, including mortgage payments. KEY TAKEAWAYS Understanding Cash Flow: It's crucial for property investors to ensure that a property can "wash its face," meaning the rental income should cover the mortgage payments and other expenses, providing a cushion for unforeseen circumstances. Basic Calculation Formula: To determine if a property is financially viable, start with the property value, calculate the mortgage amount (75% loan-to-value), and then assess the annual and monthly mortgage payments based on the interest rate. This helps in evaluating whether the rental income meets the lender's coverage requirements. Reverse Calculation Method: By starting with the expected rental income, investors can determine the maximum property value they can afford. This involves dividing the rent by the lender's rental coverage rate, converting it to an annual figure, and then calculating the maximum mortgage and property value. Market Awareness: Investors should be aware that property values can fluctuate. Having a solid cash flow can provide security during market downturns, as demonstrated by experiences during the 2008 credit crunch. BEST MOMENTS"The term wash its face is commonly used in the property industry to describe whether a property will look after itself in the context of the amount of rent coming in versus the amount of expenses going out." "You need that cushion so that you can be kind of considering that this property is going to be safe for you." "If the property increases over time in value and you don't change the mortgage, then the mortgage loan to value will become less than 75%." On the morning of August 26, 1986, a cyclist in New York's Central Park discovered the body eighteen-year-old Jennifer Levin. Among other things, Levin had been strangled, there were superficial injuries on her face, and her shirt was pulled up. Later, the medical examiner reported that Jennifer had died only about an hour before she was discovered. It didn't take long for investigators to find Levin's assailant, after several patrons at a nearby bar reported seeing her with a man the night before. That man turned out to be nineteen-year-old Robert Chambers Jr., a privileged members of New York's Upper East Side high society. At first, Chambers denied having anything to do with the murder, but soon changed his story and claimed Levin had died during consensual “rough sex” initiated by Levin herself.Nicknamed the “The Preppy Killer” by the press, a reference to his good looks and obvious privilege, Chambers' trial became a media circus. Over the course of more than a year, people around the country watched as the defense tried—and with the help of the press, succeeded—to put the responsibility for Levin's murder on the victim, emphasizing her sexual history and manner of dress, among other things. In todays episode Hazel guides between yield and true rate of return in property investment. Hazel uses a straightforward example to illustrate how to calculate yield based on rental income and property value, highlighting that while a high yield can indicate good cash flow. KEY TAKEAWAYS Understanding Yield vs. True Rate of Return: Yield is calculated as the total gross rental income divided by the property value, while the true rate of return considers the actual cash flow relative to the money invested in the property, providing a more accurate picture of investment performance. Example Calculation: For a property worth £150,000 generating £900 monthly rent, the yield is 7.2%. However, after accounting for mortgage costs, management fees, and other expenses, the true rate of return can be calculated, which in this example is 8.4%. Importance of Cash Flow: A strong cash flow and true rate of return are crucial for property investors, as they provide a buffer against market fluctuations and ensure that investments remain profitable even during downturns. Investment Strategy: Aiming for a true rate of return of at least 8% is recommended, as this offers a better alternative to traditional savings accounts, which may not keep pace with inflation. BEST MOMENTS "Knowing and understanding the difference between the yield of a property and the actual true rate of return is absolutely vital." "The true rate of return will give you a much truer picture of what your investment is going to produce for you." "My golden rule of thumb is to be making at least 8% true rate of return if you're going to go into a deal like this." "If you have a decent level of cash flow and therefore true rate of return, it doesn't matter what happens to the market." "The main advantage of buying a property is that it has the potential to increase significantly in value over time." Hazel delves into the essential topic of understanding financial terminology, specifically focusing on return on investment (ROI) and return on time invested (ROTI). The importance of being financially educated, especially since these concepts are often not taught in schools KEY TAKEAWAYS Understanding Financial Terminology: It's crucial to learn and understand financial terms like return on investment (ROI) and return on time invested (ROTI) to take ownership of your financial decisions and empower yourself in managing money. Importance of ROI: ROI is a basic calculation that measures the profitability of an investment. For example, depositing £10,000 in a high-interest bank account at 5.5% yields £550 annually, while higher returns (12%, 15%, or 20%) can significantly increase earnings. Compounding and Starting Small: You can start investing with smaller amounts, such as £20 or £50 a month, and benefit from the power of compounding over time, which can lead to substantial growth in your investment portfolio. Evaluating Time Investment: When considering investments, it's essential to factor in the value of your time (ROTI). For instance, if you spend 30 hours on a property deal and value your time at £20 an hour, that adds £600 to your costs, impacting your overall profitability. BEST MOMENTS"After all, this is a show all about becoming wealthy, not just in the financial sense." "It's absolutely crucial that you do learn and refine this part of your knowledge until you know it inside out if you are serious about becoming wealthy." "One factor that people tend to miss out of the equation... is the return on the time that they invest into completing a deal." "If you were able to generate more like 12% a year or 15 or even 20% a year return on investment, then obviously this is much better." Drawing from personal experiences in property coaching and her own financial journey, she emphasizes the importance of applying SWOT analysis not just in business contexts but also in our personal lives. KEY TAKEAWAYS Understanding SWOT Analysis: SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. It is a valuable tool not only for businesses but also for personal development and life planning. Personal Application: Conducting a SWOT analysis on your own life can provide insights into your current situation, helping you identify areas for improvement and leverage your strengths and opportunities. Identifying Strengths and Weaknesses: Recognizing your strengths allows you to capitalize on them, while acknowledging weaknesses helps you find ways to mitigate risks or outsource tasks that you do not enjoy or excel at. Opportunities and Threats: Being aware of opportunities can guide you toward growth and financial freedom, while understanding potential threats, such as market changes or personal responsibilities, can help you make informed decisions. Actionable Insights: After completing a SWOT analysis, it’s important to determine your number one action or learning. This could involve outsourcing tasks you dislike or exploring new financial strategies to enhance your sense of freedom and efficiency in life. BEST MOMENTS"The S stands for strengths. The W stands for weaknesses. The O for opportunities and the T for threats." "When you can see your situation from different perspectives, it can actually help you to improve certain areas of your life." "It's always good to know and to see where you can make those changes to affect even more of that sense of freedom." "I can also sometimes get distracted when I'm in the middle of a task. David Vetter died at age twelve after spending his entire life in a bubble. Nicknamed “The Bubble Boy,” David was born with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID). His parents had lost their first son to the disease and were determined to protect their second-born. To prolong his life, NASA engineers designed a plastic protection bubble as well as a spacesuit so his parents could hold David in the outside world. Oh, how we all long to protect those we love! King David was wronged by Nabal, the foolish husband of Abigail. In a rogue moment, David sought revenge by his own hands. Abigail rushed to meet him with a wise reminder, “Even though someone is pursuing you to take your life, the life of my lord will be bound securely in the bundle of the living by the Lord your God” (1 Samuel 25:29). The concept of “bundle” conveys the idea of gathering up valuable items so the owner can protectively carry them. Abigail reminded David that God wanted to carry him in a protective bundle. He was safest in God’s hands, rather than in his own. “My lord will not have on his conscience the staggering burden of needless bloodshed or having avenged himself” (v. 31). We do well to work to protect others when they need it, but it’s only in God’s perfect care that they’re truly safe.

fWotD Episode 2797: Minneapolis Welcome to Featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia’s finest articles. The featured article for Tuesday, 31 December 2024 is Minneapolis.Minneapolis is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States, and its county seat. With a population of 429,954, it is the state's most populous city as of the 2020 census. Located in the state's center near the eastern border, it occupies both banks of the Upper Mississippi River and adjoins Saint Paul, the state capital of Minnesota. Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and the surrounding area are collectively known as the Twin Cities, a metropolitan area with 3.69 million residents. Minneapolis is built on an artesian aquifer on flat terrain and is known for cold, snowy winters and hot, humid summers. Nicknamed the "City of Lakes", Minneapolis is abundant in water, with thirteen lakes, wetlands, the Mississippi River, creeks, and waterfalls. The city's public park system is connected by the Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway.Dakota people originally inhabited the site of today's Minneapolis. European colonization and settlement began north of Fort Snelling along Saint Anthony Falls—the only natural waterfall on the Mississippi River. Location near the fort and the falls' power—with its potential for industrial activity—fostered the city's early growth. For a time in the 19th century, Minneapolis was the lumber and flour milling capital of the world, and as home to the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, it has preserved its financial clout into the 21st century. A Minneapolis Depression-era labor strike brought about federal worker protections. Work in Minneapolis contributed to the computing industry, and the city is the birthplace of General Mills, the Pillsbury brand, Target Corporation, and Thermo King mobile refrigeration. The city's major arts institutions include the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Walker Art Center, and the Guthrie Theater. Four professional sports teams play downtown. Prince is survived by his favorite venue, the First Avenue nightclub. Minneapolis is home to the University of Minnesota's main campus. The city's public transport is provided by Metro Transit, and the international airport, serving the Twin Cities region, is located towards the south on the city limits.Residents adhere to more than fifty religions. Despite its well-regarded quality of life, Minneapolis has stark disparities among its residents—arguably the most critical issue confronting the city in the 21st century. Governed by a mayor-council system, Minneapolis has a political landscape dominated by the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), with Jacob Frey serving as mayor since 2018.This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:31 UTC on Tuesday, 31 December 2024.For the full current version of the article, see Minneapolis on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm standard Joanna.

Let us know!In today's episode of Discover Daily, we begin with news that Meta is embarking on an ambitious $10 billion project to construct a 40,000-kilometer subsea cable network. Nicknamed "W," this marks Meta's first exclusively owned undersea infrastructure. This massive project will connect multiple continents in a W-shaped pattern, linking the U.S. East Coast to India via South Africa, then to Australia and finally returning to the U.S. West Coast. The project, set to begin operations around 2029, represents Meta's strategic move to enhance global connectivity and reduce dependence on third-party networks.Scientists have made a breakthrough discovery in feline genetics, identifying the specific mutation responsible for orange fur in cats. The research reveals a 5 kb deletion in the Arhgap36 gene on the X chromosome that affects how pigments are distributed in cat hair follicles. This finding explains why orange cats have RNA levels 13 times higher than cats of other colors, and why approximately 80% of orange cats are male. Our deep dive explores the fascinating scenario of what would happen if humans suddenly vanished from Earth. Drawing from real-world examples like Bulgaria's Tyurkmen region, where abandoned settlements showcase nature's remarkable ability to reclaim spaces, we examine how quickly ecosystems would recover and adapt. From the immediate clearing of pollution to the gradual transformation of urban landscapes and the rebounding of wildlife populations, this journey through a human-free Earth reveals both challenges and opportunities for planetary recovery. From Perplexity's Discover Feed:https://www.perplexity.ai/page/meta-plans-world-spanning-inte-LFjJEcDkTjeuhdK9.USwyAhttps://www.perplexity.ai/page/elusive-orange-cat-gene-found-mD9XXzSUT4abcNwCQ4phrAhttps://www.perplexity.ai/page/if-humans-disappeared-on-earth-j8oM1M_QQli_emTESk7hTAShop like a Pro: Perplexity's new AI-powered shopping assistantPerplexity is the fastest and most powerful way to search the web. Hello! This is Episode 327, and I've brought Janet back to talk more about her project of building a new home on a challenging block for her family in Brisbane, Queensland.  We're talking all about how they selected their builder, tendered their project, made their selections and got ready for construction. [For all resources mentioned in this podcast and a free, downloadable PDF transcript, head to www.undercoverarchitect.com/327] We first met Janet back in Episode 319 and Episode 320, where Janet shared how she and her partner Paul, and their 3 children, started on their project journey in 2021.   Janet shared that they'd lived in their existing home for almost 19 years, and renovated it whilst their two oldest kids were really little.  Janet felt, in hindsight, they rushed it, and now were living in a home that isn't adapting to the changing demands of family life.  AND she knew they didn't want to renovate it again, as they felt they'd have to undo things to make the necessary changes. Whilst investigating what to do next, they unexpectedly found a block of land nearby, and after some deliberation, they purchased it. And then began their design journey, which is what Janet shares with us in those episodes. If you haven't listened, it's really worth doing so, or downloading the transcript, so you can hear all the amazing learnings that Janet shares. To summarise: they worked with one company to amend the floor plan of a two storey home in an attempt to get it to work on the site. However, the site constraints meant it wasn't going to deliver the outcome they were seeking, and a custom approach seemed to be the best option. Janet and Paul then chose their building designer, and worked with them to create a super interesting design for their new home. Nicknamed ‘the house with a hole', the rooms in this home circumnavigate an external landscaped courtyard area in the middle, shaping a central courtyard. This enables their home to create a privatised outdoor area, helps light to enter the home really well, and a super interesting floor plan and living experience … all on a super constrained site. Janet is back in this Episode, and you'll hear how she and Paul interviewed and vetted builders, to ultimately decide on their chosen one. And you'll also hear how they navigated the pre-construction and tender phase to get ready for construction. Janet discusses what worked, what learnings she had, and improved her project overall. Remember, if you'd like to grab a full transcript of this episode, you can find that by heading to www.undercoverarchitect.com/327. Now, let's dive in!
