Welcome true believers to X-Men Horoscopes where each week our host Lodro Rinzler is in conversation with a special guest to discuss the X-Men issue that aligns with a significant month and year from their life and what that issue reveals about their future. This week we have your favorite cosplay couple's favorite cosplay couple joining us - cohosts of the Adventures in Geekdom podcast and partners in life Michelle Waffle-Otero and Justin Otero come on the pod to discuss their WEDDING issue! Also on this episode: how Justin thought Michelle was catfishing him when they first met the X-Men fcked up a planet, and now the survivors are gonna fck them up Colossus sleeps naked and Kitty sleeps layered in two X-Men outfits …and much more. Who knows? Maybe Kitty dies here. Maybe we all learn something about how to make relationships work. Maybe we discuss Colossus naked for too long. What does Kruun of Breakworld methodically taking out the X-Men mean for their relationship? Tune in to find out! In the early 2000s, long before Justin Otero and Michelle Waffle Otero became recognizable faces in the cosplay community, their shared love for comics and toys set the foundation for their unique bond, as they quickly realized their love for comics, classic 80s toys, and all things Marvel. Their very first attempt at cosplay was at their nephew's 5th birthday party. The theme? Superheroes! Very funny story, they tell it this week. Over the years, they've become not just partners in life but in their shared passions—whether it's moderating panels, guesting on podcasts, or good ol fashioned toy hunting. They've grown into a team that embodies what it means to live and love in the world of comics and cosplay. More of Lodro Rinzler's work can be found here and here and you can follow the podcast on Instagram at xmenpanelsdaily where we post X-Men comic panels...daily. This time 'round, James and James are confronted with the poorly-designed Ord of Breakworld, and the otherwise charming script of Joss Whedon in Astonishing X-Men (2004) #1-6. Cassady is, for the most part, on point, even if this book heralds another decade of worthless X-Men stories. Then, they trek on over to 'general culture,' and an episode from the second season of Millennium, "Somehow, Satan Got Behind Me." Darin Morgan does it again. This is who we are.
Issues 1-6 Gifted "The first story arc focused on the introduction of several key characters and their involvement on the team. Whedon introduced a "mutant cure" designed by Indian Benetech scientist Dr. Kavita Rao, who was secretly sponsored by warrior alien Ord. The prospect of "real" humanity arouses the interest of a heavily mutated Beast, who visits Rao only to discover that the drug is the product of illegal human experimentation on an unknown victim. The X-Men raid Benetech and reunite with Colossus. With Colossus's help, the team takes down Ord, but not before it's revealed that a mutant (most likely an X-Man) would destroy Ord's home planet, the Breakworld, within the next three years." Character Corner - A Podcast on Your favorite Comic Book Characters
%CODE1% First Character Corner of 2017 is here! Kriss and Dpalm start the year off talking about Piotr Rasputin (Colossus) and Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat). We start with Giant Size X-Men #1 that gives us our first introduction of Colossus along with a bunch of other fan favorites like Storm & Nightcrawler and the second full appearance of Wolverine. We then go through the Claremont years and discuss then the introduction of Kitty Pryde and why the character is so important. The relationship between Peter and Kitty is a bit weird because of their ages but it develops into something less creepy. This Character Corner also was a great excuse for us to re-read Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men run which at its core is a Colossus/Shadowcat story. Along the way we geek out over how much we love the X-Men growing up and the potentials for doing Wolverine and Cyclops Character Corners. We talked for almost 2 hours and still cut out a lot, so give this a listen and let us know what you think Giant Size X-M3n #1 - First Appearance of Colossus Uncanny X-Men #129 - First Appearance of Kitty Pryde Uncanny X-Men #141 & 142 - Days of Future Past Uncanny X-Men #165 Kitty propositions Colossus Uncanny X-Men #174 - Kitty and Colossus officially start dating Secret Wars Secret Wars #5 - Colossus cheats Uncanny X-Men #183 - Colossus breaks up with Kitty, gets into a bar fight with Juggernaut Kitty Pryde & Wolverine Kitty goes to Japan, becomes a ninja, takes the name Shadowcat.
