Vale Of Clyde and Larkhall Thistle both picked up huge away victories this weekend in the Third Division and Lesmahagow continued their good start to the season with a 3-0 home win over Saltcoats. BSC Glasgow moved joint top of the Fourth Division with a 2-1 home win over Glenvale as Mark's Easterhouse side picked up their first point with a 1-1 draw against Campbeltown. In the latest installment of our guest specials, Good John is joined by former Scottish Sun Sports Editor and ex-Airdrie CEO Iain King, who is now coaching at North Toronto Nitros in Canada. After covering off more reflection on Scotland's qualification to Euro 2020, Iain talks about how he worked his way up the journalism ladder before joining The Scottish Sun in 2000. During his 15 years at the paper, he became Chief Football Writer then became Sports Editor in 2007. Iain was honest when asked about defending the papers reputation in comparison to its English version and how they overtook the Daily Record to become the most sold paper in Scotland. Iain also won Football Writer of the Year for three consecutive years thanks to scoops like Barry Ferguson's return to Rangers and Roy Keane signing for Celtic. Following a decision to take redundancy from the Scottish Sun in 2015, Iain became CEO at Airdrie and he goes through the challenges of the role, none bigger than when Manager, and good friend, Eddie Wolecki-Black suffered a stroke at half time during a game in Cowdenbeath. He left the club that summer and then moved to Canada under a year later to take up a coaching role at North Toronto Nitros. Iain's coaching career actually began during his newspaper days as he managed both East Kilbride and BSC Glasgow, so this held him in good stead to head out to Toronto. He explains that he is largely responsible for bringing kids of many age groups, male and female, through the academy. We round off by touching on his involvement with Northern American Scottish Coaches Association, where they hold weekly Zoom calls with many Scots coaches over here like Walter Smith, David Weir and Kevin Harper, before an interesting round of quick fire questions. So watch it, drink it in... the Draw, Lose or Draw podcast are talking about actual, physical games of association football after SEVEN MONTHS of not having our weekends ruined by everyone's favourite bombscare of a team, Partick Thistle. Matt Greer is joined by Jamie McDonald, Reiss Haldane and our resident sesh correspondent Manpreet Singh (broadcasting via satellite link from whatever gaff he broke COVID restrictions in last weekend) to discuss our four pre season friendlies against BSC Glasgow, Ayr United and our 4-0 aggregate defeat to Hearts over two legs. The lads then preview this week's League Cup group stage with the help of a host of guests. David Forrest talked to Buddies fan Ross Davidson from the Misery Hunters podcast about Wednesday's night group opener against St Mirren, before Matt talked to friend of the show and QP fan Duncan Raeburn ahead of our clash with the spiders on Saturday. Finally, after working his way through the ranks of the DLD Podcast Academy, youth prospect Blair McNally from BSR Sports makes his debut on the pod, interviewing Queen of the South fan Robbie Boyd about our clash next Tuesday, Aidan Fitzpatrick, the league vote, and Thistle signing ex-Doonhamer Connor Murray. AS a player Stephen Swift had a reputation for liking a laugh and a joke. But now he's deadly serious about becoming the best manager possible. Stephen is boss of Lowland League side BSC Glasgow. Last year he led them to an historic clash with Hibs in the last 16 of the Scottish Cup. Their achievement in getting there – and the way they played on the day – was yet more proof of his growing credentials in the duguout. Life as a gaffer started at Kilbirnie Ladeside eight years ago. We'll take a look at that transition including his first team talk - and learn about his ambitious in the dugout too. We'll also reflect on those madcap days playing for the likes of Benburb and Stranraer, when he sang karaoke to hero Paul McStay and impersonated Stranraer assistant manager Stuart Millar. There's the day Raith star Martin Prest had him on toast - literally - and the proud moment he was capped for Scotland. Plus much, much more. If you have any comments we'd love to hear from you. George Fraser isn't only general manager at Lowland League side BSC Glasgow. He's also chairman of the Lowland League itself and right now is the man behind the West Region Scottish Junior Football Association's ground-breaking move into a new West of Scotland League setup. Tuesday's deadline saw all 68 teams in the existing structure sign up to the proposals, which will see them sit alongside the East of Scotland and South of Scotland Leagues in Scotland's sixth tier. On Episode Two of Down The Divisions George outlines just how the new structure will work, the reasons behind it and why he believes it will be good for the game. Then, with his BSC hat on, he tells Gareth and Paul about the chance moment he was invited to get involved at the club, the continued battle to find a home ground - and why he hardly slept a wink the night before their Scottish Cup fifth round game with Hibs. As clubs in the SPFL Championship, League One and League Two prepare to vote on whether their seasons should end now, there's also a look at the latest on the coronavirus and its impact on Scottish football. Please do get in touch with your thoughts on what George had to say and whether you think the new setup is a good idea. If you have suggestions for guests, subjects or anything else then it would be great to hear from you as well. Contact us through Twitter, Facebook or email downthedivisions@gmail.com. It's the two John's on tonight as they discuss what has been going on in Scottish football. We were hoping to have Phil McGuire this week but unfortunately he has had to reschedule. The Scottish Cup takes up most of this week with six ties being decided. There was only one real upset with Inverness beating Livingston. BSC Glasgow gave a good account of themselves and hopefully the money they have earned can lead to them finding permanent facilities. We skim through midweek fixtures from last as we try not to bore the listeners with too much Aberdeen chat. There's certainly no goals to talk about for the Dons. We've got another Premiership midweek set of fixtures coming up as the games come in thick and fast. The lower leagues are discussed in terms of where it leaves teams as they aim for promotion or to get enough points to be safe from relegation. This leads us on to some Pyramid chat with another couple clubs in the West Region of the Juniors declaring their intentions. The podcast concludes with a wee bit of Scotland chat and the upcoming charity game. In terms of the charity game there is a Just Giving page set up if anyone would like to donate to help raise funds for Back Onside. We're also going to be doing a raffle so of anyone can donate any prizes we'd appreciate it. We've got some good ones so far from Aberdeen and Celtic which should have a fair bit of interest. Thanks as always for listening.
