Hello Rank Squad! It's time for Champions League Takeaway, your late night delivery following the action - following the first legs of the new 'Playoff Round' in the competition, pitting the teams who finished 9th to 24th in the league stage against each other to earn places in the Round of 16.And it started with a bang, with a matchup between Manchester City and Real Madrid that we've seen multiple times in recent years, but not quite like this - and the game delivered, for the neutral at least. We discuss another City collapse late in a game, that tifo about the Ballon d'Or and Vinicius Jr's on-pitch response, the defensive frailties in both sides - but that were handled far better by Los Blancos, and all the rest. We also take a look at PSG's win over Brest and if the Parisiens are back in the conversation to win this thing; Juventus fighting off PSV in what should have been the USMNT-off; and why Borussia Dortmund are just much better in Europe than they are in the Bundesliga, as they hammered Sporting in Lisbon. Then in Part Two, we start with Bayern's trip to Celtic Park, where they won 2-1, but where their opposition caused serious problems for Vincent Kompany's side nonetheless; before moving on to look at managerless Feyenoord's victory against AC Milan; Atalanta falling to Club Brugge in controversial circumstances; and another win for Benfica against Monaco in the Principality. It's Ranks! And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?

Dundee United are back in action this weekend – and it couldn't be tougher as the Tangerines head to Celtic Park. Does the Hoops' Bayern Munich effort give the Terrors' cause for optimism? We also discuss Owen Stirton's bright start on loan at Montrose – four goals in three games – and ask whether Richard Odada can make the grade at Tannadice. Meanwhile, Dundee will hope to build on their Scottish Cup win over Airdrie when they return to league duty against Aberdeen. Can the Dee take advantage of the Dons' defensive frailties…while addressing their own? The team analyse how Tony Docherty could, and should, set up for the visit of the Reds and discuss where Joe Shaughnessy could fit into things in the final months of the season. And will Scott Fraser play a part in the run-in for the Dark Blues after another set-back? Host Tom Duthie is joined by George Cran, Alan Temple and Graeme Finnan to chew the fat. Bayern Munich escaped Celtic Park with a 2-1 victory that might not have left fans feeling all that confident heading into the weekend's showdown with Bayer Leverkusen. The Bavarians relied on two moments of brilliance for its goals, which is fine — except that the visitors found it extremely hard to generate much offense otherwise. Not all of the lineup selections hit a homerun either, so this left us with a lot to discuss. Let's talk about how it all went down and more on the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show. It was dreadful deja vu for Dundee as Tony Docherty's men were hammered 6-0 for a second successive fixture. The team discuss the Dee's capitulation at Celtic Park – days after the same outcome against Hearts – which leaves the Dark Blues as the most porous side in the Premiership. What went wrong? Where is the resilience? And how much pressure is on their Scottish Cup showdown against Airdrieonians. We also look at what the run-in looks like for Rangers-bound Lyall Cameron. Across the road, Dundee United have a free weekend following their cup exit at Dens – but still managed to hit the headlines. The Tangerines have called for reform to the VAR and KMI (Key Match Incident) panel processes following the latest controversy involving the Terrors. We outline United's grievances – from inconsistency to the pressure being put on referees – and ask: is it time to scrap VAR altogether? Hello Rank Squad! With the end of the transfer window riding up on us quicker than anybody expected, and with nobody but Manchester City really getting the gears into action so far, there are a whole lot of stories building up to breaking point in the next few days. On today's show, Transfer Guru Dean Jones walks us through ten talking points about what deals are in the offing, and what to expect in terms of the market movers and shakers. We discuss potential swap deals, outgoings at Manchester United, Chelsea's plan to sign a forward, Tottenham's long-term ambitions, City looking to plug the midfield hole, Arsenal's eyes on a potential loan move for a No 9, and much more - as well as the potential futures for players such as Evan Ferguson, Ansu Fati, Alejandro Garnacho, João Félix and the rest. Before that, Jack runs through three things he loved at the weekend - including the chaos at AC Milan, Gavi's future-captain-turn on the sidelines for Barcelona, and Jota v3 returning to Celtic Park after a brutal spell away. Hello Rank Squad! It's time for Champions League Takeaway, your midnight feast of Champions League content - after an incredible week in the Champions League that saw Champions crumble, new powers rising, goals galore & some shock results. We start with Wednesday's action, opening with the breathless end to things in Eindhoven - where the USMNT's Malik Tillman and Ricardo Pepi fired up an incredible late comeback that saw their side overcome Shakhtar Donetsk at the death. Then it's on to Anfield, where Liverpool made light work of an out-of-sorts Madrid, lacking Vinicius and a few others. We discuss Mbappe's struggles, how Liverpool maintained perfect control, the midfield 'battle' and Conor Bradley's breakout performance. We also discuss a calamitous own goal from Cameron Carter-Vickers at Celtic Park, rescued by a brilliant Daezen Maeda strike at the other end; the drama at the finale of Aston Villa's 0-0 draw with Juventus; a brilliant game between two excellent sides in Benfica and Monaco; Jamie Gittens' star turn in Dortmund's impressive win over Dinamo Zagreb; a stunning Champions League performance from Lille's Ngal'ayel Mukau; and shock results in the early kickoffs as Sturm Graz beat Girona and Crvena Zvezda hammered Stuttgart in Belgrade. Then in Part Two, we're onto Tuesday's action, which begins witha deep dive into City's unthinkable collapse against Feyenoord which put all the worst fears of City fans into a stark perspective - this is real and it's happening. What next for Pep's men, and could they possibly turn it round in the most unlikely of locations - Anfield? We talk a bit of a strange blockbuster game between Bayern Munich and PSG and where both teams are right now, before heading over to Lisbon to discuss Arsenal's demolition of Sporting, which was one of the best performances we've seen under Mikel Arteta as all the parts finally click into place for the Gunners. Jack installs Inter as his favourites to win the competition following their incredibly mature win over struggling RB Leipzig; we look at a big night for Robert Lewandowski as Barcelona beat Brest 3-0; discuss Atalanta's 6-1 mauling of Young Boys and insist you don't write them off; ponder why Milan keep making things so hard for themselves, even in a 3-2 win in Bratislava; and end with quick discussions on hammerings handed out by both Bayer Leverkusen and Atletico Madrid. It's Ranks! And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?
