He has been capped 29 times by Northern Ireland and played for 20 clubs in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.Jones was born in Derry, Northern Ireland and moved to Manchester with his family at age 13. In his late teens, he played for Chadderton in the North West Counties Division One[5] before signing for Blackpool in July 1995.[6] After spending time playing for Blackpool's youth and reserve teams, he signed for Bury on a free transfer in July 1996. Unable to settle at Bury and frustrated by the lack of first-team opportunities, Jones decided to move to the Republic of Ireland and sign for League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers in July 1997, stating that Rovers manager Nicky Reid's offer of a full-time contract was what ultimately made up his mind.On 30 August 1997, he made his debut for The Bit o' Red in the league match against Bohemians, scoring just before half-time in the 2–2 draw at The Showgrounds. He spent almost two seasons with Sligo and won the League of Ireland Cup after playing in the final against Shelbourne in February 1998. Overall, he played 46 games and scored 6 goals for Sligo before moving to Bray Wanderers in January 1999. Jones made his debut for Bray on 22 January, playing in the 0–0 league draw with Finn Harps at Carlisle Grounds. Later that year, Jones was homesick and moved back to England, later having a brief spell with Northern Premier League side Chorley where he played in the last four games of the season for The Magpies.

The episode opens with reflections on Rangers' impressive 3–0 win over Viktoria Plzeň in European competition. The performance was marked by high energy and tactical discipline, with standout contributions from Antman, Gassama, and Dessers. Russell Martin's bold managerial decisions - dropping captain James Tavernier and midfielder Nico Raskin - were praised for sparking a strong team response. His direct communication style and tactical clarity were seen as key to Rangers' resurgence. Celtic's season opener against St Mirren was also analysed. While the team secured a win, the performance was considered underwhelming, with Adam Idah missing key chances. Fans express concern over the lack of new signings, especially with Champions League qualifiers looming. Celtic were linked with winger Clément Bischoff and defender Adam Obert, and the recent signing of Simpson-Pusey from Manchester City was highlighted for his composure and passing ability. The need for a new striker and winger is discussed, with Maeda's relentless work rate and impact praised as vital to the team's success. The show also explores the importance of strong European performances by clubs like Hibs, Dundee United, and Aberdeen , along with the potential for Hearts to challenge the Old Firm in future seasons thanks to investment from Tony Bloom. The debate over whether Rangers now have the best front three in Scotland was lively, though Celtic are still seen as stronger overall. Pyrotechnics at matches led to suspended ticket allocations for Celtic, Aberdeen, and Partick Thistle, prompting calls for fans to follow regulations. Player spotlights included Aston Villa's rejection of an £18M bid from Everton for John McGinn, whose leadership and versatility is praised. Scott McTominay and Caroline Weir are both nominated for the Ballon d'Or, showcasing Scottish talent on the international stage. Bojan Miovski is suggested as a potential Celtic signing due to his intelligent movement and finishing ability. Looking ahead, the weekend fixtures promised excitement, with key matches including Aberdeen vs Celtic, Rangers vs Dundee, and St Mirren vs Motherwell. The episode opens with lively discussion around Rangers' emphatic 3–0 win over Viktoria Plzeň in the Champions League qualifiers. The consensus: Rangers showed a level of intensity and tactical discipline that's been lacking in domestic performances, and the result puts them in a strong position for the return leg. Celtic's transfer activity is also discussed with speculation around the potential signing of Liverpool's Stefan Bajčetić and the confirmed arrival of Manchester City loanee Jahmai Simpson-Pusey. They also discuss the need for Celtic to strengthen their wide areas and midfield. The panel debate Brendan Rodgers' squad depth and whether the club's recruitment strategy will support a sustained domestic and European campaign. The show also discusses Scottish football, including praise for Motherwell's brave performance against Rangers and concerns about the lack of young Scottish talent breaking through at clubs like Dundee United.
