Some coaches chase titles. Others chase impact. For Stephen F. Austin assistant coach Lex Murphy, the journey has always been about people, purpose, faith, and finding a way to leave every program better than she found it. In this episode of SportsLifeTalk's You Got Next, we finally sit down with Coach Murphy after a three-year recruiting process of our own—and the conversation was worth the wait.A San Diego native with nine years in the coaching profession, Lex has earned every step of her journey. She's worked as a graduate assistant, director of basketball operations, recruiting coordinator, and Division I assistant coach, with stops that include UTEP and Texas A&M-Commerce before landing at Stephen F. Austin. Along the way, she's been part of winning programs, postseason runs, and the development of countless student-athletes.But coaching wasn't always the plan.Growing up in a basketball family as a coach's daughter, Lex has been around the game for as long as she can remember. Still, her original dream was to become an elementary school teacher. She even earned her master's degree and teaching certification. Eventually, she realized that her gift for teaching hadn't disappeared—it simply found a different classroom. Today, the basketball court is where she teaches, develops, challenges, and pours into young women.Lex takes us inside her coaching philosophy and explains why one of the most important lessons basketball has taught her is to “know your personnel.” Every athlete learns differently, responds differently to coaching, and requires a different type of relationship. That understanding has helped Lex become the connector, recruiter, and teacher she is today. She also opens up about her role alongside SFA head coach Leonard Bishop and why their relationship works. From studying offensive schemes and identifying in-game adjustments to having a voice during critical moments, Lex discusses how Coach Bishop has challenged her to sharpen her basketball IQ and continue growing as a coach. Then the conversation goes deeper.Faith isn't simply something Lex talks about—it influences how she approaches coaching, recruiting, relationships, and life. She shares why she prays before recruiting calls, why spreading love matters more than collecting recognition, and how trusting God's direction has helped her navigate the uncertainty of the coaching profession. One incredible recruiting story involving Ashlyn Traylor-Walker and an unexpected frog shows exactly why Lex believes some moments are bigger than basketball. We also have plenty of fun getting to know Lex away from the sidelines. She reveals her gospel-heavy Top 5 music artists, why Captain America is her superhero of choice, the CeCe Winans song that represents her life, and even gives SportsLifeTalk an impromptu singing performance. We also discover her love for spicy food—including an Inferno Burger loaded with ghost pepper cheese and garlic reaper aioli that KT wants absolutely no part of.Looking toward the future, Lex isn't consumed with chasing the next title or position. Whether her path eventually leads to becoming a head coach or continuing to build alongside Coach Bishop, she's focused on staying where her feet are and trusting where the journey takes her. This episode is for coaches climbing the profession, athletes wondering what comes after playing, parents navigating recruiting, and anyone who believes leadership is ultimately about serving others. At SportsLifeTalk Media, our mission is to amplify the voices shaping girls' and women's basketball. Through You Got Next, we're proud to share the stories behind the coaches, athletes, and leaders moving the game forward.Subscribe to You Got Next on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, leave a rating and review, and share this episode with someone who loves women's basketball. It took us three years to finally get Lex Murphy on SportsLifeTalk—and after this conversation, you'll understand why we refused to give up.

Kasper Hogh kickstarts his Celtic career as they trounce Kilmarnock on Rugby Park's newly laid park. How impressive was he alongside fellow summer signing Camilo Duran?Just a couple of hours later Rangers fell behind to Hibs, found an equaliser, and were then undone by a late winner for the visitors as Derek McInnes continues the search for his first win in his dream jobs. Is there now real cause for concern at Ibrox? Should they have cashed in on Youssef Chermiti?Wouter Vrancken's Hearts put four unaswnered goals past Dundee United to bounce back from their Benfica drubbing. Is this the version of Hearts we're more likely to see this season as their new squad continues to gel?Does Scottish football need a quota system to help young Scottish players get opportunities for top-flight first teams? What recommendations should be made at the upcoming SFA summit?
After Rangers could only draw with Dundee Utd on Friday night, Scott is joined by Ben to discuss the issues from that game, if McInnes can solve them and where we need further improvements across the squad before the window closes. Billy steps into the host's chair for Andrew as he fails a late fitness test and is joined by Cammy, Scott and Jack for another packed episode of The Ibrox Channel. The panel take an in-depth look at the independent report into the disorder surrounding the Old Firm clash at Ibrox, discussing its findings, the recommendations made, and whether the Scottish FA should shoulder more responsibility for what unfolded. They also debate Rangers' response to the report and what it could mean for future Old Firm fixtures. Attention then turns to Derek McInnes' four-match touchline ban following comments made while Hearts manager. Is the punishment justified, does it fit with previous SFA disciplinary decisions, and is there consistency in how similar cases have been handled? Finally, the team look ahead to Rangers' final pre-season test against West Ham, discussing what they want to see before the Premiership campaign gets underway and who could stake a claim for a starting place. All that and plenty more on this week's The Ibrox Channel. You can follow follow The Ibrox Channel on twitter/X @TheIbroxChannel

Ivan Herrera was the hero on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium as the Cardinals walk off another game in extra innings with the SFA club baseball team in the house one last time.On a day where the normally fundamentally sound Cards weren't hitting on all their marks, the bats picked up the slack with four homers, including the first of the walk-off variety of Herrera's career in the 10th.Tarps off just keeps providing the storylines for the Cardiac Cards.
Keep your shirts on, the Best Podcast in Baseball is back. And just in time, too. Good vibes have engulfed the Cardinals after returing from a successful swing through California to an eletrcic weekend at Busch Stadium, thanks to the fortuitous pairing of the Stephen F. Austin club baseball team, a walk-off win Friday night, and a mid-game revival Saturday against Kansas City. For several years, the host of the Best Podcast in Baseball has stumped and advocated for a change in the atmosphere at Busch -- from the need for a victory anthem to the idea of transplanting the supporter section from City SC to Busch, even for a weekend. Well, it's all happening. The students from SFA created that section organically, the Cardinals have adopted a victory anthem, and they're playing a style of baseball that is producing wins. Heck, they even have a home run prop. BPIB asks, have they found their voice as a contender? Host Derrick Goold, who misplaced his voice for several weeks, welcomes KMOX/104.1 FM star and BPIB fixture Kevin Wheeler discuss what elements of the Cardinals' success and the atmosphere at the ballpark has staying power. Also discussed: Wheeler suggests that the Cardinals have received produuction from Jordan Walker equivalent to a $40-milliion free-agent addition. Goold details his breakdown on the three types of statistics: narrative, qualitative, and predictive. And how each applies to discussing analytics for players, fans, and writers, and of course team executives, who camp out in the predictive category. The challenge of development when it comes to a character like Grogu as his big-screen debut approaches. This is the way BPIB returns More Post-Dispatch podcasts. Please consider subscribing. In its 14th season as one of the first and most widely heard podcasts on baseball and the Cardinals, the Best Podcast in Baseball has reached a new season-high with 30 episodes. Each episode is sponsored weekly by Closets by Design of St. Louis, is a production of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, StlToday.com, and lead baseball writer Derrick Goold.

The first season of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is truly special from top to bottom and we joyously break it all down in our usual TrekRanks style this week with the "Top 5 Starfleet Academy Season 1 Moments." From the introduction to Trek of Holly Hunter and Paul Giamatti to the sheer youthful enthusiasm and vigor of the new cast and cadets, this show aced every test thrown its way. Our expert panel of host Jim Moorhouse and guest Jenn Tifft and Michael Bentley cover the entire SFA syllabus with their picks (and also commiserate on the bad timing of learning about the series' long-term demise). This one is non-stop joy. Episode Rundown: Diagnostic Cycle: We break down the five distinct categories we use in our season recap shows. In order, this week's panelists reveal their picks in the following categories: Production Design, Behind-the-Scenes Creative MVP, Dabo Round Wildcard, Character and Episode! We also take a few minutes to discuss the show's cancellation, which occurred just hours before recording. Prime Directive: Our crew breaks down exactly how they defined their lists. The Order of Things: Everyone reveals their picks with the usual "Five word Summary and a Hashtag," along with one episode that helps frame their choice. Secondary Systems: Our guests each rattle off a few additional selections for the picks that just missed our lists! Regeneration Cycle: Everyone recaps their picks and we discuss some of the interesting statistical anomalies that arose from the discussion. Temporal Inversion: We flashback to a previous episode of TrekRanks and relay some of the feedback received from listeners. If you have your own picks you would like to relay to us, please hail us at 757-828-RANK (7265) and record your own personal TrekRanks log to let us know your Top 5 Starfleet Academy Season 1 Moments. (Or you can record it yourself and just DM us @TrekRanks.com on Bluesky.) Your comments could be used as part of a Temporal Causality Loop on an upcoming episode (and might get you a chance to be a guest on a future episode, too). And don't forget to check out TrekRanks.com for our entire back catalog of episodes and a detailed rundown on every episode of Star Trek ever.
