We're back with another episode of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents. Since the last episode East Fife have won twice, once in the Challenge Cup and once in the league. Is this an unbeaten run? Or more importantly, is this the turning point in the season after a poor start that has seen the club hit bottom of the division? The guys chat about those wins against Albion Rovers and Clyde and the main talking points coming out of them, the importance of those victories, and keeping that momentum going now. Plus there's much excitement for the Fife's foray into Europe next month and would Scotland have beaten England if Steve Clarke had called up Ryan Gauld?!

We're back with another episode of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents. Two months ago hopes were high amongst the Bayview faithful. East Fife were the bookies' favourites to win Scottish League 2. Nathan Austin was the bookies' favourite to be the league's leading scorer. The excitement and anticipation for the year to come was palpable. Then the season started. Five games into the league campaign, East Fife now find themselves languishing bottom of the table, winless, with the second-highest amount of goals conceded and the joint fewest goals scored. So where has it all gone wrong? Michael, Lee, Gordon, and Aaron are back to chat about all of that, the season so far, the latest loss to Dumbarton, and what lies in store. Can this weekend's Albion Rovers cup tie be a springboard to a change in fortunes? How concerning is the situation? This is a squad most agree should most certainly be at the other end of the table, so why aren't they? How much does Greig McDonald shoulder the blame for the current plight and how big a loss was Scott Agnew to the coaching staff? There's a lot to discuss!

Welcome to the landmark 100th episode of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents. Michael, Lee, and Gordon are back to celebrate the fun that's been the past 33 months and 100 episodes. What started during the lockdown era in May 2020 has grown into a must listen for East Fife fans the world over, looking at the past, present, and future. The guys are joined by a couple of special guests for this special episode and first up is the Bayview legend that is Kenny Deuchar (26.10). Making his sixth appearance on the show (four of those having been as co-host), the good doctor takes questions from listeners about his time at East Fife, his career, and more, including a fantastic story about meeting Jeff Stelling. We're also joined by Eugene Clarke (77.42) to talk about the latest attempt to buy out the majority shareholder of East Fife and have the club community owned. It's been tried before to no avail, but this time around it's looking a lot more positive and there's some government backing to the plan as well. All of this and there's still time to delve into East Fife getting back to winning ways, with a hugely important 1-0 win at Albion Rovers (115.26).

We also explore the sectarian divide which splits the city with Kenny Pryde. The eyes of the cycling world will be on Glasgow, and other parts of the country as Scotland takes centre stage in August 2023 as hosts of the UCI World Championships. Welcome to Episode 86 of Glory Days of Gold, the East Fife and Scottish football podcast recorded across two continents. Week three of the new Scottish League 2 season is now in the history books and East Fife have become road warriors, recording their second straight away win and even keeping that rarity for them that is an ultra clean sheet, following a hard fought 1-0 victory at Albion Rovers, where they more than rode their luck and had a string of top saves from Allan Fleming to thank for the three points.. Michael, Lee, and Gordon delve into the match and the main talking points coming out of it. What can we read into the start of the new season? Probably nothing much just yet, but that won't stop us! Is this a sign of things to come? Good away, poor at home. Can they only beat teams that begin with a vowel? Or is it more that they've got the beating of poor teams and despite all of their flaws, East Fife aren't the worst team in the league and will pick up enough points along the way to be mid-table dwellers? Can they be more and what do they need to get them to that point? We chat about all of that and take a look at the comings and going down Bayview way this past week.

It's a special show this week as we broadcast our 50th episode AND celebrate our first birthday. And for a special show we wanted a stellar guest. It's a longer episode this week but Ross Stewart's rise from the juniors to challenging at the top of England's League One with Sunderland is a story worth listening to. Whether you get through it in one go or do it in bursts across the course of the week, ever one of Ross' answers can act as inspiration to anyone involved in semi-professional football. On Monday Ross made his first start for the Black Cats but just eight years ago he was having to tout himself around juniors teams and working for the land registry. Ross is the perfect example of just where you can go if you work hard and put your mind to it. After playing for St Mirren and Celtic as a kid he got his break at Ardeer Thistle then moved onto Kilwinning Rangers and hasn't looked back since. Spells at Albion Rovers and back at St Mirren followed before his form at Ross County won him a move to the Stadium of Light in January. We'll hear how he fell out of football then found it again after being petrified walking into Ardeer's changing room for the first time. We hear how his dad had to pay £500 to make his dream of leaving Kilwinning Rangers for Albion Rovers a reality - but has he paid that life changing sum back yet? There's the spell where he left his day job working for the land registry on a Friday - and started full-time football with St Mirren three days later.  Ross also tells us about the Sunderland medical and his reaction to their manager Lee Johnson's claims he wants to mould him into a combination of Niall Quinn and Kevin Phillips. WE'RE going trans-Atlantic on Down The Divisions. For the past two years Jim Chapman has been assistant coach for the University of Kentucky's women's team. But before that he had a long and distinguished career in Scotland's lower leagues. After turning out for Albion Rovers and Dumbarton his playing career was cut short by a cruciate injury at the age of 25. But seeing a patient with no legs fall out of the hospital bed next to him helped put things in perspective – and ensured nothing was going to take away his love for the game. Since then he's thrown himself into coaching and coach education. After turning Kilmarnock Ladies into an all conquering side he lifted Albion Rovers then led Dumbarton to a title before navigating the club through the tragic death of their captain. We'll hear how he met the hero he pretended to be in the playground after guiding Annan to their biggest ever win – and Rangers' biggest ever loss. Jim also tells us about the day he bought back his Albion Rovers championship winning shirt after someone spotted it on ebay. Plus Jim talks about how he's missing Twirls in Kentucky - and how he's reinvented himself as a coach since leaving Clyde. All that and more on Episode 22 of Down The Divisions.

The two John's are joined by ex Hibs, Derby, Portsmouth, Stoke and Dunfermline player Kevin Harper. Kevin is the current manager of Albion Rovers so we start off by talking about reconstruction talks and what his views are on this. He goes on to talk about signing for Hibs, the highs and lows of scoring winners in Edinburgh derbies and relegation in his last full season. We talk about racism in football and how things haven't really improved since then 1990s which is when Kevin started his career. He believes more needs to be done to get BAME involved particularly in management. Kevin moved on to Derby who were in the English Premier League and had a successful first season before moving on to Portsmouth a couple seasons later. This led to playing with some great players and characters such as Prosinecki, Crouch and Merson. This leads on to his best season in football where they got promoted to the top flight in England. Unfortunately things didn't work out as well then with a couple of loan spells and eventually moving on to Stoke where after a successful start, injuries took their toll. He then returned north with Dunfermline. We finish off with the usual fun stuff which includes a cracking best eleven of players he has played with.
