This week we meet Sherri Dill, Lead Production Brewer at Capital Brewing Company and ACT State Coordinator of The Pink Boots Society. Sherri has just appeared the face of the first episode of a new beer education series created by Capital Brewing, which you can see on Instagram or download. I was interested in finding out a little bit more about her background and career progress that has seen her recently appointmented as Capital's lead production brewer. As you'll hear it's what could be described as a non-traditional career path for a brewer, but also highlights the changing industry. It also gives Sherri some interesting insights into the industry and how brewing needs to change and adapt to a changing market. This episode of Beer is a Conversation is presented by HPA. Australia's leading hop grower offers a huge range of Aussie, international and innovative hop products that can help breweries of all sizes become more efficient, more sustainable, and more profitable. Episode 130 - How surfing gives you the clarity to start one of the most exciting food tech platforms with Mike and Rich from Kaddy Mike Abbott and Rich Coombes, school & university mates, are the co-founders of Kaddy. In between surfs and trips to the pub they discussed the pain of clunky time-wasting ordering and payment methods for the beverages industry - legacy ways of doing things ripe for change. Prior to Kaddy Mike headed up Uber Operations in Australia/NZ and Rich co-founded several beverage businesses including Batlow Cider, Capital Brewing and Will & Co Coffee. Between them, they’ve spent the last decade working within industries that shaped how the Kaddy software was built. In this podcast we speak about how surfing gives you clarity, how they came to focus in on the beverage market, and how they have managed to grow the business during the pandemic. It is always good to talk to tech founders who come from the industry! In this episode, I meet up with serial Beer Entrepreneur Rich Coombes from Kaddy. Having started other beer and cider ventures in the past, including Batlow Cider and Canberra's Capital Brewing, Rich and other co-founder and former UBER Australia Head of Operations Mike Abbott, are streamlining the way suppliers and customers in the alcoholic beverages market interact with their B2B ordering platform Kaddy. In our chat we discuss how Kaddy works, and how it can help breweries to start dipping their toes into wholesale distribution. We also talk about the self-distribution and traditional distribution models and how the Kaddy platform combines the two creating an interesting hybrid way of doing business in the wholesale distribution space. A very interesting concept, and yet another example of how the rise of the Internet Economy and the digital tech world is disrupting and redefining industries in regards to the supplier, customer relationship and cutting out unnecessary middle men.EPISODE LINKS:Kaddy WebsiteVisit us at www.buildmeabrewery.com.au and sign up to our mailing list to be the first to know when episodes launch plus exclusive Brewery Building Content. Also like and follow us on FacebookBuild Me A Brewery Facebook PageBuild Me A  Brewery Discussion Group

Vampires, cats, dragons, and wizards, oh my!  This week we’re back with another episode of our favorite CCG, Magic: The Gathering.  We have a ton of fun playing Commander format Magic when we all get together, so we thought it would be fun to showcase the latest precon decks in the Commander series, Commander 17. Commander 17 focused on tribal decks, so each of these decks fit that theme.  The new Eminence ability was also introduced, which allows for these commanders to start manipulating the battlefield before they even make it there.  Teej is playing Draconic Domination, which is obviously dragon-themed.  Schnell and his cats are running Feline Ferocity.  Junior rolls with the patriarch of the Markov clan, Edgar Markov, and plays Vampiric Bloodlust.  Nelson seeks to use wizards and countermagic to run everyone’s day, so he’s playing Arcane Wizardry.  In order to show off how these decks play directly out of the box, everyone is playing a completely un-modified version of each deck. This week in beer Teej steps up his game as he’s recovering from a nasty cold and goes with Maibock from Capital Brewing, Schnell channels his inner Ronald McDonald and drinks Ocular Pat-Down from Odd Side Ales, Junior throws a jab at Teej’s deck and drinks Magic Dragon Double IPA from Hop Haus Brewing Company, and Nelson aims to make his opponents suffer as he drinks Tears of My Enemies from Ale Asylum.
