It's "barbecue," but you know...if you spell it "barbeque," or "BBQ," or "Bar-b-que," it's gonna taste just as good! I got an interview with my man Dave Graham of Graham's Up In Smoke in Philipsburg. Dave's got opinions about barbecue, and that's 100% cool, because he makes excellent barbecue: brisket, pork, chicken (when it's reasonable), sausage, turkey, and salmon. Yes, salmon...but you'll have to wait for Lent! Dave and I got well into the weeds, temperatures, wood, and cuts of meat, and you will be drooling by the time we're done. I'll give you my opinions on barbecue as well; I have been smoking/barbecueing for well over ten years, and I will challenge your thoughts on this ancient method of meat magic cookery. What else? I finally got my first Maibock of the year, from New Trail Brewing, and the Smack Dab In The Centre segment is about three GREAT music venues in Centre County (all of them have a liquor license, so, you know). Next episode? I've got an interview on Monday that I have wanted to get for longer than we've had the podcast, an OG beer bar that I first visited over 20 years ago. That's going to be the heart of a great town profile, I guarantee. See you in two weeks! Until then? TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT THE PODCAST!
Stefan went on holiday to Portugal and brought back some beers. One from his brother who gifted him several beers from Arkansas. We're excited to try Natural State Brewing Maibock. It won Gold Medal in 2021 at the Great American Beer Festival. We get it. This beer slaps. It's 7.2% ABV but drinks really light. This is a chuggable beer. Catraio is a beer bar in Porto, Portugal. It's a really great place with lots of taps, bottles and cans. They celebrated their 9th year with a special beer brewed by Fermentage. Catraio 9.0 is an India Pale Lager made with oleo saccharum with red grapefruit and lime zests. Then it as hopped with Cascade, Mandarina Bavario and Perle hops and dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin. Then end result is a hoppy lager with a slightly tart edge. #beer #craftbeer #drinks #lager #maibock

Have you ever had a Maibock? My old buddy Chip "The Beer Guy" Hanuscik lured me up to Northeast PA with Maibock. He talked FOUR brewers into making one, and dangled that in front of me. I took the bait like a brown trout rising to a Green Drake, and I'll tell you all about it. PLUS: NEPA Pizza! The incredible Sabatini's! Tom Brennan! And a real life Wilkes-Barre kielbassi shop! Next episode? THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN! I asked you who you wanted me to interview, and you said "Give us The Pizza Boy, Al Kominski!" Well, I cannot defy or deny the people, so I went down to Enola and got the interview...and then hung around and visited some breweries. You'll get what you asked for...in two weeks! Until then? In this episode Bob and I look at the Helles Bock. Also called “heller bock” (meaning “pale bock”), the German-style Maibock is paler in color and more hop-centric than traditional bock beers. A lightly toasted and/or bready malt character is often evident. Examples of this style: 1. Ayinger – Maibock 2. Rogue – Dead Guy Ale 3. Magic City Brewing Company – But I thought everything was okay. ABV: 6.3-7.4% IBUs: 23-35 Color: 6-9 Serving Temp: 38-45 Serving Pressure: 10-14 PSI Beer Representation: Maibark 6.5% ABV 19 IBUs Beer Description: Golden, easy drinking, traditional example of Maibock.

WE MADE A BEER! This episode we are at Elicit Brewing Company in Manchester Connecticut to taste our first beer collaboration with Brian Ayers. Brian is the headbrewer at Elicit and invited us to help make his first Maibock which we named Hard Rock Bock. Brian joins us on the show to talk about the brewing process on the coldest day in February. Why "Mashing Out" is fun for podcasters and not for brewers. And discusses Elicit's new location in Fairfield Connecticut. Plus, we are joined by a panel of Beer experts to taste our beer and let us know if they think it is Solid or Not Solid. Big Mike and Brando from Brewheads Entertainment join us as well as Dave Pesky from Industrial Mechanics Brewing to try our beer. And Beer Man Beer favorite Briizy Hiltz. While we enjoy our new beer we also get into conversation about Briizy getting married. How we feel about Furries. What Keg got hit in the forehead with in Rhode Island. "Nudy Bars" in Wild Wood New Jersey. And we all tell our stories of the first time that we were pulled over by police. A Fun Time with Beer Fam trying our first beer collaboration with Elicit. Thank you to Brian Ayers for the opportunity. Hard Rock Bock on Tap now at Elicit Brewing Company in Manchester. Solid. #Cannonball!

This is probably our most ambitious episode ever. We'll be eating well-known New Orleans dishes, along with Abita beer, and then making New Orleans cocktails and pairing them with paczkis. We apologize in advance for all the mouth noises. Abita is the classic New Orleans beer and a lot of their offerings pair great with local cuisine. Mardi Gras Bock is a more of a Maibock than a doppelbock, which makes it a clean, easy-drinking beer. It pairs perfectly with the shrimp étoufée, red beans & rice and jambalaya. Check out the full recipes on our blog: Vieux Carré w/Custard Paczki topped with Chocolate Fudge Pimm's Cup w/Rose Petal Jelly Paczki or Strawberry & Whipped Cream Paczki Hurricane w/Passionfruit Jelly Paczki Sazerac w/Plum Butter Paczki Ramos Gin Fizz w/Apricot Preserves Paczki In addition to all that, Pat brought Cheramie Rum. Made in New Orleans from fresh-pressed cane juice. It's a bit like an Agricole rum but not as funky. "It's no secret I love a well made lager. One of the great benefits of this current brewing age is the number of small producers that are creating high quality pilsners and lagers. Goldfinger Brewing, located in a western Chicago suburb is one of them. Thomas Beckmann, the co-founder and brewer is my guest this week. He has all the credentials one would want from a proper lager brewer. He has his Master Brewer's diploma through the World Brewing Academy in Chicago and Munich, and built Goldfinger to the specs he wanted, including a decoction brewhouse, aeration, horizontal lager tanks and natural carbonation. There is also some family history involved here as well. Markus Goldfinger, a brewer – and equipment manufacturer - who lived in the 19th century in Poland and sold across Europe is Tom's ancestor. Today's Goldfinger has three core offerings and a host of rotating seasonals, we'll talk about it all along with process, and service. I've been hearing about Goldfinger from several of you listeners for a while now, including Aaron Peterson who says “ His brewery has achieved 'please just take all of our money' status in our household, and his Maibock was one of the best beers I have had in a very long time.” Then Ashleigh Carter of Bierstadt Lagerhaus suggested having Tom on, so clearly the time had come. This Episode is sponsored by:Cigar City Brewing Co.Jai Low IPA. Vibrant aromas of nectarine, orange zest, and lime leaf greet the nose, melding seamlessly with peach-like esters and a light, bready malt aroma. Citrus flavors of clementine and tangerine dance on the palate with a snappy bitterness, with bread crust-like malt, and sparkling carbonation providing balance to this moderate-bodied IPA.

Who knew that upon entering Apex Aleworks there's a chance you'll be welcomed with a performance of Shakespeare behind the bar? Well, it happened while Nick and Nigel were setting up the gear for another road show, this one in Independence, Mo with Apex Aleworks owner Tim Callahan. We talked about his entry into beer and the story of why, after leaving a career in technology, his wife would suggest he buy a brewery. The beer is good and the stories are even better in this one, folks. Oh, and lest I forget, we added something new to the show this week — the sultry vocal tones of Big Rip's Bri Burrows. Mystery beers consumed in this episode: Frühlingsbock Maibock, The Fermentorium; La Chouffe Blonde, Brassiere d' Achouffe; and Hazy IPA, Red Leg Brewing Company
Was serviert ihr dazu? Fantastisch! Wir freuen uns, wenn ihr Fotos von euren Wildgulasch-Rezepten auf Instagram mit @heimatgenuss_und_weltwürze taggt – so finden wir eure Bilder. In diesem Sinne: An Guadn und Bon Appétit!
The Original 40 Brewing Company is a new OG We caught Cosimo Sorrentino just in time to talk about San Diego's The Original 40 Brewing Co. before he heads for Lazarus Brewing in Austin, TX. Cosmo's a San Diego native and spent time brewing in Europe before returning home. When asked about the departure he shares that he likes where the beer scene is in Austin and wants to be a part of that, also the overall culture of the city. And, of course, BBQ. As we chat with Sorrentino about brewing in San Diego and Europe, Maibock, Cashmere hops, and the insanity of moving to Austin in the Summer we drink through some of their lineup. Contrary #beertwitter rumble lats week about there being nothing but IPAs at breweries, Original 40 runs the gamut with Pilsners, Rice Lagers, Smoked Brown Ales, super-thicc stouts, and yes, some NE and West Coast IPAs. And they're all damn tasty. If you're in San Diego you should take a trip to the taproom. This Saturday (05/07/22) would be a good day, they're releasing Rafiki's Ritual, a glass-paintingly thick bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout. Grab a bite, get a beer, enjoy that San Diego weather and bid farewell and good luck to Cosimo on his next adventure.
Enjoy the classics at Ironshield Brewing We're bringing you one from our backyard this week! If you're a Georgia beer nerd you may know the name Glen Sprouse. If you don't know his name then you probably know some of his breweries. The old timers may recall Phoenix Brewing which opened in Atlanta at The Prado in 1996, slightly less older timers likely know 5 Seasons that took over the space in 2001. Sprouse was part of both of those ventures. He stepped away from brewing for a while before opening up Ironshield Brewing in Lawrenceville, GA. The brewery features classic European styles including Seven Sisters Munchner Lager, which was a staple on the taps at 5 Seasons. With the addition of Jason Carroll to the team some true Irish beers have hit the taps. Carroll came to America from Ireland where he brewed at Guinness's Open Gate Brewery, among others. In addition to their Ironshield brand the brewery also contract brews under Big Kettle Brewing and expects to brew 30,0000 barrels for their customers in 2022. Welcome back Lorelei Hefeweizen Ironshield offers several returning seasonals, like Lorelei Hefeweizen which returns this weekend. (Release party March 26th, 2022) We got a sneak preview of this one and it's one fine Hef. Next up is Warhammer Maibock in late May. We're all in for that one on the name alone. Although contract brewing is the largest part of the brewery's business right now they are working diligently to grow the Ironshield brand. If you're a fan of classic ales and lagers do yourself a favor and check them out. Brought to you by The Real Voice - Mel Allen. Providing voice over for commercials, podcasts, explainer videos, and more. Samples and demos at https://therealvoice.com I tweeted at Pints and Panels today to see if there were any Girl Scout Cookie and Beer Pairings to recommend - and it's coming in March! I'll do my best to keep you informed as my cookies just dropped and I might try some pairings as I have heard Samoas pair well with a Brown Ale, S'mores with a Peanut Butter Chocolate Stout, and Shortbread aka Trefoil with Sours or Pale Ales - but I have not tried myself yet. If you have some good pairings, let me know on Twitter https://twitter.com/The_Boozebuddy Anyway - on to the stories - which prompted this pairing to begin with! Snacks are good, beer is good - but some complement each other really well. So get your game face on for this weekend and if you don't have good recipes yet for your Super party get things moving. From Pretzels, Spinach dip, and wings to Maibock, Stouts, and Saisons it's going to help you really enjoy the day - whether or not your team pulls through or isn't in the game. https://food52.com/blog/15710-10-beer-and-food-pairings-for-the-big-game The next one is a bit of a Valentine's pairing, but for those who just aren't into the wines. This one is for the Scotch and chocolate lovers - a wonderful level of indulgence that makes my mouth water just thinking about it! This is a bit of an old list - but I couldn't find one that went across several brands and types that was updated and, honestly, this one just seems like it's so much more of a complete list. Head over to et the run down https://scotchwhisky.com/magazine/food/18340/10-ways-to-pair-chocolate-with-whisky/ And now for something completely different - The University of Southern Maine (USM) Foundation has received a $100,000 gift from Maine Beer Company to create a unique Brewing Up Opportunity Internship & Scholarship Fund. The gift establishes a pilot program for USM students that includes a paid internship with Maine Beer Company and a scholarship award of up to $5,000 per academic year upon completion of the internship. The program's goal is to promote diversity and inclusion within the craft beverage industry by providing access to education, on-the-job training, and mentoring to help develop a new generation of beer industry professionals. That's verbatim from the press release you can read at https://usm.maine.edu/publicaffairs/maine-beer-company-gift-creates-brewing-opportunity-program-usm Next Time: Tomorrow we'll go Another Round with the Eco-Friendly Beer Drinker - make sure to tune in! I also release the Another Round editions earlier than the weekday editions! The Boozebuddy Update continues on video!

Cheers, Skol, and Happy Thanksgiving to all!
P&C review a Maibock, then ask how much should government protect us from ourselves. If a citizen is doing something unsafe, should the government step in? If so, in what cases? What are the limiting principles? There seems to be a sliding scale between areas where government should clearly intervene, and areas where it clearly should not, and it's hard to come up with a clear red line between them.

P&C drink a Maibock, then discuss their favorite topic: beer. The boys talk about hop classifications and uses, and why hops came to dominate beer. They also discuss warm vs. cold beer, and why temperature matters. And what about sour beers? What's up with that. And speaking of off flavors, what about those beer geeks who criticize Budweiser? They end with a pair of beer challenges.

EPISODE SUMMARY: As we move through May, it felt important to pay homage to the beers that were designed with this month in mind. Join us as we drink through a very traditional example of a Maibock, and then delve into something a little more modern. Food pairings, outside activities, and a reason to stop and enjoy a variation of Lager that will be harder to find as the weeks go by after this episode. What We’re Drinking: 1516 by Red Oak Brewery Link: https://untappd.com/b/red-oak-brewery-1516/1522417 ABV: 7% IBU: 22 Notes: Red Oak’s 1516 Heller Bock, appealing to Connoisseurs of exceptional beers, is a strong, full-bodied, smooth bier. 1516 Heller Bock, golden in color, is Brewed according to the Bavarian 1516 Law of Purity. Glory Is Goldenbock by Burial & Zillicoah Beer Company Link: https://untappd.com/b/burial-beer-co-glory-is-goldenbock/3575781 ABV: 6% IBU: 30 Notes: Glory is a destination for those who follow the gospel. It gives a hearkened voice to the apostles of beverage, those who remind us that taste is an amalgamation of tradition and revival. So we got together with our friends down on the river at Zilicoah Beer Co., to forge an often drinkable, yet full-flavored lager. Inspired by the Hellesbock-styled golden lagers of Germany, we decided to tip a hat to the regional American brewers that breathed new life into those styles in the new world. Glory Is was made from German barley, noble hops, and forged through a full decoction before lagering to crystalline perfection. Fully aged. Never Sacrificed. This week, we continue our examination of representation in Trek as Thad Hait joins the show to talk neuroatypicality in Star Trek. Characters like Spock, Data, and Seven of Nine often struggle with expressing their emotions and when relating to their fellow crew members, things that many Trek fans on the autistic spectrum find all too familiar. Even though these characters weren't created with autism in mind, they still have served as an inspiration to those on the spectrum and can serve as an important educational tool for neurotypicals. During the show, we talk about the importance of depicting neurodiversity in Trek, Data's (obvious) emotions, dispelling the "superpowers" myth, Odo's fixation on routine, how Trek compares to Big Bang, Seven dumping Chakotay, meeting party aliens, and an Alphas shout-out!Does Sybok drink Maibock?Follow Thad on Twitter and check out Delta Flyer Pod and Stargate Weekly!http://twitter.com/tyranicushttp://twitter.com/deltaflyerpodhttp://twitter.com/stargateweeklyTo find out more about autism spectrum disorder or to lend your support, visit the Autistic Self Advocacy Network!https://autisticadvocacy.org/Listen to the new JET Network show, Virtual Theater!http://twitter.com/virtualtheaterxTake our internet radio survey and listen to JET Radio!http://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Q3ZRJNRhttp://streaming.live365.com/a35260Join our crew on Patreon and get access to our live episodes, DS9/VOY recaps and more!http://www.patreon.com/eistpodClick through our Amazon link on enterprisingindividuals.com to support the show!http://www.enterprisingindividuals.comhttps://www.amazon.com/?tag=jet01-20&linkCode=ezFollow us on Twitter and Facebook for Trek news and updates!http://www.twitter.com/eistpodhttp://www.facebook.com/eistpod
Bock(Description courtesy of Beer Advocate)Bock is a bottom fermenting lager that generally takes extra months of lagering (cold storage) to smooth out such a strong brew. Bock beer in general is stronger than your typical lager, more of a robust malt character with a dark amber to brown hue. Hop bitterness can be assertive enough to balance, though must not get in the way of the malt flavor, most are only lightly hopped. 2 Subcategories:A.Subcategory: Traditional German-Style Bock-Color – Dark brown to very dark-Clarity: Appearance should be bright; chill haze should not be present-Perceived Malt Aroma & Flavor: Traditional Bocks are made with all malt, and have high malt character with aromas of toasted or nutty malt, but not caramel. Traditional bocks display high malt sweetness. The malt flavor profile should display a balance of sweetness and toasted or nutty malt, but not caramel.-Perceived Hop Aroma & Flavor: Very low -Perceived Bitterness: Medium-Body: Medium to Full -ABV: 6.3%-7.6%B.Subcategory: German-Style Heller Bock/Maibock-Color – Pale to light amber. The German word “helle” means light-colored, thus Heller Bock is a pale beer.-Clarity: Appearance should be bright; chill haze should not be present-Perceived Malt Aroma & Flavor: Light toasty and/or bready aroma and flavor is often evident. Roast or heavy toast/caramel malt aromas and flavors should not be present.-Perceived Hop Aroma & Flavor: Low to medium-low, derived from noble-type hops.-Perceived Bitterness: Low to Medium-Low-Body: Medium to Full-ABV: 6.3%-8.1%-Glassware: Tulip Glass - A stemmed glass, obviously tulip-shaped, wherein the top of the glass pushes out a bit to form a lip in order to capture the head and the body is bulbous.-Examples (courtesy of Beer Advocate)(https://www.beeradvocate.com)Bock | Spoetzl Brewery / ShinerBrewed by: Spoetzl Brewery / Shiner Texas, United Statesshiner.com Style: German Bock Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.40% Notes / Commercial Description: Tip back a bock. Feinschmeckertouren – Der Reise- und Genusspodcast mit Betina Fischer und Burkhard Siebert
Ins Vitalhotel Therme Geinberg geht’s heute! Wer an Österreich denkt, denkt zuerst an Wein. Fehler! If you've ever taken a trip to Asheville, NC you've likely heard, "If you can find the time, take a trip to Fonta Flora." Todd Boera opened his original brewery about an hour east of Asheville in Morganton. Slightly closer is Fonta Flora's new Whippoorwill Farm location, a 9-acre farm and 15-barrel brewhouse. Being away from the action of Asheville hasn't hurt his brewery. His unique brews with ingredients like beets, carrots, and tulsi bring in plenty of fans, and many do make the side trip from Asheville. Boera uses only local ingredients in his brews and his farm will have a sizable orchard as well as garden areas to grow other ingredients. For those he can't grow himself he'll source from other local farmers. Fonta Flora also has their own house culture used to ferment their "Appalachian Wild Ales". With the growth the new location has allowed, you'll see some more "normal" beers like Kolsch, Maibock, and even a Light Lager. The funk will keep flowing as well. Boera admits some of his creations are for a very specific audience, but they're what put Fonta Flora on the map and continue to be very important beers for them to brew. Wir haben Maibock. Ouzo, Duso? Vampires, cats, dragons, and wizards, oh my! This week we’re back with another episode of our favorite CCG, Magic: The Gathering. We have a ton of fun playing Commander format Magic when we all get together, so we thought it would be fun to showcase the latest precon decks in the Commander series, Commander 17. Commander 17 focused on tribal decks, so each of these decks fit that theme. The new Eminence ability was also introduced, which allows for these commanders to start manipulating the battlefield before they even make it there. Teej is playing Draconic Domination, which is obviously dragon-themed. Schnell and his cats are running Feline Ferocity. Junior rolls with the patriarch of the Markov clan, Edgar Markov, and plays Vampiric Bloodlust. Nelson seeks to use wizards and countermagic to run everyone’s day, so he’s playing Arcane Wizardry. In order to show off how these decks play directly out of the box, everyone is playing a completely un-modified version of each deck. This week in beer Teej steps up his game as he’s recovering from a nasty cold and goes with Maibock from Capital Brewing, Schnell channels his inner Ronald McDonald and drinks Ocular Pat-Down from Odd Side Ales, Junior throws a jab at Teej’s deck and drinks Magic Dragon Double IPA from Hop Haus Brewing Company, and Nelson aims to make his opponents suffer as he drinks Tears of My Enemies from Ale Asylum.

Brewers Guild - Maibock at Curt Meyers (Forest City Brewers) HomeBrewRockStars hits the road for a February Brewers Guild at Curt Meyers (Forest City Brewers). This podcast episode checks out Curt's unique All Grain electric #homebrew system as he brews a special Maibock and gives the club a rundown on how his custom automated system works. The well attended Brewers Guild featured some tasty home-brew samples, as well as various private stashes of hard-to-find craft beers, including Surly Darkness and Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout. Event pictures included below. [mc4wp_form]
Maibock, Doppelbock, Eisbock, it’s bock-a-polooza on this episode. Today, we are looking at this delicious style of lager. Well, more than looking, probably drinking it too. So come in and have a drink!
Steve & Izzy discuss the 1987 movie (that oddly seems prophetic in today's day & age) "The Running Man" starring two governors, an NFL legend, two musical legends, an opera singer, a game show host & the great Sven Ole Thorsen. He's in jail for a crime that he didn't commit... and now he must overthrow the government... through the 74th Annual Hunger Games... wait, no... it's the world's highest rated TV show. Sorry, I'm getting my movies mixed up again. We also enjoy Primator Maibock & Weihenstephaner's Hefeweissbeer Dunkel (say that three times fast!). Enjoy!!!
In this episode the hosts change things up a little. Instead of tasting beers others have made, they take the opportunity to brew their own beer. Naturally, it's going to be a right hoppy beer, testified to by Alex's frequent interruptions during which he needs to add more hops to the brew. While the hosts are turning innocuous ingredients into beer via magic (science), they discuss the recent German festival Maifest at Spring Garden, which naturally features German beers, including a newly tapped keg of Maibock. They also ruminate on a special event they all went to recently, featuring a vertical of Utopias from Sam Adams (vintages 2012, 2013, and 2015), held at Aurora Brew Works. And of course, since they need something in the glasses, they are drinking a vertical of Alex's homebrewed barleywines during the episode.
In this episode of Brewing With Style, Jamil and Tasty discuss Maibock/Helles Bock, Category 5A in the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines. This awesome German style of beer is slightly toasty while remaining clean and easy to drink, even as its alcohol content is a little on the higher side. Listen in as the guys discuss their favorite commercial versions and how you can brew the perfect Maibock yourself!
In this episode, we discuss style 4C, Helles Bock or Maibock. Beers tasted include: Rogue Dead Guy (16:45) Rahr Bucking Bock (31:26) Abita Andygator (43:44) Plus, we play round 2 of "Beer Roulette" (52:48)

James and Steve taste a Maibock that has been fermenting and lagering for about three months. They also pair it with carrot cake.
In Episode 9 of Edacious, we meet Hunter Smith of Champion Brewery. Hunter is a brewmaster extraordinaire dedicated to experimenting and creating new flavors of beer and providing a comfortable space with which to enjoy them. He collaborates often with local chefs and his favorite musicians to bring you the most inventive, tasty brews around. I found his passion infectious. Champion Brewery is a meeting place with huge amounts of space inside and out to hang out, talk, and of course, sip your favorites including his Missile IPA, Megalodon, Maibock, Stickin' in my Rye IPA, and my personal favorite the Black Me Stout. For years, I've wished for a Downtown Mall meeting place slash beer garden. Champion delivers. In this interview we talk about all the great food trucks that converge here (a different one every night!) and of course the best pairings. How is starting a brewery like buying a house? Where did he take food writer Josh Ozersky for a burger when he was in town (before his untimely passing last month). Can I ever learn to like sour beer? What is the pig for Hunter's yearly Champion barbecue raised on? This and other important questions answered in Episode 9! I found Hunter to be engaging, thoughtful and you can hear his enthusiasm and fervor for his craft. I hope you enjoy it. Cheers! This episode is sponsored by In A Flash Laser.
Chris Colby, editor of Beer and Wine Journal, give us some tips on brewing Maibock to enjoy in warmer times. Also, Chris answers a couple of carbonation-related mailbag questions.
Jamil, Jon and Tasty discuss category 5A, Maibock, on this episode of Brewing With Style. Tune in and learn why this is one of Jamil's favorites, how you can brew it, and what commercial examples will put you on the right track.

This week on Beer Sessions Radio, Jimmy Carbone is joined by several Long Island brewers. We’ve got Mark Burford of Blue Point Brewing Co., John Liegey and Greg Soroski and of Greenport Harbor Brewing Co., Paul Dlugokencky from Blind Bat Brewery, and beer blogger Niko Krommydas. Hear Mark’s wild start in brewing- hiding from the “ice mob” and killing hundreds of Long Island trout. Hear about some famous Long Island beers, from Blue Point’s Toasted Lager to Greenport Harbor’s Maibock. Listen to these Long Islanders’ local beer pride, and the difficulties starting a brewery of any size on Long Island. Tune in to hear about these different brewing companies deal with their brewing waste- spent grain and “gray water”. This episode has been brought to you by GreatBrewers.com. “So as soon as the shotgun goes off at ten thousand feet, I’ve got this ringing and explosion going around my head with the nitrous and everything…and I said to myself, ‘I have to recreate this in a beer.” “Breweries are ‘green’ by nature…everything that goes in, goes out.” — Mark Burford on Beer Sessions Radio “We’re in a space now where we’re able to make the beers we want, we’re making them where we want to make them, and Long Island is the place we choose.” —John Liegey on Beer Sessions Radio
