Welcome to another episode of Actually, You Can! For this episode I had the absolute honour of interviewing none other than Chris Bond, father of two and two-time World Champion, two-time Paralympic Gold Medalist and the Captain of the Australian Wheelchair Rugby Team, the Steelers. Before Chris Bond was an international wheelchair rugby star, he was a 19-year-old battling acute promyelocytic leukaemia. He survived, but lost his left hand, right fingers and legs below the knees to a bacterial infection. Chris overcame these challenges and is now one of the best 3.5 wheelchair rugby players in the world living a life he once thought was no longer possible.Chris is an inspiring human in every sense of the word. If you've ever doubted the sheer impact of goal setting and finding your true purpose on the human spirit and your ability to create a life you could only have once dreamed of, then this episode is a must listen. Chris goes beyond being an incredible advocate for individuals living with disabilities. Together, we also explore what is possible for the collective when we are willing to wholeheartedly acknowledge and embrace each individual's distinctive strengths and gifts. My sincere hope is that this podcast is the catalyst you've been needing to finally take the time to understand what you value, and to set and go after your big goals because Actually, You Can.------------------------------------------------------------------------- MYF'S LINKSJoin my FREE Masterclass coming up in May: https://www.myfgalloway.com/strengthsmasterclassInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/myfgalloway/ Website: https://www.myfgalloway.com/

Hosted by Tim Gavel and three-time Olympic gold medallist Petria Thomas, this Clean And Gold episode features two-time Paralympic gold medallist Chris Bond and Olympic gold medallist Kim Brennan (nee Crow). Bond, whowas 19 when he was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia which resulted in amputation of both his legs below the knee, says it was the power of sport that helped him adjust to life with prosthetic limbs. “Sport's great at that,” he says. “It always has competition, year on year, and milestones in terms of testing and fitness and performance and that kind of thing. You go incrementally. You've got something to look forward to, something to compete at which has helped stay positive.” Bond also reminisces about being part of the “best wheelchair rugby match ever”, a double overtime win against Team USA to become a back-to-back Paralympic gold medallist, retirement, and the legacy he hopes to leave when his playing days are over. For Brennan, she says striving for Olympic gold changed her life. “Sport teaches you a huge amount of who you are and what you believe in,” she says. “The medal is wonderful, but it's the journey and striving that went into the medal that actually made me the person that I am and has given me opportunities beyond the rowing course.” Brennan, who won gold in the women's single scull after leading the race from start to finish, believes the athletes that adjust best to living in a bubble will succeed in Tokyo. “There's going to be a lot of idle times sitting in rooms, and that's something that those we are prepared and are comfortable in their own thoughts I think are going to be the ones who really relish the opportunity to get out there.” To wrap it up our athlete educator Bronwen Knox, soon to be a 4-time Olympian, gives her top tips for competing clean. There's an interesting side note to the Henes win that we share with you on the show. Florida State had a great softball season but unfortunately they came up short against top-ranked Oklahoma in the WCWS. The Seminoles return a young but experienced squad next season. Our colleague Chris Bond notes that now that they've held been in a position to hold the cup they'll be ready to drink from it in 2022. DONATE Bat Meet Ball The ACC had a great baseball season and sent 8 teams to the NCAA Regionals. Three of those teams made it to the Super Regionals including Notre Dame, a team that had a stupendous regular season that held incredible promise going into the post-season. The Irish couldn't muster enough to take the final game of the three-game series with Mississippi State and clinch a Super Regional spot. NC State captured the first spot in Bracket 1 of the CWS among conference teams. Later in the day Virginia fought back against a tenacious Dallas Baptist to make their way into Bracket 2. We outline the games that are coming up this weekend in Omaha. Find out the matchups, times and where you can watch coverage. Chris Bond is an awesome guy. He is a man of principles who makes rules for himself. He also likes to make rules to create "chaos" which is awesome! As a fan of operating in chaos, I enjoyed talking to him about everything.
We're chatting with Chris Bond from the the awesome Role to Cast podcast about boardgames, podcasting and why TTRPGs are more important than ever!

The Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) has created a survey to understand the financial, mental and physical health impacts on athletes and the support they now require as a result of COVID-19. The survey is open until 18th December, and aims to provide the ASF with a comprehensive insight into the toll that Covid-19 has taken on athletes’ finances, health, families and careers. A national survey conducted by the ASF earlier this year found that over 16,000 (1 in every 4) local sports clubs are at risk of closure due to financial losses and new costs associated with COVID-19. Chris Bond, a wheelchair rugby (murder ball) Paralympic gold medallist and Sports Partnership Manager at the ASF said “With travel restrictions, lockdowns, postponed and cancelled competitions, financial uncertainty and health implications, the pandemic has undoubtedly had a huge impact on athletes. As part of the community myself, I know how tough it has been. The Sports Foundation want to be able to go in and bat for athletes across Australia so we can get back to doing what we love, which is why we’re calling on all athletes to fill out this short survey to help us do just that.” The post Chris Bond – Australian Sports Foundation Athlete Manager appeared first on Mitchell's Front Page.
In this episode I catch up with my long time good friend, Chris Bond. He's a skilled hunter, great friend, great father, battles anxiety and nearly died from a heart attack in his early 30's. Hope you enjoy the conversion and as always thanks for listening. -Erbe-
