This Week on the Force Five Podcast:

Seven months after Shattered Space and on the watch for the next big update, Michael and Duane launch a new video episode to ask a simple question: just how far has Bethesda really come?‑ We break down a CBR article arguing why #Starfield finally “feels less empty” in 2025.‑ We geek out over two headline Creations—Darkstar (massive enemy‑scaling & ship‑tech overhaul) and TGS Galactic Harvest (deep farming, hunting, and cooking revamp).‑ We trace #Bethesda 's tech journey from #Oblivion 's load‑door dungeons to Creation Engine 2's global illumination, zero‑G physics, and near‑instant SSD streaming.‑ We speculate on seamless planetary travel, AI‑assisted world‑building, and whether a future Starfield TV series—or even a #PlayStation port—needs a full “2.0” makeover to happen. If you're curious about the game's hidden technical flexes, must‑try mods, or what Creation Engine might hold for Elder Scrolls VI, this episode is your warp‑drive primer.Get the podcast ad-free and early by supporting our Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/NormalPeopleGamingChat with us and other fans in our discord:https://discord.gg/3AX5nfqutdWhy You Should Go Back to Starfield in 2025https://www.cbr.com/starfield-return-replay-2025/Our Gamerscapes Channel:https://www.youtube.com/@GamerScapes-NormalPeopleNPG Podcast:https://open.spotify.com/show/22GyA3eKuoMFD6sBlObqeQ?si=ff18dc8190334cf9
This week, my brother and I are watching the 1981 movie, Spiderman: The Dragon's Challenge, a composite of two 1979 episodes of The Amazing Spider-Man where Peter Parker ends up in pre-handover Hong Kong protecting an influential Chinese diplomat. As far as we could tell, the live action Spider-Man show did not have that much to do with the comics and take a more realistic view of what a man in a spidersuit, albeit one with special powers, could realistically accomplish. The series is not available on Disney+, unlike many of the other Marvel properties, but you can watch the two year run (1977-1979) on Youtube for free. The last two episodes ("The Chinese Web") of the series (there are 13 total) form this movie, which oddly enough was only released internationally. Check out Jeremy's work over at Pixel Grotto, CBR.com, and Classic Batman Panels on IG. If you are of the DnD persuasion, his articles on DnD Beyond may be right up your alley, and you can view his entire portfolio here. You can also check out his latest book, where he is a co-author: Pathfinder Adventure Path: No Breath to Cry as well as an upcoming exploration TTRPG with Three Sail Studios, Mappa Mundi. Ding ding ding!!!! Ladies and gentlemen and children of all ages!!! Welcome to tonight's fights. We have a heck of a show for you with people punching people and hilarious hijinks. Hold onto your beer, cause it is going to get foamy. The 1985 film Gymkata set out to answer the question: is gymnastics a kick-ass martial arts style? The film then quickly answered that question with a resounding "no." Though Austin Powers eventually won the fight in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Mini Me definitely messed him up. The round two battle of Austin Powers in Goldmember, however, was all Austin. The fight scene from They Live is both epic and completely ludicrous. . Both men landed devastating blows, but no matter what, they kept getting up. Every time the fight seemed settled, it started back up again for another brutal round. No person could possibly take the beating Frank and Nada gave each other. The 2004 adaptation of The Punisher is a very dark tale of a man getting revenge for the murder of his family. The battle between Frank Castle and The Russian packs the punches and the laughs. Frank's gun is no good because the Russian bends the barrel, and even a grenade proves useless. The comedy comes from the question of what it takes to defeat the Russian. As it turns out, a pot of boiling water does the trick. The Clone Wars is often regarded as one of the weakest films in the Star Wars franchise, and part of that could be the completely ridiculous Anikan Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi lightsaber duel against Count Dooku. Obi-Wan is easily incapacitated and Anakin gets his hand cut off during some of the lamest choreography in the franchise. As if the fight wasn't silly enough, Yoda comes in to save the day, and none of his flips or moves is enough to defeat Dooku. Picking the funniest fight scene from Kung Fu Hustle is like choosing the most unsettling scene from Human Centipede; there are so many to select from. The Landlady and her husband, the Landlord, are Kung Fu masters, but they are no match for the legendary assassin, the Beast. Each ridiculous attack launched by the couple is thwarted by the Beast in an even more hysterical fashion. The fight plays out like a Three Stooges slapstick comedy with over-the-top martial arts violence. In the movie Airplane!, Captain Oveur inappropriately asks Joey if he likes movies about Gladiators, and the fight scene from Spartacus is almost certainly why. The 1960 Stanley Kubrick classic features plenty of oily combat that was more like dancing than fighting, but the Spartacus/Draba match-up was the least convincing. What was supposed to be a fight to the death looked more like two sweaty guys trying really hard not to hurt each other. All of this lazy choreography was sluggishly executed by grown men in diapers, making it one of the most unintentionally funny fight scenes in cinematic history. Of course, I am just cribbing from CBR (https://www.cbr.com/funny-movie-fight-scenes-ranked/). But that is because I am lazy.
Send us a textWhen does a human begin to exist? Students at major universities across the United States of America have difficulty committing to an answer to this question. Still, it isn't because they are dumb but because they are invested in the issue, just as cotton farmers were invested in slavery. Like the slave trade, the abortion issue will never go away until the hearts of the American people begin to see the violence of abortion. Today, I am on the campus of Clemson University with the Genocide Awareness Project, asking students whether or not they support the most significant modern-day genocide. But my interlocutor refuses to commit to a definition marker of humanity. To see CBR's images, visit: ➡️ https://abortionno.org/❤️ SHOW YOUR SUPPORT - LINKS BELOW...➡️ Email me: https://www.karlgessler.com/contact➡️ DONATE ➡️ Join our team!https://www.givesendgo.com/karlgesslerfamilybandhttps://www.patreon.com/karlgesslerhttps://cash.app/$KarlgesslerSocial Media➡️Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100089357625739➡️Telegram - https://t.me/FaithoftheFathers➡️Truth Social - https://truthsocial.com/@UCLOvq6O4aIXLrkKxwXkq3uA#abortionban #abolition #abolitionist #humanity #prolifegenerationSupport the show

This week, my brother and I are watching the 1992 movie, Army of Darkness. Both of us remember the movie poster from comic book ads from the time. (It's still not clear to me what the X shaped belt Ash is wearing if for ... I don't think he wears something like that in the actual film). It was my first time seeing in a few decades and Jeremy's first ever. We watched the director's cut (which you can view online), but after a few minutes, I realized that this version was somewhat different from the theatrical release I'd initially seen. The latter has a campier ending that is quite different (though I actually like it better). There are a number of different versions of this film, as discussed here.In the episode, we touch upon the 1970s Conan in NYC comics (see one of the covers here). See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week, my brother and I chatting in a rare, in-person meeting and, using my homebrew Rocketeer game demo as an example, talk about what makes video games enjoyable. When I started making this game a few years ago, my initial goal was not actually to make much of a game. It was it learn how to use the game making software I am using (GDevelop5). But once I got past the animations, story, and sprites, I kind of ran out of steam. This is what used to happen when I tried to make games back in college as well. I, to be honest, have never had a great track record with actually playing games - I only have found a few that I have enjoyed - so I have always been a bit puzzled about what makes games actually ... well, fun! Since I have been experimenting with a number of other ways to make games lately (e.g. text based, role playing, card based, etc), the same question comes up at lot. I'd actually like to finish the Rocketeer game I started and make it more than just a demo level showcasing some of the abilities the character has and how he can more about in the world of the game. That's the subject of this episode. Check out Jeremy's work over at Pixel Grotto, CBR.com, and Classic Batman Panels on IG. Happy 2025! This week, my brother and I are watching the 1990 movie, Darkman. This is our first time watching it, though we'd both heard of it, having grown up seeing ads in Nintendo Power for the video game. Just like Dick Tracy, which we did a number of episodes back and also had not seen, it has a certain pulpy, tongue in cheek vibe. In fact, it reminds me a little of the first Robocop. Climate Book Reviews is co-hosted by EvC's own Ed Whittingham and his friend Roger Thompson, Associate Dean and Professor of Writing and Rhetoric at Stony Brook University in New York. Each episode highlights some climate related books worth knowing about. This episode is an interview with New Zealand author Kirsten McDougall about her novel, She's a Killer. At times hilarious and at other times troubling, the book is set in the not-too-distant future and features a near genius with sociopathic tendencies facing the realities of her severely climate impacted world. This week, my brother and I are watching the 1990 movie, Dick Tracy. This is our first time watching it, though we'd both heard of it, having grown up watching the cartoon and remembering the spring/summer of 1990, when there's was lots of Dick Tracy stuff about. Absolute Wonder Woman #1 drops today, and we have its writer, Kelly Thompson, in the hot seat! After graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a degree in Sequential Art (how cool is that?!), Kelly started as a writer about comics, doing reviews and a column for CBR, but moved into the industry proper with a long run on IDW's Jem and the Holograms. Then it was on to Marvel, where she tackled a number of amazing titles, including Captain Marvel and the Carol Corps (with Kelly Sue DeConnick), Hawkeye (Kate Bishop version), Rogue & Gambit, Mr. and Mrs. X, Jessica Jones, more Captain Marvel, West Coast Avengers, and Black Widow (to name a few). She's also worked on creator-owned comics Black Cloak and The Cull with Substack/Image, Sabrina the Teenage Witch for Archie, and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink for Boom! And now, she's sinking her teeth into Absolute Wonder Woman in addition to Birds of Prey at DC.You can follow Kelly on her site, 1979semifinalist.com, on Instagram @1979semifinalist, and on X @79SemiFinalist. _____________________Check out a video version of this episode on our YouTube channel: youtube.com/dollarbinbandits.If you like this podcast, please rate, review, and subscribe on Apple Podcasts. Sadly, a bunch of our favorite shows are ending sooner than we would like them to, but that's okay! All good things must come to an end! But this got Aaron and Tyler wondering, who's going to carry the next generation? Let us know who you think! All news is brought to us via CBR, Crunchyroll and Anime News Network!
Today we'll kick things off in hour one with Brad Keithley from Alaskans for Sustainable Budgets who brings us the Weekly Top 3. This weeks topics: SBR, CBR, PFD and now the corpus; what the oil/gas industry isn't telling us; the K12 lobby is not even pretending to care about "who pays" anymore. Then in hour two we'll recap with some of my thoughts about these and other headlines, as well as open up the phone lines for today and see who you're voting for.
