"John Crawley, a four-year standout for the Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team from 2014-17 and most recently an assistant coach at Lehigh, was appointed the Blue Jays' offensive coordinator on June 2, 2022.  In addition to running the Blue Jay offense, Crawley also serves as the program's recruiting coordinator. Crawley's return to Homewood came after spending the previous three years as an assistant coach at Lehigh University.  At Lehigh, Crawley served as the offensive coordinator of a Mountain Hawk offense that ranked among the nation's best throughout his tenure.  Lehigh ranked 15th in the nation in scoring offense during the COVID-shortened 2020 season (14.00) and jumped into the top 10 in 2021 (14.08), when the Mountain Hawks advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2013. Overall, during Crawley's 33 games as Lehigh's offensive coordinator, the Mountain Hawks averaged just under 13 goals per game and the three single-season scoring averages of 14.08, 14.00 and 11.40 rank as the three highest averages at Lehigh in the last 20 years.  Prior to Crawley's arrival, Lehigh had not averaged more than 11 goals per game over the course of a season since 2000. Crawley began his coaching career at Notre Dame in 2018 and helped the Irish to the ACC Tournament title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.  At Notre Dame, he worked closely with the offense and faceoff unit.  He then moved to Colgate for one season (2019) before joining the staff at Lehigh. A two-time captain and two-time Honorable Mention USILA All-American, Crawley played in all 64 games during his four-year career at Johns Hopkins and started the final 30 as a junior and senior.  He totaled 70 career goals and 30 assists, including career highs of 21 goals and 11 assists for 32 points as a sophomore in 2015, when he helped lead the Blue Jays to the NCAA Semifinals and the inaugural Big Ten Tournament title.  He earned a spot on the 2015 NCAA All-Tournament team after a four-goal performance against Maryland in the NCAA Semifinals. In addition to his time at Johns Hopkins, Crawley has also played professional lacrosse in both Major League Lacrosse and the Premier Lacrosse League.  He was selected 33rd overall by the Charlotte Hounds in the 2017 MLL Draft and played two seasons for the Hounds.  He rang up 26 goals and 10 assists in the MLL before moving to Atlas LC in the PLL, where he has played four seasons." David Manning is the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Loyola University Men's Lacrosse team as well as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist at Training House gym in Baltimore, MD. In addition to his coaching roles, Manning is the founder and owner of Pure Performance Lab. Originally looking to pursue a career in the medical field, Manning shifted gears and kept involved in his other passion, lacrosse, coaching for multiple programs at different capacities including at Cambridge High School, Bridgewater College, Viewpoint High School, and for the Santa Monica Dragons. While coaching lacrosse, he took up an interest in the strength and conditioning side of the game; where he finds himself presently. Manning's coaching career is well suited for him after a highly successful collegiate career playing as a close defenseman on the Loyola University men's lacrosse team, where he as a freshman won the 2012 Division 1 National Championship and was a team captain his senior season for a return run in the final four. Following his collegiate career, Manning was Drafted 43rd overall to the New York Lizards and has been a part of the Charlotte Hounds (2017-2018), Atlanta Blaze (2019) and the Philadelphia Barrage (2020) of Major League Lacrosse. Following his professional lacrosse career, Manning is still heavily involved in lifting, using his own training to stay healthy, apply theoretical knowledge, and test out new programs before implementing them with his athletes at the youth, high school, collegiate and professional levels. Cerberus Strength Use Code: STRENGTH_GAME at Cerberus-Strength.com

In our latest episode, Mackey is live with Coach James Stagnitta, Head Coach of the Charlotte Hounds Major League Lacrosse team. Coach dives into his career and shares with us this idea that coaching is different than leading. Coach explains that as he grew and developed as a coach, he grew as a leader as well. It's one thing to put people in set and tell them what to do, and it's another thing to truly develop them and lead them, then it's a lot easier to get them to do things as a group and collective unit. Coach goes on to talk about culture and what the process for creating a team culture looks like for a professional organization. Coach says, "A good culture can make an average team very good, and a bad culture can break down a great team." Coach shares some advice he would've given himself as a first year coach knowing what he knows now. He shares a little about empathy and putting yourself into you player's position by asking more questions and understanding what they're going through a little more instead of assuming how they feel and what they're going through.
