Taylor has a lot of off-the-wall questions for Fr. Anthony Sciarappa. How do celibate priests feel about married priests? Why do Catholics have to be so weird sometimes(ex. misspell normal words)? And finally, Taylor tries to trap Fr. Anthony in a question about Heaven. Fun! They also introduce a brand new game that you'll either love or hate called "Read my Lips." They take turns explaining basic Catholic terms to each other, but the twist is, the other person has their volume turned all the way down so it's all based on reading the lips of the other person. This game was hilarious to play. We're interested to hear if you love or hate it lol. Thanks for listening! What does the future hold for Virtual Reality?... for Artificial Intelligence? Talk to the business world and they're chomping at the bit to take advantage of disruptions like these. But what of the church world? As a general rule, we're more skeptical of these innovations. Is the skepticism warranted? Or are we missing an opportunity? This is where Christopher Benek comes in. As Lead Pastor at First Presbyterian Miami, he understands the value of our buildings. A Historical Landmark in the heart of Downtown Miami (located right on Biscayne Bay), First Pres' is one of the highest valued church properties in all of Miami. But is the property effective in making disciples tomorrow? Today? This is where the conversation takes us. Christopher waxes theoretic a bit, and tells us about some of the new developments coming out of the ChVRch+ platform, and how churches of today need to prepare for tomorrow's challenges. Jesus our Warrior has won the victory and the Church stands with him in the armor of God.
The Church’s submission to Jesus as Lord and center of our lives is the model for all Christian relationships.
As immitators of Jesus, the Church is called to walk under a new influence.
Being fully clothed in Christ, we are called to live out our new identify with a distinct lifestyle from who we used to be and set apart from the world.
Being already blessed in the Beloved, the Body now grows into behavior that reflects how Christ is building His church.
In Christ and through the church, our unique cultural, ethnic and personal distinctions preach a cosmic sermon to our spiritual enemies.
The universal storyline of all existence hinges on these two words–but God–putting on display His gracious initiative and creative power.
We were made to live in wonder of God's eternal purpose, power, and privilege demonstrated through His church.
In Christ, we have already received everything that we ever need to be what He has called us to be.

Jim teaches us the hierarchical structure of the church because Marie doesn't know what a General Authority is, and be advised that Duke of Earl Grey is now the show's General Authority (woo hoo!). Joseph Smith repeats a semblance of the 10 commandments, and really that's it. Turns out going to the Bishop to confess is a Thing that happens, and apparently we're supposed to be happy when we're fasting. It's bad to be wasteful and don't be a jerk, and be an environmentalist. Got questions? Scoot, god doesn't have time for them. Job is a man/chapter in the Bible. I swear I learned a song in Sunday School that used the verse "love the lord thy god with all they heart", but I couldn't find one with a familiar tune, so really all I did was royally mess up my YouTube video recommendations. I recommend listening to anything from Chvrches, they're pretty cool, and you can say "I'm listening to Chvrch music!" The 2nd Capital City Records Song of the Week - "The Good Lord's Concrete Weighs" by I Am Machi, as chosen by Kris Harvey, operating partner at The Chvrch of John. Hear it in Kris' words how I Am Machi's sound defies their two-piece makeup and embodies what it means to be an Edmontonian.
Just as light is born out of darkness, LUNA’s life has humbled her into following her heart in the arts initiating a voyage that will lead her to her own light. Growing up with the classic sounds of the 70’s and 80’s top hits intertwined with her musical finds within the metal and hardcore genres, LUNA steered into a world of negativity after exposing herself to the sounds of these particular genres. After many life experiences, she decided to seek her light and discovered the darker sounds of techno. LUNA dove deep into learning all that she could which lead her into earning a spot in two different collectives in San Diego. At this point she started her duo, ALICE, with KARMA. She became one of the four core members of DIVINITY, a dark techno collective from San Diego who have booked artists such as Halo Varga, David Scuba, Noël Jackson, Carlo Lio and many more. Furthermore, LUNA earned her first weekly residency in November of 2015. She now runs CHVRCH alongside KARMA, a Sunday night residency showcasing house and techno at the AC Lounge in North Park. These days LUNA is an artist that stands on her own two feet. She keeps fueling her soul as she learns to embrace her light. We're very honored to be featuring LUNA as our next guest! Tracklist: 01. Ryan and Matt consider Chvrches and their debut LP “The Bones of What You Believe,” addressing songs vs. pieces of music, the blasphemy of mixing genres, and the importance of sucking for a long time. Episode 80: The Chvrch of The Chemical Brothers of Latter Day Saints originally appeared on Overthinking It, the site subjecting the popular culture to a level of scrutiny it probably doesn't deserve.
