This week I welcome Roach Koach host Matt Naas to the podcast as we dig into Circle of Dust's 1994 album Brainchild, or where I come from 1992's debut album Mindwarp by Brainchild. Matt and I talk about Industrial music in the early 90's and how Matt feels Brainchild stacks up to hits contemporaries at the time. I bring up how early childhood church going influenced my obsession with “scary” extreme Christian music.Follow DFT'S DungeonPatreon: https://bit.ly/3UlV4puFacebook: https://bit.ly/3qWDApMTwitter: https://bit.ly/3DDa50fInstagram: https://bit.ly/3UioAwoYoutube: https://bit.ly/3LmRqYmSpotify: https://spoti.fi/3RVbOCnLast.FM: https://bit.ly/3qKGVVmEmail: dftdungeon@gmail.comJoin the DFT Dungeon Discord Server!https://discord.gg/ADVqFYpT6qhttps://www.dftdungeon.com

It's a classic two albums episode of the podcast this week, and there's a pretty wide gulf between our selections. The melting-pot approach to industrial rock taken on Circle Of Dust's Disengage, incorporating nu metal, breaks, and plenty other alternative sounds of the 90s is very far removed from the oppressive and bleak approach to post-punk taken by Porl King's In Death It Ends project on Forbidden Knowledge. We're also talking about the news emerging from the Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails camps.
Black metal and industrial music may not go together. But, Samael challenges that notion and brings us a discography filled with extreme vocals, programmed drums, hellish tremolo picking and so much more. Is it all a great combination? Maybe, a lot of it is. On this episode of Discography Discussion Dan and Joe give their thoughts on the strange evolution of this band. Chapter 106: "Where The Mosh Pit Meets The Dance Floor" ...as read by Klank Meet Daren Diolosa, the one and only Klank. Listen as Mr. Klank leads us through the early days of Circle Of Dust all the way up to being bitten by a rattlesnake and almost dying last year. How'd he get his name? In here. How he met his wife at the circus? Yep. Dug Pinnick slept on his couch for a week? You betcha. Signed with Tooth And Nail in blood? No joke. Some of his wildest stories? Yessirs we gots 'em. Plus we go track by track for his newest release "Rise". Klank you very much. http://klanknation.com Chapter 106 Music: Circle Of Dust: "Deviate" Argyle Park: "Headscrew" Klank's 2017 album "Rise" in it's entirety: "Bring Me Down' "Better Place" "The Beast Within" "Only Human" "Rise" "These4walls" "De-Volve" "Manipulation" "Till The End" "The Damage" "Something About You" (featuring Dug Pinnick of King's X) As The Story Grows links: Help out at Patreon Follow on Twitter See what we're doing at Lavirra Productions ATSG Website ATSG Music and Merch Leave some feedback at iTunes Join the Email List ATSG Facebook Email: asthestorygrows@gmail.com
Chapter 79: "Burning Ships (Part One)" ...as read by Doug Mann, founder of R.E.X. Music I FOUND HIM! Douglas C Mann! Ok...Bruce Fitzhugh found him. Ok...he's on Facebook so he wasn't exactly hiding. Anyways I am joined by guest host Bruce of Living Sacrifice to speak to the legendary Doug Mann who founded R.E.X Music just after his time in the Coast Guard with $1,200, preceding Tooth And Nail by around seven years. Doug has decided this is his first, last and only interview that he will do concerning R.E.X. so I thank him for letting it unfold on my show. However, as you will hear...it isn't bad blood. I think there was more mystery and drama surrounding it then it deserved. Either way, THIS is the place to hear it and thank you Doug for taking the time. Really fun conversation; Bruce and Doug just run off and hijack the first half! Great Psychoboy studio story. This was a long one so we're gonna split this one in half. Bruce had to leave halfway through so next week there's no guest host...it's just me and Douglas C Mann. This one is definitely R.E.X. heavy and next week is a little more personal about him. Enjoy! Go be Dougs' friend: https://www.facebook.com/douglas.c.mann DJ, call me. It's time. Chapter 79 Music: Celebrating some of my favorite R.E.X. selections. I'm thirteen again. Living Sacrifice: "Enthroned" (from Non-Existent during Dougs' tenure at R.E.X.) Sacrament: "Testimony Of Apocalypse" (LOVED this album.) Believer: "Unite" (demo from 1987 (love that "tape hiss") then a little from the Extraction From Mortality LP) Living Sacrifice: "Breathing Murder" (SPITE! Haha. It'll make sense in context.) DC Talk: "Jesus Freak" (Doug worked A and R for one of the biggest Christian releases ever. That's a thing.) Iona: "Treasure" (from the album "Beyond These Shores, which Doug worked on with the band at Forefront.) Circle Of Dust: "Deviate: Metamorphosis Remix" (this was after Doug but it was a HUGE album for R.E.X.) On this episode of INSIDE MUSIC, host James Shotwell connects with James Rhodes of FiXT Records. Rhodes planned on spending his life behind the boards as a music engineer/mix, but his love of artists like Circle Of Dust and Celldweller lead him down a path that now finds him helping lead one of the most exciting independent labels in the country. James and James discuss Rhodes' history in the business, as well as the way the Fixt team works to maintain their brand's unique place in the world of music.
Greetings! Welcome to the episode that almost killed Billy Power! Ladies, gents, Cellmates... in an ironic twist we overcome our obsession over the technical aspects of good podcast audio to bring you a conversation with master producer Klayton Scott, the artist behind Celldweller & the foundation of independent media company FiXT - crafting aural masterpieces since the days of Circle of Dust, Brainchild and Argyle Park, we attempt to brave the unknown realm of... a decent sounding podcast. It was hard fought and won, but we hope you enjoy! Songs featured on this episode: CHATTERbOX - Soul Scum; AP2 - My Sympathies; Celldweller - End of an Empire
