This month we're back to the mid 80s to talk about our favourite songs of 1986, including thrash metal classics, proto-industrial stompers, enormous pop bangers, massive cheesy 80s soundtrack rock and loads more. We've each chosen our 10 favourite songs of the year and sent them over to Colin's wife Helen, who put the playlists together and distributed them so we were each given a playlist of the 20 songs from the other two hosts, along with our own 10. We then ranked the playlists in order of preference and sent them back to Helen, who totalled up the points and worked out the order. She also joined us on the episode to read out the countdown, which we found out as we recorded so all reactions are genuine. Now, admittedly, in parts we're a little bit brutal to some of the songs in the list as we're three separate people with differing music tastes, but please remember that to be in this episode at all the songs have to have been in one of our top 10's of that year.Bands featured in this episode include (In alphabetical order, no spoilers here!) - a-ha, The Art Of Noise ft Max Headroom, Big Black, The Bolshoi, Bon Jovi, Billy Bragg, Stan Bush, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Crowded House, Cutting Crew, Europe, The Go-Betweens, Bruce Hornsby & The Range, The Housemartins, Hüsker Dü, In The Nursery, Iron Maiden, KMFDM, Kenny Loggins, Merzbow, Metallica, New Order, Public Image Ltd, R.E.M., Lionel Richie, Shub Niggurath, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Slayer, The Smiths, & They Might Be Giants.Find all songs in alphabetical order here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2SmV87RMDnpidlUpn4m7lU?si=Ssrrhy8iRtCgFXSP9-QXug&pi=p67BZNXETwqB5Find our We Dig Music Pollwinners Party playlist (featuring all of the winning songs up until now) here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/45zfDHo8zm6VqrvoEQSt3z?si=Ivt0oMj6SmitimvumYfFrQIf you want to listen to megalength playlists of all the songs we've individually picked since we started doing best of the year episodes (which need updating but I plan on doing them over the next few months or so), you can listen to Colin's here – https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5x3Vy5Jry2IxG9JNOtabRT?si=HhcVKRCtRhWCK1KucyrDdgIan's here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2H0hnxe6WX50QNQdlfRH5T?si=XmEjnRqISNqDwi30p1uLqAand Tracey's here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2p3K0n8dKhjHb2nKBSYnKi?si=7a-cyDvSSuugdV1m5md9NwThe playlist of 20 songs from the other two hosts was scored as usual, our favourite song got 20 points, counting down incrementally to our least favourite which got 1 point. The scoring of our own list of 10 is now slightly more complicated in order to give a truer level of points to our own favourites. So rather than them only being able to score as many points as our 10th favourite in the other list, the points in our own list were distributed as follows -1st place - 20 points2nd place - 18 points3rd place – 16 points4th place – 14 points5th place – 12 points6th place – 9 points7th place – 7 points8th place – 5 points9th place – 3 points10th place -1 pointHosts - Ian Clarke, Colin Jackson-Brown & Tracey BGuest starring Helen Jackson-Brown.Playlist compiling/distributing – Helen Jackson-BrownRecorded/Edited/Mixed/Original Music by Colin Jackson-Brown for We Dig PodcastsThanks to Peter Latimer for help with the scoring system.Part of the We Dig Podcasts network along with Free With This Months Issue & Pick A Disc.Bluesky - https://bsky.app/profile/wedigmusic.bsky.socialInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/wedigmusicpcast/Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/wedigpusicpcast/Find our other episodes & podcasts at www.wedigpodcasts.com

We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. This weekly broadcast examines current events from across the globe to learn what's happening in all areas of people activity. We cultivate Counter-Racist Media Literacy by scrutinizing journalists' word choices and using logic to deconstruct what is reported as "news." We'll use these sessions to hone our use of terms as tools to reveal truth, neutralize Racists/White people. #ANTIBLACKNESS This week in Wisconsin, 15-year-old White female Natalie Rupnow opened fired at the Abundant Life school and killed one teacher and one student. She reportedly shot herself. Predictably, Rupnow is a Columbine "fangirl" who cosplayed as Eric Harris while skeet shooting in Wisconsin. Importantly, a White Man in Carlsbad, California is being investigated for communicating with Rupnow and plotting his own terrorist attack with improvised explosive devices. We'll also discuss the FDA's consideration of prohibiting Red dye No. 3. We've discussed food toxins like this and high fructose corn syrup on previous C.O.W.S. programs. Avoiding genetically modified foods and fake food colorings are important components of healthy eating. #TurnerDiaries#TheCOWS16Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

An original member of KMFDM, producer, musician and singer Raymond Watts has been ensconced in the electronic and industrial music scenes for going on five decades. His own project PIG started out far more raw and aggressive, but over time Watts evolved the sound and eventually found a home on Trent Reznor's NOTHING label for the 1996 release of Sinsation (released the previous year in Japan only). With nods to Reznor's Nine Inch Nails and fellow industrial metal act Ministry, among others, Sinsation adds some unexpected and well-placed orchestra and horn samples to give the album a cinematic feel that would sound appropriate backing a dystopian science fiction film.   Songs In This Episode Intro - Hamstrung on the Highway 16:01 - The Sick 22:04 - Serial Killer Thriller 30:31 - Transceration 35:48 - Hot Hole Outro - Paniac   Support the podcast, join the DMO UNION at Patreon. I had a conversation with legendary guitarist MARK GEMINI THWAITE (MGT) regarding his music, collaborations and upcoming events.Born in Birmingham, England, MGT has been the guitarist and collaboration for a number of English rock bands and artists over the last two decades, including The Mission, Peter Murphy, Tricky, Spear of Destiny, Raymond Watts (PIG), Theatre of Hate, Ashton Nyte, Mob Research (with Paul Raven of Killing Joke), and Canadian band National Velvet plus various live and recorded appearances with Gary Numan, Al Jourgensen of Ministry, Revolting Cocks, Roger Daltrey, P.J. Harvey, Alanis Morissette, Combichrist, Primitive Race, Black Star Riders, Ginger of The Wildhearts, Stan Lee of Marvel Comics, Franz Treichler of The Young Gods and Ville Valo of HIM and so much more.In 2016 MGT signed a solo album deal with German label SPV records and releases his first solo album, "Volumes" under his MGT acronym at the end of June worldwide. The lead single, "Knowing Me Knowing You", a cover version of the ABBA classic featuring guest vocalist Ville Valo of HIM, was released in April and viewed over half a million times in two months - mixed by Tim Palmer (HIM/David Bowie). Valo is not the only guest musician on "Volumes", other appearances include Wayne Hussey of Mark's previous band The Mission, Miles Hunt and Erica Nockalls of UK band The Wonder Stuff, Ricky Warwick of Black Star Riders / Thin Lizzy, Raymond Watts (PIG, KMFDM), Saffron (Republica), Julianne Regan (All About Eve), and Ashton Nyte (The Awakening).https://www.markthwaite.comQUEEN OF WANDS with DJ Nocturna Every Saturday on ModSnap Radio | KMOD: San Antonio3pm (HST), 5pm (PST), 6pm (MST), 7pm (CST), 8pm (EST)Radio: https://modsnapradio.comThank you for liking and subscribing and THANK YOU for your continued support !

Phew!  We'll get back on track ASAP - there's a few episodes waiting to be put together, and the Garage Hour goons are on it.  This show's pretty gearhead: a prayer for John Force, whose funny car wasn't very (just add kerploding), a chat w/ our old buddy David Lozeau about how Jap cars, trucks and bikes parts were freakin' perfect in the '90s, how Toyota's fighting with bureaucrats about testing standards in the 2020s, why Ford's first-gearing F-150s are failing while Chrysler's reverse cameras don't see much, and why batteries and electric cars are running out of ways to pretend they're viable.  Sources include Breitbart, Yahoo, Asia News and Cowboy State Daily... While we're in there: Challenger 4-8-8-4 4014 is once again roaming the Midwest (apparently pulling the city of Cheyenne behind it), Pennsylvanians put $10 million in the garbage, and an excellent weirdo sendoff for "Kelly's Heroes" standout Donald Sutherland, plus Prodigy, Josh Wink, Chemical Bros., Prong, Orbital and KMFDM.

The boys review the latest from industrial music legends KMFDM, KMFDM - Rocks: Milestones Reloaded. The album, a personal "best-of" compilation by KMFDM protagonists and masterminds Sascha Konietzko and Lucia Cifarelli, who claim the re-imagined, re-mixed pieces would be an "ideal playlist for a live set," commemorates the band's 32nd anniversary.Ranging from remixes by Bradley Bills of CHANT to producer/musician extraordinary Marco Trentacoste and Sascha Konietzko himself, the re-worked versions extract the essence of KMFDM's music and, at the same time, place new emphases. In true KMFDM tradition, "Rocks" bears all the band's trademarks: the (mostly) five letters commonly used in the title, as well as the iconic graphics of Aidan Hughes a.k.a. BRUTE!, which are reminiscent in the style of early Soviet Constructivism propaganda.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network. Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76 alsoFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76

"Let Go" Formed by braintrust Sascha Konietzko in Germany and Paris in 1984, KMFDM got their start as a performance art project but it didn't take long for their propulsive industrial rhythms to establish them as one of the most dynamic bands around. Over the course of their career they've toured the world, sold millions of records and unleashed an uninterrupted string of classic albums like 1986's What Do You Know, Deutschland?, 1990's Naive, 2002's Attak and their brilliant new one Let Go. KMFDM's albums are always a blast of unbridled energy and Let Go is no exception--it's a dynamic blend of crunchy electronica, cascading metal riffs and lashing industrial beats and all combining to make one of the most ferociously danceable albums of 2024. As far as branding consistency goes, it gets no better than KMFDM, whose unmistakable and inimitable sleeves have been done by artist Aidan Brute Hughes, whose work captures the ferocious energy and belief system of the band. And what of that belief system? Well, let's just say it's a continued railing against oppression, censorship, war and violence. Not too shabby, right? Now, KMFDM are really a musical collective so they've had a revolving door of members; the Long Island-born singer Lucia Cifarelli joined the band in 2002 and close to 25 years later, she's still there. Married to Konietzko, the two have forged an enduring creative and romantic partnership. A singer of tremendous power and range, Cifarelli was the former singer of Drill, whose lone album for A&M in the '90s was one I listened to a lot. She's one of those performers who was put on this planet with instant artistic force--she sings with muscle and finesse and like a great baseball pitcher, the best way to describe her is as someone who's got the stuff. www.kmfdm.net www.luciacifarelli.com www.bombshellradio.com www.stereoembersmagazine.com www.alexgreenbooks.com X: @emberseditor IG: @emberspodcast Email: editor@stereoembersmagazine.com

KMFDM, the multinational musical project from Hamburg, Germany is led by the legendary producer Sascha Konietzko  who founded the band in 1984. Their early albums were recorded in Germany before moving to the USA, where they found much greater success with Chicago-based seminal record label Wax Trax ! Throughout the 90's, KMFDM constantly evolved with a revolving door line-up, becoming a household name in the US music scene. Their 1995 hit 'Juke Joint Jezebel' catapulted KMFDM into the Billboard charts and got them onto many movie soundtracks, notably 'Bad Boys' and 'Mortal Kombat'. Bands like Rammstein and Korn had their humble beginnings opening on KMFDM tours. Celebrating 40 years of conceptual continuity in grand style! LET GO marks the group's 23rd studio album,  released on Metropolis Records  with the core lineup of Sascha “Käpt'n K” Konietzko, Lucia Cifarelli, Andy Selway, and Andee Blacksugar presenting their signature onslaught of pulse-pounding rhythms, scorching electronics, blistering guitars, and vocals full of grit, growl, and grind addressing the social, political, and cultural ills of a world in perpetual turmoil. The Context of White Supremacy hosts The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly Compensatory Call-In. #ANTIBLACKNESS The first Compensatory Call-In of the "new" year airs on a special day and takes time to recognize the passing of Dr. Kamau Kambon. One of The C.O.W.S.'s most important guests, Dr. Kambon wrote more than a dozen non-fiction books, taught students, and dedicated the bulk of his life currency to studying and working to permanently solve The Problem. #BlackLiberationFromWhiteTerrorDomination Additionally, we'll discuss "resignation"/termination of the first black president of Harvard University, Dr. Claudine Gay. In an op-ed for The New York Times, Dr. Gay alleged she's been called Racist slurs and threatened. In Iowa a 17-year-old White gunman attacked a middle school and killed one 6th grade student. Several others were wounded. Reports indicate officers located and removed an explosive device from the school. The gunman allegedly was a fan of KMFDM, which is the same German band the Columbine kids adored. Former Preisdent Donald J. Trump's 2024 president campaign is reving up, and he's already promising pardons for his JAnuary 6th insurrectionists and "retribution" to those who removed him from power. #CaitlinClarkNotTheOnlyIowaShooter INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 7th study session on Sue Klebold's A Mothers' Reckoning. Published nearly 20 years after the notorious 1999 Columbine High School massacre, where 13 people were killed, Mrs. Klebold is the White mother of Dylan Klebold - one of the cowardly White killers. After spending years in silence, Klebold stepped center stage to share her anguish over losing her child and her perspective on her child's attempt to slaughter hundreds of his classmates while disintegrating the high school. Denver Public Radio reports the book has generated over $400,000 for numerous mental health groups. They have no evidence of payments to Mrs. Klebold. Last week, Sue began detailing Dylan's turbulent junior year at Columbine. He and Eric were arrested, and Sue suggests they took the episode seriously. They allegedly reduced the boys contact with each other for a period after chatting with the Harrises. Sue even makes time to address the diversion form where it states that her older son Byron was booted from the house for narcotics. In the memoir she says this was a mutually agreed upon decision without rancor. She continues to heap all the blame on Eric - following the trend of labeling him a psychopath, while insisting Dylan was a sad victim of peer pressure and bullying. Sue mentions the Regina Huerter report on the culture of Columbine High School, but skillfully omits the line about students thinking Dylan and Eric were "mean and rude." #Sparky #TheCOWS14Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 720.716.7300 CODE: 564943#

We had the pleasure of interviewing Tanith over Zoom video!Formed in 2017, the band embraced that era wholeheartedly, resulting in 2019's aptly titled In Another Time, which instantly earned cult status and put them on the map. Now, they return with Voyage, picking up where they left off and once again demonstrating their mastery when it comes to this niche. "I wanted more of the same but different in some marginal way," explains vocalist/guitarist Russ Tippins (also of Satan). "Voyage is the sound of the universe speaking to mankind through the medium of Tanith. Or, if you like, twin-guitar heavy rock with dual singers which, if you grew up in the 1970s, will make you want to bounce over to the nearest record store. On a space hopper."While their debut came together easily, this time around there were hurdles to overcome, first and foremost the COVID-19 lockdown, which geographically split up the band, Tippins living in the UK while vocalist/bassist Cindy Maynard and drummer Keith Robinson dwelt in Brooklyn. Once life finally returned to "normal" and they were ready to record, they were hit by another bombshell with guitarist Charlie Newton abruptly bowing out of the band the day before tracking began."Speaking as one part of a two-guitar band, it felt like trying to fly with one wing," says Tippins. "It happened so suddenly we were dumbstruck. I guess we sat around for a few days thinking he was sure to walk through the door at any moment. But soon enough we realized we'd have to try to find a way to make this record without Charlie and I'm not just talking about laying down his lines. It's about the shared dream we had with him. The conviction he brought to that dream. The four-way belief now reduced to three."Returning to Brooklyn's Excello Recording and engineer Hugh Pool — the same combination used for tracking In Another Time — the band produced the album themselves, with Pool mixing. The sessions were a fun time for Tanith, again recording to tape rather than digital and utilizing vintage amps and speakers to find the best possible sounds for the instruments. "Just having the time every day all day to be in the music was a big deal and all of our energy went into this project even after leaving the studio," says Maynard. "We were thinking and breathing the music, constantly working on parts and ideas. We came in well prepared overall, and that gave us time to try out different sounds for different parts to get just the thing we were looking for." Given that they established themselves as a twin-guitar band on their debut they also brought in an extra player, Andee Blacksugar, best known for touring with Peter Murphy and as a member of KMFDM, now also a member of Blondie, who Robinson had played with before. With the record fully realized, the band are eager for people to hear it, and they are confident that it is worth taking the time to listen to it — and experience it — in all its old school glory. Tippins says, "I can think of only two other rock bands in the entire world right now that records onto 24-track analog tape. If all you've ever known is digitally produced music you really need to listen to Voyage on vinyl and experience the difference. And I'm not talking about vinyl pressed from masters recorded on Pro Tools. At no point from tracking to pressing has any of the music on Voyage been digitized. It will open your eyes."We want to hear from you!
