Mark Weiss is an acclaimed American rock ‘n' roll photographer whose lens has captured some of the most iconic moments in music history. Rising to prominence in the late 1970s and 1980s, Weiss became a go-to visual chronicler for the era's biggest hard rock and heavy metal acts. His photographs—often featured in Circus, Hit Parader, and album covers—helped define the look and attitude of the glam metal scene.Weiss's portfolio includes legendary artists such as Bon Jovi, Ozzy Osbourne, Van Halen, Mötley Crüe, Guns N' Roses, KISS, and Aerosmith, among many others. His ability to blend candid backstage shots with larger-than-life stage imagery made his work both intimate and epic, perfectly matching the excess and energy of the time.In addition to magazines and publicity shoots, Weiss created some of the most memorable album artwork and promotional images of the '80s and '90s. His career spans decades, and he has remained active, photographing modern acts while preserving the legacy of rock's golden years. In 2020, he released The Decade That Rocked, a coffee-table book showcasing his extensive archive from the 1980s. The book received praise for its vivid storytelling and rare behind-the-scenes photos, cementing Weiss's role as one of the premier visual historians of rock music.Today, Mark Weiss continues to share his work through exhibitions, books, and collaborations, keeping the spirit of rock alive for new generations while honoring the legends he helped immortalize. In this episode of Media Core Minute, Josh sits down with Peter Dokken, a real estate expert with a fresh perspective on homebuilding. But this isn't about luxury homes or massive budgets; we're talking about realistic options for first-time homebuyers. Peter breaks down how building your own home in 2025 might actually be more affordable than buying, especially in today's market. They cover common misconceptions, where the real cost savings are, and how young buyers or growing families can take advantage of opportunities in new construction. If you're thinking about buying a home or just trying to figure out what makes the most sense financially, this is a conversation worth listening to.
A sad show today, remembering the life of Ozzy Osbourne. Chaz and AJ spoke with Zakk Wylde back in March, about his excitement in joining the Ozzy farewell show. (0:00) Jimi Bell was one of the very last guitarist tryouts to be considered for the band, before Zakk Wylde was the selection. Jimi was on the phone with Chaz this morning to talk about the tryout process, having dinner with Ozzy, and jamming with Zakk after watching all the other guitarist hopefuls be sent home. (5:44) Live Nation's Jimmy Koplik was on the phone to talk about Ozzy's death, the rare sell-out feat Ozzy achieved in Connecticut, and explained why Connecticut always seemed to be able to book OzzFest dates. (27:20) Tribe memeber Kelly was on the phone to talk about the live tribute to Ozzy from last night in Hartford. Wolfgang Van Halen brought the house down with a rendition of "Mama, I'm Coming Home," and the Creed tribute was so Creed. (39:39) Doc McGhee, KISS manager, was on the phone with Chaz and AJ to talk about bringing Ozzy to Russia, and his close friendship with Ozzy and Sharon. (44:10) Carmine Appice, who drummed with Ozzy, was on the phone to remember his friend and bandmate. Carmine shared a story of Ozzy immediately being smitten with a Long Island burger joint after just one visit. (53:25) Don Dokken was on the phone to talk about the Jam at the Dam coming to Connecticut this weekend, but spent most his time remembering Ozzy Osbourne. (1:01:53)

On a recent episode we talked about the primitive, early days of American heavy metal. This time we're talking about the juiced-up, oil-drenched, muscle-bound glory days of American heavy metal. The United States grabbed the mantle of heavy metal from Europe and made it louder than ever. Trash and hair metal made waves across the globe, and heavy metal was good as hell. We're talking about some of our favorite heavy metal sounds from 1985 to 1989 with Fifth Angel, Sound Barrier, Racer X, Joe Satriani, Dokken, Liege Lord, and much more. This week we celebrate bands that can re-imagine their songs with acoustic instruments and still rock! We are pulling the plug… and gasping for air… guitars! Electric artists have been playing acoustically since the beginning of recorded music. Most songwriters start the process with an acoustic instrument and capturing the sound of a song on just wire and wood has a vulnerable, human feel to it. What's this InObscuria thing? We're a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This week we discuss the FORGOTTEN. Mtv started a series in 1989 called “unplugged”, and almost every mainstream relevant act started producing acoustic albums or versions of their songs. This week we listen to some artist that you may have never considered as having acoustic interpretations of their songs.Songs this week include:The Gems – “Like A Phoenix (Acoustic Version)” from Phoenix (2024)Cicadstone – “Burn Your Name (Acoustic)” from Future Echoes (Acoustic EP) (2024)Dokken – “In My Dreams” from One Live Night (1996) Rise Against – “Swing Life Away” from Punk Goes Acoustic (2003)Twelve Foot Ninja – “Kingdom (Acoustic)” from Mutant Dreams And Face Transplants: An Acoustic Experience (2024)Joey Eppard – “Dregs” from Joey Eppard Live In Concert (2013)Megadeth – “Symphony Of Destruction (Acoustic Live)” from Unplugged In Boston (Live 2001) (2001)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://x.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it: InObscuria StoreCheck out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/
