In this powerful episode, Darin Olien sits down with Dr. Aimie Apigian, a double board-certified physician and leading expert in the biology of trauma, to dive deep into how our nervous systems carry the scars of early life experiences—and what we can do to finally heal. Welcome back to Fintech Takes. I'm Alex Johnson, joined (as always) by my partner-in-recapping, Jason Mikula. Usually, we sift through a grab bag of headlines, but not this time. There are two seismic fintech stories worth your time (both tied to data access, control, and what comes next). So that's where we're headed. No visit to BaaS Island this time. Our first story: JPMorgan Chase's proposed pricing for open banking API access is reportedly 10x what aggregators currently charge their customers. The fee isn't just financial; it's strategic. Payments use cases (ahem, Pay by Bank) are priced highest. With the CFPB's open banking rule under fire (and the CFPB now switching legal sides to ask the court to toss out its own rule), we unpack what this means for consumer data access and the economics of data sharing. With Chase proposing “punitive” fees that could render key fintech use cases economically unviable, are we on the verge of screen scraping 2.0? Our second story: Congress passes the Genius Act, giving stablecoins their first real federal framework. It could be a win for players like Circle, but what does it mean for banks, tokenized deposits, and global dollar dominance? Are we just exporting U.S. monetary power through DeFi rails (and will regulators have the bandwidth to keep up)? Plus, in our Can't Let It Go corner: Jason goes off on the ethics of betting on people's divorces. Meanwhile, I spiral down the rabbit hole of Bill Pulte's unhinged Twitter (where he's on a mission to destroy FICO and get Jerome Powell fired, in ALL CAPS and random quotation marks). Enjoy! In Psalm 10 the evil does say God doesn't see---God doesn't care---He won't do anything. My friend they are wrong on all counts. He sees, he knows, He cares and He will repay. My challenge to you is---LET IT GO! We've all had people treat us bad and hurt us. If the truth be known we all have felt like getting even. But all that does is block your blessings. Let go and let God---He will take care of it.

One of the narratives at the heart of President Trump's political movement is this: American society is dominated by a shadowy group of elites, and those elites are deeply corrupt. Nothing represented that theory more than the case of Jeffrey Epstein. He was a man most people had never heard of initially, with a private plane and a private island. Acquainted with the world's most powerful people: British royalty, U.S. presidents.A man who ultimately died in jail...by suicide, according to authorities... before the case against him went to trial. Epstein's case and his death bred skepticism and conspiracy theories – especially among supporters of Donald Trump. Now, some of Trump's most ardent supporters are attacking his Justice Department's decision not to release all of the files related to the Epstein case.Trump says nobody cares about Epstein. But his base won't let it go. An episode that deeply values justice and honesty! In Episode 149 of The Autistic Culture Podcast, Dr. Angela Kingdon explores Pillar 9 of Autistic Culture: Justice Seeking, with special guest Clare Kumar, productivity expert and host of the Happy Space Podcast, to explore Justice Seeking — the 9th pillar of autistic culture.Claire is a late-diagnosed autistic woman, executive coach, and productivity speaker. She brings unique insight into neurodivergent efficiency, workplace design, and inclusive spaces through her work with Hidden Disabilities Canada and her signature Joy Inventory tool.If you've ever been accused of being “too intense,” “too rigid,” or “black-and-white,” this episode is for you. Angela and Claire flip the script and reclaim those traits as moral clarity, fairness-driven thinking, and authentic advocacy — powerful parts of autistic identity. Here's what defines this core Autistic trait:* We call out what others ignore.Autistic people are often the first to question broken systems, double standards, and flawed logic. We don't pretend it makes sense—we say it doesn't.* We sense injustice instantly.Misaligned actions, hypocrisy, and favouritism aren't just annoying—they feel unbearable. Fairness isn't optional. It's foundational.* We speak up—no matter the cost.Whether it's calling out ableism, bias, or misinformation, autistic advocates often challenge power structures—even when it's uncomfortable.* We hold systems to their own rules. We expect policies to be applied with consistency and equity. Selective enforcement? We notice—and we question it.* We feel justice in our bodies. What's labelled as “Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria” is often justice sensitivity—a real-time emotional response to being dismissed for telling the truth.* We don't fake neutrality. When something's wrong, we can't mask it. We're not “too intense”—we're deeply aligned with our values.* We crave clarity, not conflict.Accountability helps us feel safe. We don't want to blame—we want to understand what went wrong and how to fix it.* We value truth over comfort.Authenticity matters more than approval. Many of us would rather lose a friendship than betray our principles.Key Concepts* ✨ Moral clarity: We often see the ethical core of a situation before others do—and struggle to stay silent about it.*

Freedom carries profoundly different meanings depending on whether you're viewing it through the lens of modern culture or biblical truth. This thought-provoking episode tackles the paradox at the heart of Christian freedom—that surrender to Christ actually leads to our greatest liberty.Pastor Bob Fleischmann begins by sharing Martin Luther's powerful insight that "A Christian man is the most free lord of all and subject to none. A Christian man is the most dutiful servant of all and subject to everyone." This seemingly contradictory statement opens the door to understanding how Christian freedom differs fundamentally from the world's concept of autonomy. We explore how today's culture—from children's entertainment to political discourse—has shaped a shallow understanding of freedom as "having no rules." Even Frozen's beloved anthem "Let It Go" contains the revealing line: "No right, no wrong, no rules for me, I'm free." Against this cultural backdrop, we unpack Romans 6 and Galatians 5 to reveal how before Christ, we had only the "freedom" to sin—essentially the freedom to choose our chains. Through Christ's redemption, we gain something far greater: the freedom to do what is right. The conversation takes an especially practical turn when discussing Christian citizenship. Rather than seeing our freedom in Christ as an exemption from civic responsibility, we discover how it uniquely equips us to serve our neighbors through thoughtful participation in society. As one pastor notes, "Christians are called to be yeast in society—influencing it while remaining distinct."Whether you're wrestling with personal freedom questions or wondering how faith intersects with Independence Day celebrations, this episode offers refreshing clarity on what it truly means to be set free in Christ. The answer might surprise you—and transform how you view both spiritual liberty and its outworking in everyday life.Support the show

Welcome back to Fintech Takes. I'm Alex Johnson, joined (as always) with my partner-in-fintech-recapping, Jason Mikula. Let's get into it. First up: at long last, FICO score versions now include BNPL data, but there's a catch (several, actually). Affirm is furnishing data, but other major players like Klarna and Afterpay? Not so much. We dig into why most BNPLs resist sharing data (hint: it's expensive, complicated, and gives away their competitive edge), and how open banking could help—if you could reliably connect Klarna to Plaid (you can't). Then, just when we abandon BaaS Island, the CFPB shows up with a lifeboat with a surprise move in the Synapse bankruptcy. A four-page filing could open the door to using the Civil Penalty Fund to repay depositors. It's not quite a fintech bailout, but it might be the cleanest way to make people whole … and quietly shut the whole thing down. All of which still raises the bigger question: why did this happen in the first place (BaaS was supposed to be a thin layer on top of FDIC-insured banks)? Next, FHFA (which oversees Fannie and Freddie, federal home loan banks, and a whole host of other interesting things) does crypto policy by tweet. Director Bill Pulte told Fannie and Freddie (via Twitter) to undertake a study for accepting crypto as mortgage collateral. According to the latest Federal Reserve data, only 8% of households used crypto in any fashion in 2024. So… why? Because someone asked. And in our Can't Let It Go corner: Jason roasts ABN AMRO's new sub-brand, BUUT (yes, BUUT), while I spiral over Circle's $56B IPO valuation (this is meme coin math applied to a narrow bank!). Let us know what you enjoy about the show! What happens when a creative powerhouse learns to embrace all facets of herself? Kristen Anderson-Lopez—the brilliant songwriter behind Frozen's "Let It Go," Coco's "Remember Me," and WandaVision's "Agatha All Along"—opens up about the delicate dance between artistic ambition and motherhood, revealing how these seemingly opposing forces have actually nourished each other."Having children gave us both, as artists, a lot of structure," Kristen shares, reflecting on how parenthood transformed her creative process with husband Robert Lopez. Far from limiting her artistry, this structure provided a framework that enhanced their work. The lullabies she created to comfort her children during work trips later inspired pivotal moments in Coco, while her personal experiences with anxiety directly informed Elsa's journey in Frozen.Kristen speaks candidly about navigating the dizzying heights of success—particularly after Frozen became a global phenomenon. "We're going to try to enjoy the ride but not get addicted to the ride," she recalls deciding with her husband, describing success as "peeking your head out of the water for a little while, and then going back into the water to do your work." This grounded perspective allowed them to maintain their creative integrity while processing their newfound fame.As she looks toward the next chapter of her life, with her children growing older, Kristen contemplates expanding beyond her established collaborative partnership. Whether directing an animated feature or creating a one-woman show, she's learning to embrace all her layers—not just the confident, take-charge energy she's known for, but also the "wise goddess" who finds renewal in quiet moments in nature.Ready to discover how one of entertainment's most accomplished creators thinks about authenticity, creative collaboration, and intentional living? In this powerful follow-up episode, Jeremy Squires dives deeper into the struggle of offense and the spiritual consequences of holding on to hurt. Based on Proverbs 18:19—“A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city…”—we explore how offense can become a prison that locks you into a moment of pain and prevents you from walking in the freedom God has for you.Jeremy encourages listeners to make the decision to let it go, to forgive, and to release the weight of bitterness. You can't do the work God has called you to do while chained to an offense. Let love cover the wrong, allow God to heal your heart, and move forward in faith and freedom. It's time to be free, forgive, and do the work of the Lord. Don't stay stuck—let it go.
#WeirdDarknessRadio WEEK OF JUNE 22, 2025 = At the isolated crossing of Rideau Ferry in the 1800s, travelers who arrived after dark at Mr. Oliver's house were promised safe passage come morning — but many were never seen alive again, and when his buildings were finally torn down decades later, the horrifying truth of what happened to those missing souls was supposedly revealed beneath the floorboards.==========HOUR ONE: A 178-year-old mystery comes to the surface in a Philadelphia suburb. (Grandfather's Ghost Story Leads to Mass Grave) *** Recently a wrecking crew began tearing down and old building in Rhode Island. But the big burly men on the crew got so frightened they refused to continue the work. Does reconstruction of a home or building anger the souls who once lived there? (Does Remodeling Your Home Disturb The Spirits Who Died There?) *** The way life has grown on our planet requires that all living things feed off each other and must kill others in order to survive. That's the way of the world if you want to live for any more than a few days. But some people are now claiming they can live without food at all… indefinitely. (Life Without Food) *** Three men were in a shed selling gardening supplies when some strange powder suddenly hit the ceiling. Before they had time to react, a small jug on a shelf abruptly flew across the room. One man picked up the jug and placed it a covered box. Instantly, the jug was...somehow...back on the floor. And that was just the beginning of the strange haunting of a community's garden shed. (The Poltergeist In The Allotment Shed) *** In the movie Salt, Angelina Jolie plays a double-agent who is mind-controlled by scary remnants of the USSR secret service. And in real life, the 1940s bombshell Candy Jones was apparently brainwashed with drugs and used as a CIA covert operative. (The Supermodel Who Was Brainwashed Into Becoming a Spy) *** No one knows exactly when she was born. Some think, maybe, she was a gypsy. Others say she was the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter. The life of Elizabeth Barnes is a mysterious one, filled with many loves, losses, and prognostications. (The Witch of Plum Hollow) *** Some travelers, arriving late at night to board Oliver's Ferry the next day, stayed at Oliver's house. But they were never seen making the ferry crossing the next morning. Is it possible that the rumors are true – that they never left the house alive? (The Frights of Oliver's Ferry)==========HOUR TWO: An eerie tombstone stands watch over one of Portland Oregon's oldest cemeteries. And the story behind that tombstone is a strange one. (The Guardians of Lone Fir Cemetery) *** Don't take a gift from Little Gracie's grave... or her life-like statue might cry tears of blood. (The Ghost of Gracie Watson) *** When it came to her daughter's Elsa doll, one mom was eager and ready to “Let It Go”. But the doll supernaturally refused to be let go! (Haunted Elsa Doll) *** An ancient stone cross is said by locals to be cursed, and the curse infects anyone who dares to disrespect it. (Curse of the Saxon Stone Cross) *** Christopher Slaughterford was seemingly a completely ordinary young Englishman – but he has earned an unenviable place in the legal books. (T he Trials of Christopher Slaughterford) *** Two authors reported a very strange encounter with a mysterious entity they believed was not of this world. What did they see and why were they under the impression this being was not of this world? (An Author's Encounter With A Not-Of-This-World Entity)==========SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME: For Allen Taylor, January 15, 1919 was just another day on his farm near Prescott, Iowa. That is, until his 15-year-old neighbor Irene Hoskins came stumbling down the lane with a gash in the side of her head. (The Hoskins Family Murders) *** How did someone get the job of an executioner in medieval times? We'll find out! From tech fails to Friday the 13th vibes, Ryan and Joyhdae kick off this episode with pure ghetto brilliance—and it only gets wilder from there. Is Mercury in micro braids? Possibly. Did the gym lie to Ryan? Definitely. And Joyhdae's mirror might be part of a conspiracy too. We're unpacking everything from Krispy Kreme hacks to summer body delusions and poolside flexes. But then—bam! A wedding day fake-out story involving a stroke, a facelift, and a runaway bride who says “no” to mama's boys takes us on an emotional rollercoaster. You will scream. Also in the mix: Teyana Taylor's hard launch with Aaron Pierre (yes, we're watching closely), R. Kelly's emergency motion from prison (what?!), and the BET Awards bringing Black Excellence back to the forefront (shout out to Jamie Foxx, Mariah's corsets, and Kirk Franklin's 20-person gospel army).Plus, Tyler Perry's “Straw” gets the Virgo Season roast it deserves, ICE raids raise serious red flags, and Eric Adams tries to go influencer mode… and fails. Again. Don't miss this episode—it's messy, it's hilarious, and it's giving all the unfiltered Virgo Season vibes you love. Drop your thoughts in the comments: • Would you ditch your child's wedding for a (fake) brain surgery? • Are ICE raids proof this country is spiraling? • And does Mariah ever need to move on stage?Connect With Us:• Email: Virgoseasonshow@gmail.com• Website: Virgoseasonshow.com• YouTube, TikTok & Instagram: @VirgoSeasonShow• Ryan: @OhBlackRyan• Joyhdae: @JoyhdaeLike, comment, and subscribe to stay tapped into the realest commentary on the culture. We're bringing the truth with a side of petty, every week. (Unless we're on summer break, which we are. Well, I went back to back with today's thoughts - leaning on The Mindfulness Meditation Institute (@TrainingMindful) again, because I saw an important need to share this. I know I need this reminder on a daily basis, and I know others do too. This message is “Let It Go. If you can't do anything about it then let it go. Don't be a prisoner to the things you can't change.” This is something that I've been focusing in on that if I'm looking back too often on things that I've done, not done, said, didn't say, etc., that I need to grab onto the lesson to help me be better & then move on. Again, where are my feet at? I'm here. Right now, I'm where I'm at. The choices I've made in my life have helped to guide me where I'm at today. That's what I need to focus on, so that my day can be great and that helps my tomorrows be great too. That way I will have a better connection to my past, a stronger one, one that has a more powerful & positive impact on my future, “todays”. Again, this message hit me strong, so I figured that others might find it helpful too. Thanks for listening.
