Exploring C. S. Lewis' 1942 essay "Psychoanalysis and Literary Criticism" where he dismantles Freud's view of how all literature is written and read from a place of psycho-sexual desire. In doing so, Lewis defends the depth and beauty and complexity of literature and myth, and leans towards a more Jungian concept of literature and myth. Bonus episode! After the conversation with Corey about how Bergson's theory of time influenced the literature of Lewis and Eliot, Jane and Corey take us into T.S. Eliot's poem The Four Quartets to show us an example of these ideas in the text.
Did you know that both C.S. Lewis and T.S. Eliot wrote about Time? About how the present moment is the means by which we touch eternity? Join Brian, Jane, and special guest Corey Latta as they dig deeper into the philosophies that influenced Lewis and Eliot's theology of time, and consequently some of their most famous works like The Screwtape Letters and The Four Quartets. When you understand that your only point of connection with eternity is the present moment, it changes your relationship with your past, your future, and with yourself.

Dr. Corey Latta discusses his experiences with toxic workplaces from corporate to higher education, explaining that while toxicity comes in different shapes and flavors, all such environments lack one major ingredient: people centeredness. He offers wise and empowering guidance for those navigating toxic workplaces and in the end, we discuss the ways healing, growth, and inner work (and lack thereof) may shape our career choices. In this episode Kurt, Christ, and Corey Latta discuss Avengers: Endgame. MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!
Editors note We realize that various interpretations and reactions to storyline elements in this film and their ramifications have been debated. We offer this review as one plausible viewpoint. Please also be aware there are spoilers in this episode, as major plot points are discussed. A weak and problematic entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the female centric Captain Marvel is heavy handed and artless in its themes. The topic of feminism in the female empowerment sense and its relationship to heroism has been a trending topic on social media since the movies release. However, this film is a clunky sign post filled movie with badly wrought feminism rather than a feminist view that is secure with itself. This portrayal of female power clangs in desperation demanding to be heard. This Postmodern Realities episode is a conversation with JOURNAL author Corey Latta about his online exclusive CHRISTIAN RESEARCH JOURNAL film review Something to Prove Why Captain Marvel Just Doesnt Work.
In this "Extended Edition" of our podcast, we talk with Armond Boudreaux and Corey Latta, authors of the book Titans: How Superheroes Can Help us Make Sense of a Polarized World! about the real-world insights that superhero stories give us. More than mere entertainment, the genre of superhero comics and movies allow us to wrestle with the ethical and philosophical puzzles humanity has been wrestling with for millennia. They are a mythos for our era, and as such have important insights into the political and ethical problems our society faces today.

Corey, Justin and I tackle the move of culture towards binary thinking, John Cougars Authority Song…sorta, CS Lewis and the loss of civil discourse, the value of tradition and systems, loss of logic and ad hominem fallacy thinking. So sit back, buckle up and adjust the rearview, the exits for Colliersville and Franklin are just ahead on this weeks episode of Nashville to Memphis. Whatever argument the Christian apologist hopes to present, he must first find, or make, its frame. There must be form, else the idea comes to nothing. As C. S. Lewis understood well, the more penetrating and memorable instances of apologetic defense are those with harmony between idea and form. The apologist, like the writer, must become a rhetorical craftsman, careful about how shell say what needs saying. This Postmodern Realities episode is a conversation with JOURNAL author Corey Latta about his feature article in Volume 41 1 2018 called Something Made The Role of Form in Apologetics.
