The NIH/National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has found that infants that are at risk for a peanut allergy, if fed peanuts early, are 81% less likely to develop that allergy. The LEAP (Learning Early About Peanut Allergy) came about because Israeli children apparently have lower rates of peanut allergy compared to Jewish children of similar ancestry, but who live in the UK. Israeli children begin consuming peanut-containing foods early in life, whereas it is generally introduced later in life in those living in the UK.
