My guest today is Dara Khosrowshahi, the CEO of Uber. Before Uber, Dara ran Expedia for thirteen years. We start with why he took this job in 2017, and a big part of that story is Daniel Ek, who told him that life is not about happiness, it is about impact. We talk about what the chaos felt like on day one, and how his family leaving Iran when he was nine shaped the way he handles pressure today. We spend most of our time on autonomous vehicles and Uber's role as the demand aggregator in a world of physical AI. Dara explains why Uber is a supply-led company, what it will take to win, and why he expects many winners in AVs rather than one. We also discuss Uber's $10 billion in free cash flow, the push toward a single app for everything, and what he has learned from Allen & Co, Barry Diller and Reed Hastings. What if you could think like the world's toughest human? Not admire it from a distance. Not read about it. Actually run the same internal patterns — the beliefs, the strategies, the way he processes doubt, discomfort, and the voice that says stop. That's what this episode is.One of the foundational ideas in NLP is that anything any human being can do can be elicited, modelled, and replicated. If you can identify how someone thinks at their best — the structure beneath the performance — you can hand that as a shortcut to anyone willing to step into it.Success leaves clues. Hypnosis is how we install them.In this first Modelling Excellence Monday session, Adam takes seven core principles from the philosophy of David Goggins — retired Navy SEAL, ultramarathon world record holder, and one of the most followed voices on mental toughness on the planet — and builds a deep hypnosis session around them so you can begin running those same patterns from the inside out.The Seven Principles Modelled in This Session:The 40% Rule — When your mind says stop, you're only 40% of the way thereThe Accountability Mirror — Brutal honesty with yourself, no excuses, no storiesCallous the Mind — Discomfort is not the enemy, it is the training groundThe Cookie Jar — Pull strength from everything you've already survivedTake Souls — Use doubt and disbelief as fuelBuild the Savage — Motivation is unreliable; discipline is the system that runs when it isn'tNever Finished — The quest for greatness is unendingHow to Use This EpisodeFind somewhere quiet, put your headphones in, and give yourself 45 minutes where you won't be disturbed. Lying down is fine. Eyes closed. Just follow Adam's voice. You don't need to believe it will work. You just need to show up.Who Should Adam Model Next?Modelling Excellence Monday is built on one idea: anyone in the world who achieves something extraordinary is running a set of internal patterns that can be identified, extracted, and handed to you.Who inspires you? Who do you watch and think — I don't just want to admire that, I want to understand how they think?Nominate your person — an athlete, entrepreneur, scientist, philosopher, artist, anyone — and Adam may build a future hypnosis session around them and their area of excellence.

Adam helps a client feel empowered to pursue their passions rather than continuing to put the needs of everyone else first. Useful if you have never felt worthy to live your own life.
To some, Chicago's Suncatcher must appear to be a typical neighborhood brewery. The bar is classic Midwest, salvaged from a midcentury tavern. The patio is expansive and inviting, thanks to the plant nursery next door. And the beers come without clever names—just the style, often defined by color, spelled out in plastic letters pressed into the sign board. But when you consider that it was the cofounder of Half Acre who designed and built this neighborhood brewery, it takes on a different meaning. The simplicity that Matt Gallagher has infused into Suncatcher extends from the environment to the beers themselves, and while he's back on the brew deck as the sole brewer, he's chosen to intentionally limit himself. But that doesn't mean sacrificing quality or flavor—in fact, by simplifying, he's able to focus on what the brewery needs to be, and what the beers need to be, and nothing more. In this episode, Gallagher discusses: designing Daisy Cutter so you could smell it from the other end of the bar early challenges in sourcing the hops they wanted the vastly improved growing and processing conditions for today's hops testing the thesis that a small brewery can be sustainable building simple beers with beautiful and expressive ingredients focusing on hospitality and service as much as the beer itself G&D Chillers You know the pain—warm fermenters, stressed yeast, and that sinking feeling when the repair quote lands in your inbox. With refrigerant regulations changing and the cost of obsolete refrigerants skyrocketing, sometimes the fix costs more than the unit's worth. G&D Chillers is there to help, whether you're a small brew pub or large full-scale production brewery. Don't throw good money at bad equipment. Invest in a solution that grows with your brewery—and keeps your tanks cold when it counts. Big thanks to G&D Chillers for supporting this podcast since 2019, reach out to them at gdhillers.com/podcast to learn how they can support your next six years of growth. What if the biggest barrier to client action is not the quality of the financial plan, but the lack of purpose behind it? In this episode, Cary Sinnett sits down with Andrea Millar to explore how life planning helps financial planners move beyond technical recommendations and uncover what truly matters most to clients. Andrea shares how deeper conversations around purpose, relationships, fulfillment, and meaning can lead to stronger engagement, clearer decision-making, and more intentional financial behavior. Together, Cary and Andrea discuss how CPA financial planners can integrate life planning concepts into existing client relationships without abandoning technical precision. Questions Answered Why do some clients fail to follow through on financial advice? How can planners uncover what truly matters most to clients? Why do "soft skills" often improve technical planning outcomes? How can advisors begin incorporating life planning concepts into their existing process? Key Takeaways Clients are more likely to act on recommendations when financial advice connects to personal meaning and purpose. Technical expertise becomes more powerful when paired with deeper discovery conversations. Human-centered guidance may become even more valuable as AI advances in technical planning. My guest today is Dan Loeb, the founder and CEO of Third Point. Dan started Third Point in 1995 with a few million dollars, and today the firm manages over 24 billion across equities, corporate and structured credit, venture, and insurance. He is best known for his activist work at companies like Sotheby's, Sony, and Yahoo, and for the public letters he has written to boards over the years. What I find most interesting about Dan is how much his approach has evolved across thirty years. He came up as a credit and event-driven investor at Warburg Pincus and Jefferies, built Third Point, then layered in quality investing, thematic technology investing, and now a very large credit business that sits alongside the hedge fund. We cover how he thinks about the AI stack and the companies inside it he believes matter most, the difference between good and bad governance, what FTX taught him about due diligence, the Sony and Sotheby's stories, and the power of writing. Welcome to the Influence Podcast! I'm George P. Wood, executive editor of Influence magazine and your host. "Honesty matters, and people care a great deal about it," writes Christian Miller. Yet we are facing an unprecedented erosion of honesty today — what I call an honesty crisis. There are few in our lives that we will trust with our hearts. There are few people in our lives whose word we trust as well. It is important that we realize God can be trusted – with our desires, our concerns, our hopes and our fears. He keeps His word to us – that we are loved far greater than we can imagine, that He will protect us and has good plans for us. He will guide us and surround us with His peace – which is beyond our understanding. Daylight Meditations is a daily podcast from CFO North America. My guest today is Gavin Baker, founding partner and CIO of Atreides Management, and this is our sixth conversation. The central theme is watts and wafers, the two physical constraints that in Gavin's view will dictate the next phase of AI. On power, he thinks the near-term shortage starts to ease in 2027 and 2028 as new sources of energy come online, and that orbital compute solves it in the long term. On wafers, he explains what is different this time from the dotcom bubble and why TSMC's capacity decisions may be the single most important variable to watch. We also discuss Elon's Terrafab, the disaggregation of GPUs, the role of new chip companies, and whether the economic value of AI will keep accruing to frontier models. What should you know before quitting your job to build your own business? For that and more, follow us here and subscribe to our YouTube channel.A while back, I quit my job to go all-in on building EverBee. No plan B. No runway that made sense on paper. A wife, a mortgage, and a belief that this was going to work.It did work. But there are seven things I wish someone had told me before I made the jump. Not tactics. The stuff that actually matters, the emotional cost, what your spouse signs up for whether they know it or not, why certainty is a trap, and the one thing that has to be in place before you quit.If you are building something online and want tools to help you move faster, try EverBee and EverBee Store for product research, launching your own brand, and building a business you actually own.------------RESOURCES:- EverBee Store: https://everbee.io/store/- VidIQ: https://vidiq.com/builtonline------------
You've run it through every filter. Looked at it from every angle. Sat with it at 3 am. The decision settled. And THEN you opened it back up. Not because something changed. Because trusting your own read is harder than making the call in the first place. In this episode, Tami opens a brand new series by naming what it actually costs when decisions don't hold -- and what becomes possible when they finally do. This one is personal. It starts with a story about a leader who built something from nothing, loved it, lost the love, and slowly found his way back. And it ends with the one question that changes what you do with next week. WHAT YOU'LL HEAR Why the most exhausting part of leadership is rarely the decision itself. What it looks like when a leader keeps reopening something that already settled. The difference between a decision that was wrong and a decision that wasn't trusted. What changes when a leader finally lets a decision hold. Why this series exists and where it is going. LEADERSHIP PATTERN TO NOTICE There is a specific kind of exhaustion that shows up in high-performing leaders who are excellent at what they do. It is not the exhaustion of overwork, though the hours are real. It is the exhaustion of making the same decision multiple times. The decision was made. It was right. And then new information came, or the weight of it got heavier, and it got reopened. Leaders who carry this pattern are not lacking confidence in the traditional sense. They are carrying a gap between knowing and trusting. The decision and the trust in it are not the same thing. Most leaders have never been told that. CONCEPTS INTRODUCED This episode introduces the gap between a decision that settled and the trust required to let it hold. Tami also opens the new series, What You're Already Built For, and names the thread that will carry through the next several weeks: the wiring already in you that you have been second-guessing, editing, or waiting to fully own. SIT WITH THIS What have you already decided that you keep reopening? Not because it was wrong. Because you haven't let yourself trust it yet. KEY TAKEAWAYS The decision wasn't the problem. The trust was. When a decision doesn't hold, it doesn't disappear. It comes back with everything attached to it. The leaders who get their footing back are not the ones who finally got more information. They are the ones who stopped second-guessing the information they already had. Your body made that call before your brain finished building the case. That is not a flaw. That is wiring. Letting a decision hold is not passivity. It is one of the highest-leverage moves a senior leader can make. Enjoyed the Episode? Adam helps a deal with a difficult challenge by framing temporarily difficult things as a gateway to a much better future possibility. Adam uses a metaphor of a stream and the theory of the region beta paradox, the idea that sometimes it takes something to get worse in order for it to lead somewhere better.
My guest today is Krishna Rao, the CFO of Anthropic. The center of our conversation is how he navigates the decision around procuring and allocating compute, which he describes as the canvas on which everything else gets built. We talk about what he calls the cone of uncertainty, the three chip platforms Anthropic uses fungibly across Trainium, TPUs, and GPUs, and the daily meetings they run to allocate compute between model development, internal use, and serving customer demand. He explains why the returns to frontier intelligence keep getting higher, especially in enterprise, and how Anthropic thinks about the line between platform and application and why they choose to build their own products like Claude Code. Krishna has such a unique seat watching one of the fastest growing businesses in history, and he is generous in sharing what he has learned since joining the company two years ago.
