Folkie Americana indie hero Drew Holcomb joins us to chat about the songwriting process and which of his songs he's not a fan of! PART ONEScott and Paul debrief the experience of recently seeing the 74-year-old Bruce Springsteen perform with the energy of a teenagerPART TWOOur in-depth conversation with Drew HolcombABOUT DREW HOLCOMBMemphis native Drew Holcomb first broke through on the national scene with the 2011 album Chasing Someday, credited to his band Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors. Subsequent studio albums, such as Good Light, Medicine, Souvenir, and Dragons hit the Top 10 on Billboard's folk and indie charts and earned Holcomb and his bandmates a loyal following. The fiercely independent group is widely regarded as a live performance powerhouse, while Holcomb's original songs have found particular resonance with music supervisors who have made them staples of film and TV show synch placements. Whether working with the band, solo, or as a duo with his wife and fellow singer/songwriter, Ellie Holcomb, Drew's literate folk-based Americana represents a craftman's approach to the songwriting process. The most recent album from Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors is called Strangers No More.
Today's topic revolves around the return (albeit a slight one) of the live music scene, as we talk about some of our recent concert experiences. We discuss audience attendance as well as the DIY approach artists are now taking when selling merchandise & interacting with their fans. ** Once again, all apologies for the poor audio quality on Craig's part. Kevin was nice enough to give him one more strike before firing him, so we're almost sure it will never happen again :) **Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/SchizoMusic)

On this week's episode, I get to share my love of music and golf with the immensely talented Drew Holcomb. Drew and I talk about the band's latest album, Dragons, the songwriting process, his musical influences, those fantastic Kitchen Covers he and his wife, Ellie, have been doing every night, and, of course, when he fell in love with golf and why he loves it so much.I cannot recommend enough that you head over to Drew's YouTube channel and check out his music video for his song Family, as well as listen to at least a few (if not all) of the Kitchen Covers. You should also go find the new album, Dragons, and listen to it in its entirety. It's so good. You can also follow Drew on Twitter @DrewHolcomb.As always, if you have a golf origin story you would like to share, you can let me know on Twitter @KrisMcEwen or send me a note through my website, KrisMcEwen.com/GolfOriginStories.Thanks again for listening.
